Remember when this came out & we thought it was amazing quality? Lol Jesus where does the time go? I remember spending hours watching their videos over & over in high school.
I can't explain how this song makes mee feel. It is like someone put my soul into a song. And I also love watching this video, I alway come back and never get tired of it. Ilysm Beirut.
This was the first Beirut song I heard about a year and a half ago (I Stumbled! it), and I immediately loved it, listened to more of their stuff, and bought TFCC, which I love to pieces, and saw them live in May of 2008. Every time I listen to this song, during the violin parts, I always picture two small birds (say, sparrows) swooping and weaving and diving and spiraling around each other. I wish I had the knowledge (and program) to make a video of that.
and he's the one who's able to connect all those people ("we" only knew there were talented people as "payed hands" in recording studios or as faceless people in the streets/banlieus - until Beirut was founded).
I don't think it's messy, either. It's rather - like (almost) all Beirut songs - cosmic: With all those different people and instruments involved - and an authentic, not constructed/cliched environmet around. In my opinion Zach is someone like a genius: He's not the whole band alone, but he's the one "invent" such beautiful melodies as the keys or cores of the songs,
uummmmm, you try to do better. Post it on youtube and I'll make sure and tell you how it could be better...toward the end. sheesh...people can't you just appreciate good music? Also, the drumming on the watermelon at the end WAS a little messy...
10 years later and I keep coming back to watch this
😃

They did have good quality back then, but youtube slowly rips out the higher quality of older videos if it's not a big name channel
i also remember it was in good quality
@@DarnHyena really? oh my god
@@elcinylmaz2200 Is there somewhere we can watch in high quality?
Primeira vez que escutei Beirut tinha 12 anos eu acho, hoje com 21 anos ainda contínua sendo umas das coisas mais magníficas que já escutei.

Keep coming back after all these years. This is fantastic.
the quality of this video shows the age, but the music..I come back to this all the time.

Four year anniversary of this being performed, gosh. This really does time travel.

Wonderful! A really beautiful poetic music!
The singer is always is getting the praise, ya know.
Let's here it for that Bass. He's a freakin' precision instrument.
I can't wait to see them live! July 22nd can't come sooner!
Was it good?
I wish he hadn't played those sticks so loud... rest is just a work of art!

and he's the one who's able to connect all those people ("we" only knew there were talented people as "payed hands" in recording studios or as faceless people in the streets/banlieus - until Beirut was founded).
Drummer plays a good watermelon
I love how cliche, yet awesome, the bass player looks.

Eu vou pegar essa música no violoncelo! Tem uma força que não sei explicar! Alguém se habilita a tocar junto?
So good! Thanks for sharing!
Not messy, just bold. Well done.
It's amazing!!! A very nice band...

I wish I could buy this whole series on dvd, or can I? I'm a fairly new fan but I've never heard anything so pure and timeless as their music.

Someone please take beirut to play in my home like this!
Muito bom!!!
Zach doesn't need many lyrics to make a masterpiece. He apparently doesn't even need a stage.
Thiis is awesomee!
I don't think it's messy, either.

Time travels to learn
Your secret life
In your mausoleum
And Berlin
Is so ugly in the morning light
But with them
I could never feel so right
I've listened to this album so much that I expect "Un Dernier Verre" to come on automatically.
Why so few views?
Lucky Neighbors !
I remember my friend Luz, even if she hate his first name more than all the world around us.

Thank god Zach Condon was born.
I prefer this to the album version, the album version reminds me of the Peanut gang theme song.. and you can't go wrong with that bass.
АААЛАх Акбар

i wish they had better mics for this
i wish he was better known
mmmm, it starts cool and clean, but in the end it's a bit messy. Sorry to say, but keep it cool like you put the athmosphere in the start.
I listen to bands that dont even exist yet
the violinist was pissed the singer decided to start playing loud off beat drums during almost her entire solo lol
@titocaroli No, it's completely ours...
o cara tira som até do sugar!!!!
hey green day is great too :D
Fedora.
Hasta parecen europeos!
@titocaroli
Violin player is a baaaaaaad assssssssssss.
That "drumming" ruined it for me. Not to mention it got in the way of the violinist...shame, really... cause the rest is pretty good.
Watermelon.

Also, the drumming on the watermelon at the end WAS a little messy...
