I love the spontaneity of your trip! You guys took your time, explored and enjoyed your surroundings. Too many people stick to a strict schedule trying to fit in a huge list of typical tourist spots everyone goes to. And there's nothing wrong with enjoying "Western food" as Japan is renowned for some of the best pastries, cakes and desserts in the world. I appreciated your love of 7-Eleven :)

Times Square is so much worse than Shibuya. I avoid Times Square any time I’m in NY and I think most locals do too. Just a tourist ghetto. Looks like you had fun in Tokyo. Japan is one of my favourite country’s to visit.

Just happened on this nice video.......I remember Times Square this way, 7, 8 years old visiting my moms best friend who lived in Chinatown NY,NY and we lived in Massachusetts would venture out....me being dragged along, about 1971,72 smells weren't like you were talking of Tokyo, nice pastries and butter. I remember, urine, porn stores and homeless (back then bums and winos) hookers., didn't know that then. But I hears its nice (nicers) now...😂 just Google the time frame and see the videos...

Times Square in NYC is like a random alleyway in Tokyo. Tokyo is the largest city on earth and you can fit 30 Manhattans inside of Tokyo.
