Hellooooo!!! I like, enjoy and learn a lot with your videos!! Thank you for share your experiences and all your tips!! I'll try this technique in the next days. Regards from Mexico!
@@anotherperspective3076 it's just like when you make caramel, when the sugar melts then you leave it for few minutes it hardens in a new shape, the pan's shape. That's what happened here, the vanilla syrup's container keeps it warm, when it was shaped in a bubble form and exposed to the air it hardened in its new shape, bubble.
@@johonyg1236 it was crystallized. Because the washing liquid of which the bubble was made was mixed with vanilla syrup. The latter being containing sugar itself caused this result.
Excellent video! Some of those shots looked like a gas giant planet -very cool. Another thing to try: Turn that cup over, put some soapy water in it, and blow a lot of smaller bubbles. Then use a macro lens with a magnification from 2x to 4x and focus inside the bubble mass. The air gaps between the bubbles will look like wires.
Thank you so much for sharing this, I was using mostly water + soap+ glycerin but never thought of syrup. It’s so much fun doing macro photo of bubble!
Cool variation on this theme. Colors inspired by your shirt, perhaps? Suggest that bubble should be strong enough to withstand an additional prop in the photo - like a pencil point, flower petal or insect. You get the idea. Otherwise you should really get outside more😁.
Thank you Paul! Thats a good point. Those bubbles withstand a waterfall of sugar sirup, I should try to combine them with something to get a real unique image. Thank you for your comment, that could really bring that soap bubble topic to another level😃

@@anotherperspective3076 I plan to buy a soft box but not sure which one to get (one or two boxes, stand or not, how many lightbulbs per box, etc.). There are so many!

Great video, thanks for sharing! My daughter and I have used hot steaming water to get a nice look at how the pressure inside the bubble acts, and the vortex inside is pretty neat to watch and photograph.
The next experiment I would like to see (I have purchased a soft box just to create better soap bubble images) how these bubbles under a soft box will look when photographed in freezing temperatures. I've photographed them backlit with a setting sun, but never under a soft box. I should be uniquely interesting.

So, I've been trying to improve my chops with macro and timelapse photography. Both of which can be done solo. Please keep the videos coming!
Tried this today using the sugar and water, also used extension tubes 1 and 2. Got great colours and the bubbles were stable. Only thing I had issues with was ghosting around the circumference of the bubbles. I put that down to the filter on the front of the lens to stop the splash. And the lack of ability to control the Fnumber. Hey ho will have to try again.😅

I am a chemist, and photographer. The colors are generated by thin film interference - the liquid film thickness is on the order of the wavelength of light (100s of nm), the light will bounce and selectively reflect back out. I think a few things are going on. You have a surfactant (soap) that changes the surface tension of the solution and enables the bubbles to form the very thin sheets that cause the thin film interference. When you added more syrup to the solution this probably changed the surface tension some generating a thicker film, and probably the more significant thing is that sugar has a very different index of refraction. The combination caused the big shift in color when you added more syrup. If you want to learn more ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin-film_interference Great job, I am going to have to try this myself!
I did stills a few months ago with flash, got some good results. Had to buy LED lights to do vid. and I have a good setup with large diffuser panels. Have ideas for an additive but not yet tried out.
Looks like you were able to get some of those darker soap bubbles that look like jewels! Awesome. What size is your softbox? Mine is about 120cm but I'm thinking of trying one that is smaller which may be easier to set up on a table.
Hey Marion, yes it worked really good:D Thank you for the inspiration. Oh... good question, I am just withing relocation and not at home, I guess it must be 50 x 70 cm but I am not sure. Did you try that "glass setup"?
Another Perspective I am going to try some new mixtures hopefully tonight or tomorrow. Your soap bubbles are amazing and adding the syrup and honey looks fascinating. It’s so much fun to experiment.
Great you liked it. I have blown with a straw like 30 seconds into the bubble until the structures formed those small round particles, it is a lot try and error;)
I can do some more tests with smartphone. But I think the light source is difficult to exchange because only the reflection of the bright surface reveals the colours
@@anotherperspective3076 I can't get the bright colors of your bubble. I will keep trying. (I wanted to know if any youtuber read in my language, sorry)
@@anotherperspective3076 Mmm it is just a hunch, probably far fetched. I wait for 2 years now.... But it's not cold enough (in Germany)... 😅
Add smoke to the inside of the bubble or a drop of food colouring to the liquid.
Do you use a backdrop for this black background?
When making syrup would you go 30 percent sugar, 70 percent water? or 50/50?
I'd start with 50/50 and boil it till it gets thick, if its too thick you can add water afterwards
Ayyyy! First comment gang!
