- The small angle formula allows us to relate the size, distance, and angular size of an object. This is especially important in astronomy where objects may appear larger or smaller in the sky simply because they are closer or farther away. Visit my backyard with me as we see several demonstrations of the small angle formula and learn how to use the equation.
This is such a simple and intuitive concept that crosses many disciplines in a profound manner. Thank you for explaining it so well.
FYI, a furlong is 1/8 of a mile. It's a horse racing term, and it also happens to be my maiden name. ;)
Hello aunt Jennifer
I really like this video. Thank you for your explanation!!!
This helped a lot with my astronomy homework! thanks!
Great to hear!
Thanks, Professor! I was wondering how we make calculations (like distance and size) in astronomy -- this really helped!
this was a pretty cool explanation:)
Great video :) thanks
You have a nice backyard
Best professor
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
A very simple and intuitive method for most but I'm not too mathematically inclined but I'll try it out. Hey, if the shoe fits......
how did you record and write at the same time?
Google Glass. :) I was one of the first people in the world to get my hands on it. ua-cam.com/video/mFZqrLZF8d4/v-deo.htmlsi=v4cth7kzDPHR-qL9
Another way to measure height of object is to check Altitude angel of sun from suncalc.org and appliyng tangent to length of object shadow
