Hi Dave and Gary, My family had a caravan at Sandy Bay and that's where I got my love for sea fishing!. From 1959 at the age of 6, my twin brother and I used to fish at what was known as "the Chine" but understood that it was really called "The Chain" because as you mentioned, there used to be a ferry there which was pulled across by a chain! It was just the local dialect which changed chain to chine! We used to go "Pinnelling" (a local name for Peelers) up the "Wanney"(Wansbeck) to Green Island and Black Island, and fish at "The Harbours" about half a mile upstream where the local fishermen kept their boats. There used to be a rope bridge over the river in the same area which took you across to Cambois! As we got older ,we progressed to fishing the open beach and Newbiggin cliffs, Cresswell Carrs etc! We had the caravan from 1959 to roughly 2000 and we must have had hundreds of cod over the years, summer and winter! My biggest shore caught cod was 15 and a half pounds from Cambois pier in July 1976.It was in poor condition, and if it had been a prime winter cod it possibly would have been over twenty pounds and I doubt if I would have landed it. I still manage to fish Sandy Bay occasionally in the winter, which I think is one of the best local beaches. You may know that there used to be a hot water outlet pipe from Cambois power station which was a great spot for bass! I'm 70 now and your video took me back to those innocent childhood days. Jumpers for goalposts Thanks for the memories ! 👍👍😄😄
Hi Kevin. Fantastic account of your fishing days and some brilliant fish to boot! I enjoyed reading that! That’s interesting about the chain/chine and makes sense with the local dialect! Thanks very much for watching and commenting, really pleased you enjoyed and that it brought back happy memories 🙏👍 Tight lines if you’re out and about 👍
Cheers Dave, Yes, very happy memories! Yours and Slippys are the best angling channels on UA-cam. I can only imagine how hard it is to actually film and fish at the same time, all I can say is that's its much appreciated! By the way, what a cracking Sea trout. Well done 👍👍. Tight lines
I never read long replies but to read you remeniscing about times just before mine when we lived of the sea and the land warms my heart. Obviously superb untouchable memories for you. 👍🏴
Hi John, Thanks for your kind words. We don't realize at the time, when we are young and just enjoying life with no worries, that the memories we form will remain with us all our lives! Our main concern during those golden years at Sandy Bay was how long we could stay out fishing until our Mam had to come looking for us, which resulted in many a slap around the lugs,(which I think a lot of the kids could do with today!😮).No thoughts about money, work, health etc. Unfortunately, as the years go by, life takes over, i.e. work pressure, family, etc, but we can still look back and be thankful that we were brought up in such innocent times! Take care! Kev👏👏
Hi david, n gary you ok, another enjoyable watch cheers lads. Well done on your sea trout cracking fish. Garys flounder a nice fish aswell, and lets not forget the p.b. sock hahaha. All the best lads from the river humber GRIMSBY.
That was a fantastic watch what I liked most was how simple you showed us how fishing can be done. Great video lads and a nice bundle of fish the sea trout was amazing as so to the sock.😊😊 keep em going lads superb
I eat all the sea trout I catch, in fact if they are of a legal size I eat all the fish I catch here in the Highlands. That was a beautiful sea trout and I might have been tempted to return it myself so well done. Great session lads.👍
What a cracking sea trout Andy they seem to be showing up more and more in recent years allways on fish baits going to give it a shot over Easter don’t have school run with grandkids so going to give it a couple of shot great sport on light gear allways better than belting the heavy gear in freezing cold black nights that sea trout what a bonus and a great surprise tight lines boys and tight lines🎣
What a nice pleasant , and surprising, session for you both.😃😲 Well done to you both on your sea trout, nice size flounder and a turbot.👏👏👏. Oh, and the other fish, big and small. 🎣🎣🎣🎣 Thanks to your drone footage, tips, advice and skills, I'm sure many anglers will benefit.🧑🎓 Thanks for the pleasure of taking us along.👍👍 Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
belting sea trout Dave...only had one myself of a similar size and it was a great fight....well done on the flats lads another quality vid....lovely looking beach
Bang on session lads, paid off 2 come round full circle 🤣🤣 that sea trout was a beauty well in, thanks for content I enjoyed as much as you guys I think...
Super little session! Nice to see some healthy flounders kicking about, a fish that seems to be diminishing in parts. Annoyingly, I’ve been wanting to start my seatrout campaign for a few weeks now, but every time an opportunity arises, the sea gets away again. Like it is now! Thanks again lads.
Am good mate thanks heading over to balcary next month a did blank up at silloth last week me mate managed to get 1 thorny out and there was only 1 other ray out off another fella take care pal 👍🏻

Beauty of a video. Sometimes going back old school is pleasant to do. Well done on the fish, simplicity at its best. Weird how them flounders up north take straight mackerel, down south you wouldn't get a touch. Excellent video and camara work.
Just found your channel.....good video with all the best parts nicely filmed and the right amount of well informed chat. The only downside is that it makes me want to get out again but, at 81 and a few health issues ,it’s out of the question. I used to fish the coast from Hartlepool down to Whitby. So, if I can’t fish, the next best thing is watching videos like yours so keep them coming ! By the way, what a cracking sea trout ! And I love your catch and return policy.
Cheers Michael welcome to the channel and thanks for tuning in. Sorry you can’t get out anymore but glad you’re enjoying the channel👍 we’ll certainly keep the vids coming. Next one 10am Saturday morning 👍🙋♂️
Cracking sea-trout 👍 I'd say going with the condition of the fish and the condition of the tail and fins it's one of last year's river fish 👍 Great video really enjoyed it 👍
I've been a trout, grayling, salmon and sea-trout angler for 40yr and just got into sea fishing a little over a year ago, I'm now seriously addicted 😁 Once they've spawned and they head back to sea you'll get them hanging around the estuary 👍 great catch all the same 👍 Really enjoying your channel 👍 great content 👍 and plenty of great information for this newbie 🎣
A very pleasant watch lads and excellent drone footage. I've never caught a sea trout but now after your 4lb+ beauty will be more inspired. Looking forward to your next video. Have liked and subscribed.
Very productive session and what a seatrout! I’ve pulled out a decent sized turbot not far from where you were fishing, a very good beach to fish on its day

Hi , fished Cambios today and caught a flounder with the same type of underneath paternation in a different shape . unfortunately didn't take a pic.
