I live less than a mile from makro, and a few pointers for that place, you're casting way to far , you won't hold bottom and the fish are close in anyway there about 40 yards max you want to be, maybe a bit more if it's low water. Makro is a very strange place , you catch tiny codling or massive ones. Been a few double figure fish and a lot close to that recently from that spot. It can be tough with the weed situation aswel , it's best fishing the smaller tides at makro
Thanks Joe that’s exactly the info we are looking for mate. As the tide flooded and started to pull we certainly realised distance was not the answer 🤦 thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it. Tight lines👍
As you say buddy, proving to be quite challenging, but I loved this video and thought it was one of the best fishing education videos I have seen in a long time. Please keep making them 👍🏻
Tough way to finish a tough weekend lads. Like others have said, really, you want to be closer towards the buildings, and a short cast no more than 50yds. Fishes really well on its day, and it's a popular mark. My PB cod this season came not far from here, and some good size flounder to be had too.
Hi mate. Yeah absolutely, appreciate the feedback and advice. We certainly learned that as the tide really started to rip. Nice comfortable venue which is good to have in the locker for times when the coastal conditions are poor. Think I saw you at the EOBC, I was going to say hello on the Sunday night but never got the chance. Tough comp wasn’t it
@Full Circle Angling Give me a shout next time you're looking for a sheltered spot on the river. I know a few goodens along there. Yeah it was tough, I had a good day on the Sunday, but never made the weigh in 😒
@@theawfulangler spot on mate will do👍 thanks a lot. Good you got a few fish, better than us🤦 we fished Aldbrough and the pill was virtually unfishable.
You need cast no more than 30-40 yards or even closer at times, I use long wired leads which hold no problem, Its one of the best marks on the humber on its day caught 8 species in one night last winter with some decent cod. Pulley, bomber, or paternoster work well. At high water cast long, when tides running cast short the fish move about after the worms at high. Love the vids by the way
Another good watch guys..and yeah obviously you had no water but next time if your there over high water.. fish alot closer in. As it fill up any further then 50 yards you'll not hold bottom and if its bad with weed 4get about fishing any further then 30 yards. Fish 2 rods 1 at 40/50 yards max (depending on the weed)and other literally 15/25 yards👍 same as bass on the coast you'll be amazed how close in you can get them🎣🎣
Thanks for the vid fellas, I might give it a bash there next session or two. I tend to go the other side on the Immingham wall. There have been some nice cod coming out , as said in other comments you need to fish a bit closer to get the fish in the humber. I found that it fishes better just after high tide...
A great try. Obviously local knowledge is paramount.🤔 Still an enjoyable video with some nice tips and advice.😃 Thanks to you both for sharing.👍🙏 Take care and stay safe.😷🙊

Hi mate, thanks for the comment. Yeah once the tide started to pull hard we realised shorter casts were the way forward. Managed to avoid the blank which is more than we can say for the Euros! Tight lines, all the best👍
Hi Richard, thanks for watching and commenting. It’s a Carhartt pullover - can’t quite remember the name of it. It’s warm for the winter and fairly waterproof. But if you’re looking for out and out waterproofing I’d opt for something with gore tex in👍
A great looking spot ...I can only imagine using a modern light pole...any thing I have that long is 40 years old or more...and that much heavier...and I ain't young no more...
I fish opposite side of Humber just yesterday n i had same issue on my stiffer rod with braid where as my softer rod with same weight but mono held perfect, was on 6oz breakaway on both

What a stubby little codling! Obviously the gene pool is fairly limited around the Humber….and that’s not just the fish! 😂 Nice teatime watch, cheers lads.

Why does mono help hold the bottom over braid? I'm very new to fishing so learning new info all the time. Really liked he video, just stumbled across ye. Look forward to going through the older vids
Hi mate, firstly thanks very much for your support 🙏 So, mono has a significant amount of stretch in it compared to braid, which means that when there’s a lot of tide pull there’s a good level of tolerance in the whole system between sinker and rod tip that allows the sinker to bed in and the rod tip to sit on the tide. Braid has virtually zero stretch which means that unless the rod tip is very soft (ie a glass tip) the lack of stretch between the rod tip and sinker and the fact that there is an element of sturdiness to the rod tip means that there is no give in the system and the tide will simply pull the lead along with it. Hopefully that makes sense. If you can, the best thing to do is to fish a tidal venue with mono and braid, that will help you understand the difference in how each system behaves in the tide. Hope that helps and tight lines 👍
@Full Circle Angling that helps massively thanks. I knew mono stretched more just never would've thought it had that kind of effect with tides and holding bottom. Makes sense when you think of it. Thanks for replying
