Sire V3 vs Yamaha TRBX 505
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- I'm comparing Yamaha TRBX vs SIRE V3 in the flat passive & boosted active mode with the not that old D'addario strings for both basses. In active mode, the bass, mid, treble of TRBX are max. While the V3 are max on treble & mid but the bass is so slightly boosted not reaching 1 o'clock.
(Remember the V3 is not on full engine mode YET, while the 505 is on max power on all knobs) and in this video you might get the impression of how important the mid frequency knob is in a bass.
So let your ears judge both gears, let me know your thoughts in the comment! It's recorded directly to Roland Go Mixer.
For the ideal head to head modern bass comparison againtst 505 should be with Sire M2 5, I might do it later when the M2 comes again.

In this comparison, I like the clearer sound of the Yamaha.
I hear it too on active mode, but passive round V3 little better. Maybe it strings influence
sire is the best
Great video, this was a very good comparison video featuring tones. Although I have a slight bias to Sire, I still think the yamaha sat better in the mix
Yes both are nice
@@RamaNatan i have a question for you. If you could only have one sire which would you go for especially for the price?
1. V3
2. M2
3. V7
@@daltonbell2907 I'm going to v3 right now
I like them both. I hear a fusion vibe with Yamaha and jazz r&b with Sire.
@@rogermuniz7066 they’re cool
I had a SireV7 and sold it, too heavy and too many knobs, got myself a Yamaha BB734a, that's a better bass, both build and playability, the rest is in the chops.
Thanks for the video Rama........ Hey, put some flats on the Yamaha, I think you'll like the sound.
yeah some V could be heavy for some people but I ever had BB 735 for a while, it's heavy as well. I have some flats I'd like to try for V3. 505 is my friend's he's getting it back :)
I’m wondering should I buy Sire or Yamaha BB735. Which one do you recommend?
@@mv9787 Try both and you'll find out yourself, like every bass/guitar they have their pros and cons
i love the way you play, i love your music, and i love the way you groove.
Thanks
Im glad i own the yamaha .. comparing to others in the same ranges the balanced/mix is so much better than most others
Indonesian Yamaha basses have a good value, I love them too
@@RamaNatan you sud be proud of it 😇
The Yamaha sounds much more "meaty" to my ears. Thanks for the comparison. How would you rate the TRBX505 in comparison to the Sire M5?
less flexible preamp but sounds great as well. Check out my latest single feat Nathan East ua-cam.com/video/XUYvOK4IgT8/v-deo.html
@@RamaNatan thanks. I got the M7 alder last year, loving it so far! What a versatile instrument! The only slight drawback is the small space for finger to pull the strings when slapping, but I slowly adapt my technique.
The low B on the Sire is very good!
YEZ
hangisinin sapı daha ince ve rahat? video için teşekkürler🙏🎸
Based on this the v7 is way more soulfull... which I like...I put flats on my yam 304 and got a good funky sound over the bright and tingy rounds
Good one, man! However, I'd prefer seeing the TRBX go head to head with the M2 since that would be a more match since both of them have humbuckers.. Maybe in the next video, perhaps?
Yeah will do 😀
Rama, You sounds great as always. Thanks for recommending the M2. I went with the white with rosewood neck and love. I am mainly a trumpet player but sub in on bass to free up the bass player to sing. Our bassist had brought his American Made Fender Jazz and new Zon headless bass to the gig. After I played my Sire, he (Mettis) asked to play my bass. He never put it down, except for the other times I play bass, for the rest of the night. I am sure he will have one on order soon. Thanks again! Nick
Hey Nick thanks man! I love the white M2! Oh wow Zon! just a fraction of Zon's price, he'll buy Sire and keep the expensive basses at home :)
I have two Fender Jazz deluxe Basses. I setup and played a Sire Jazz for a friend. To me the Fender Jazz deluxe is far superior to the Sire. The preamp in passive and active was no match- especially passive mode. That is my opinion. Also too many knobs but good value
@@shanec4441 Yes Fender has its nice natural mid love it
Great comparison and excellent playing
Do you remember the name of the track at 1:25? And where can I get it?
Mystery by Anita Baker. Get it from the course Artistworks.com
Yamaha!!!
Yamaha the best, more deep and clean sound
El Sire tiene un sonido redondo, clásico, rico en graves y medios graves
El Yamaha un sonido más moderno, rico en medios altos y brillo!!
I like this Backing track, can you send it to me?
What's the song ??
I guess it depends on what you're going for, but it's kind of like comparing a j bass to, well... something that's not really a j bass. That said, the preamp in the Sire sounds like it has more sizzle in the top end, and the bass itself has that rounder mid-range j bass thump. The Yamaha sounds flatter and more even.
Yeah it’s not the same category. But just to give audiences choice what to buy between them
@@RamaNatan absolutely. Great comparison nonetheless.
Thanks Mark
Hi! Do you remember what model of D'addario is on Yamaha?
u make me thirsty of bass 😃🤙
go drinking : )
Also sire V3 is much cheaper in India compared to 505.
wich one would you recommend yahama trbx605 or sire v7 vintage swamp ash 5 nt 2
both nice
@@RamaNatan thanks
Yamaha when it comes to music they know 1 or 2 about how to make cool instruments.....i like the yamaha cool clean sound.
More fair would be to compare V7 with BB734A. TRBX is humbuckers and it has a modern sound. V7 is classic sound.
Should be 735 with P7 PJ vs PJ 😀
If you get a chance to do the sire p7 and bb735a.... I would love to hear.
Una pregunta cuál bajo te parece mejor el Yamaha 505 o el Marcus miler v3 cuál prefieres tú
V3 is cheaper and more flexible with the sire pre
I prefer Sire in both passive and active modes....mostly in passive mode the Sire sounds is more "woody" and high end rich
I love your woody sound term for Sire, that what you would find in M2 neck PU surprisingly, almost like P woody sound.
@@RamaNatan exactly...I guess that are harmonics
I kinda don't like d woody sound..... Da Yamaha is better
@@wandetalabi4024 "tastes are tastes" we say in italy
Where did you get a pink V3? It’s dope.
Jakarta 😀
I had a Yamaha 505 and now I have sire and the differences between sire and Yamaha are very large, I am left with sire a thousand times
Is Sire really that much better?
Not really IMHO. Sire are way overpriced. Yamaha has much better construction technology.
@@mv9787 No, in fact the TRBX is probably better. Try them both and see...
@@00Seven1000 I actually tried them both and Yamaha is a lot better. I almost bought Yamaha, but found G&L M2500 which is a great bass. But Yamahas are great too!
@@HilHPS And Yamaha sounds a lot better imo and easy to play also
Anyday yamaha
Yamaha☺☺
Bang kalo buat player all rounder bagus yg mana bang ?
semua cocok
Me quedo con el trbx 505
yamaha ‼️
Yamaha all the way
I like Sire V3 better
Mungkin nanti compare yamaha 505 VS Sire M5 juga ya om rama ! 😁👍
wah sudah beda kelas lah 505, M5 mah minimal sama MTD KZ Ori :) ke atas
Ok om... Thank you for sharing... 😁👍
@@RamaNatan mtd kz ori dapet dmna yah om
+1 for sire = fender jazz tone, and mine weighs just 7lbs 6 ounces
Gotta say, I like the Yammy better...
Yamaha easily
great comparison video and as always great technique that makes both basses sound good. I'm about to order a V7 Vintage alder, I made up my mind almost instantly after I heard you play it. Can you advise where you're getting your backing tracks from, they sound very good.
thanks Evren! from artistworks.com
What is the difference between Yamaha trbx 505 and Yamaha trbx 605?
The pickups
@@jorgealbertodelafuenteglz2568Thank you!
The difference between the 2 basses is that the trbx505 has a mahogany body and comes in solid finishes. the trbx605 on the other hand has an alder body and comes in a variety of flame maple finishes. both electronics are similar and both can provide superb sound quality. you really can't go wrong with either one. yamaha makes pretty solid bass guitars.
@@alexskibicki2262 Thank you. I purchased Yamaha BB735A. It is also good. Yamaha's workmanship is excellent. The tone is also what I like.
@@afil7033 That's a good one. I have a yamaha bb235. it's a more affordable passive yamaha bb bass and it has an awesome sound. especially with stainless steel strings. it even sounds killer with distortion.
I said what is this song hell!!
@@dluttrell78 Fortune Teller by Fourplay
Does it mean that sire Marcus Miller is superior to Yamaha trbx?
Different pick up config, different sounds for this video!
@@RamaNatan Thank you!
I’m a little new to bass, so with the active parts, was that the closest you could get them to sounding the same?
What do you mean?
@@RamaNatan I meant when you switched to active mode on both basses, did you try making them have as much of a similar sound as possible?
No I play each bass as its own sound Signature, why is that?
@@RamaNatan I was looking to buying either one of these basses and my only dilemma was to go with the V3 that has the perfect sound I like or the Yammy that has great looks and could imitate, but I kinda went with my choice on the V3 since I found one with a mahogany body
Sire preamp is more versatile
Yamaha!

Hi Rama, your video on the secrets of the V3's tone sold me on choosing this bass. - lovely! Are the pink finish and the silver pickguard custom additions, or is this a special version of the V3?
I only see white, black, tobacco sunburst and mahogany finish options listed, all with the plain black pickguard...
Wow glad I could be a help Jeremy! Pink is a limited run in Indonesia and the Pickguard is from another V series.
I own the 505 and have to be honest. I like the Sire. Just that a slightly more colorful mid and pop. Close, but sorry Yami.
You are pulling the strings down while fingering the note on the fretboard. That's not done.
Sire B string out of tune, and fret buzz, and uneven volume made it hard to listen to.
om rama boleh bantu jwb?
saya ad trbx505
rencana mau ganti sire v7
gimana om saran dari om,thanks
V7 aja aman banget
Obviously Yamaha...
Sire V3 is my vote ...
