Crazy! I saw you playing on a Fender Reverb amp at Smalls in the previous vid, and I couldn't believe how you're getting such a gritty and awesome tone out of it. Thanks for giving us a look inside under the hood. In any case, your killing playing comes out of your fingers and soul. Keep crushing it, man!
Hello. Dale in Houston here. What strings and pickups do you like on this guitar and your guitars in general? By the way I want to learn to play lines!
Cool pedals and sounds. Question: why the pedals on that specific order? most of us would put the chain like this: tuner, vol. pedal, compressor, main gain (lead) 2nd gain(amp breacking up), chorus, synth, delays and reverb. Actually synth could be before gain too. Also, do you stack pedals or use 1 at the time? thx.
Thanks! It would take a long time to explain the full chain, but for now let's just say I've always had things set up that way. The compressor is specifically first in the chain (after the tuner) to emulate how Jay Graydon would run the Orange Squeezer compressor straight out of his guitar (therefore, first in the chain). I don't use compression often, but if I need it - that's the initial idea.
Ben, how do you record your videos? direct to the interface or with microphone in the amp? or some plugin, thanks for your answer you are incredibleeee
Thanks Charlie! I have used both approaches - in this video I was using an older Line 6 box (before I upgraded to the helix last year). I’ve also used a Fender Princeton mic’d up with a 57. It depends on what type of video I’m making, usually for videos where I’m only playing, I’ll use the amp.
Hi Ben, first of all you play fantastically, you are a great guitarist. Seymour Duncan, which are you using Antiquity II Retrospec'd Strat Surfer or Antiquity II 60's Surfer?
It's the Voodoo labs Dingbat small pedalboard, with the Pedal Power 2 Plus powering everything. I usually travel with a very small step up/down transformer for international voltages

Thank you, Ben!
Maybe you asked this question, but I didn't find. How do you cancel single coil noise?
Hi Roman, I use the Ilitch BPNCS installed in my Strat. It works great: www.ilitchelectronics.com/product/bpncs-fender-stratocaster/
@@beneunson Thank you, Ben!
Always was wondering what you were using I’m recording right now so I do a lot of tone comparison ......arigato .......Lefuj
thanks Peter!
Hi Ben, which strings do you use? Of course I mean the string thickness.
At the time of this video, it was 9-42 on the Strat. Now I'm back to using 10-46 on every guitar
Awesome master!! Which kind of pick do you use? Dunlop Jazz3?

Hey ben do you noramally stack your overdrive? Like phat mod for regular chords and melodies and oxford for leads and solos?
Ooohhhhh yes
For your home set up, are you still using that Mesa Boogie Express?
I have now retired the Mesa - I got 7 great years out of it though!
Have you used 5w mode often on that amp? And was your amp loaded with 10 or 12" speaker? Thanks!!
@@olekzhdanov_guitar Mine has a 12" speaker. I did use the 5 watt mode from time to time - great amp!

Thank you so much! In this guitar it’s the Antiquity II Retrospec’d. Amazing pickups!
Do you put your time base and modulation effects on the loop or is it in front of the amp? love your playing sir ❤️
It's at the very end of the loop. Thanks!
What patch cables are you using man? Currently building a more compact board like this one. Great rig!
Thanks! EBS flat patch cables
thanks for the rig rundown Ben. just curious whats the pedalboard brand and size you're using? and also what power supply do you use?
It's the Voodoo labs Dingbat small pedalboard, with the Pedal Power 2 Plus powering everything. I usually travel with a very small step up/down transformer for international voltages
@@beneunson thanks Ben. How about your cables? Do you have any specific brands?
👏👏👏👏
Hi Ben! What strings gauges do you prefer? And pics please :) Thanks!
Ernie Ball 10s and Dunlop 1.14mm Tortex Sharp picks!
What about the Les Paul? Did I miss it?
Jean-Marx Santel The LP served me well, but I no longer own it.
@@beneunson Got it. Next episode, we need picks and strings info :-)
Yes! Great idea
Whatever happened to the ibanez?
The Ibanez will be back! I’ve held onto it since 2008, and it’s still one of the best instruments I have
