I was just a club angler ( still am !!) back in 98. I thought I’d have a go at qualifying for fisho that year drew a good peg on the canal at Wolvercote ( Oxford) only went and smashed it !!!!! Hayfield a few weeks later Never fished for carp in me life !! No pressure ! Some geezer called Steve ringer won !!! I still dine off it today !!!
My mate gave me a ticket for a maver qualifier at hayfield so I turned up for a days fishing and ended up next to Andy power ! He doubled my weight and qualified but the free lesson was great 😂
Good luck Jamie. The best of luck. I’m about a year in to match. I get so stressed before. But now I set up with head phone in trying switch off. I have got two plans each week better my weight for the week before and not come last.

I just started club matches this year and I feel pressure at the start every time, - I do feel I am mixed up in my mind unlike when I pleasure fish though - is that normal and how do you control this?
Just about going in with your plan and only making changes for a calculated reason rather than a panic decision. The more matches you fish the more you learn to trust your own decisions. But everyone still does it at times.

That's the sort of things you often get on festivals, down at white acres, because you're across several lakes, you learn plenty across the week.
Is bagger in it this year? .... I think Andy Power might be due a win. All depends on the draw I suppose.....!

Team fishing i find is far more stressful than individual matches
I only fished 1 match a open. Peg next to me Steve Gardener. He fished paste me 2 rods feeder bomb. I had no idea lol
