If I had half a billion dollars, I’d say it wasn’t about the money too
Ikr
Haters gonna hate. What would you have him say? Lamar and Jalen can have their $60 & $55 Mil/year. He will take talent around him and championships. But that’s probably a concept that’s too difficult for non-winning teams to understand. How’s that victory lap working out for ya’?
@@ptaylor8390 they not hating, anyone making that amount of money is going to say that
@@ikelister3231 then shouldn't every QB? Mahomes has never EVER been the highest yearly paid QB.
@@ptaylor8390 He would literally be getting the same amount if not more if he signed now!
Never about the money when you have it
That’s not true. Look at all the millionaires of the NFL wearing their “I’m Oppressed” shirts!
I just thought that!
From my point of view anybody that makes it to pros have more money than about any blue collar worker in the US from the get go. It's pro ball people. Leave money out of it.
Thats literally what he said
say that to the billionaires that are still expanding their business to own more. My point is the money is never enough for some people

Often times the quarterback gets paid so much, it hurts the team building the roster.
So, true.
Tom Brady
Dak Prescott
@@abriga8059 Tom Brady, that's not accurate. Tom Brady took pay cuts to help the team and never was the highest paid quarterback. If he had of the New England Patriots probably wouldn't have those seven rings.
@@marvinrules Andy Luck came into the league on a rookie contract.
If memory serves, Brady was giving a hometown discount before he even met her. lol
And was still making a lot of money, not the market rate, but enough to be set for life.
Actually what ppl missed was all the gtd money he’d get too. He didn’t take as much loss as many ppl think he just got it different way
Facts, Tom is on another level. Love Tom and the patriots. I'm from Boston, but live in Vegas now. Can't wait to see what him and Josh do with the team.
Yes he did he always gave Hometown discounts and he also was very smart working with Belichick and how to restructure his contract with his money would go into bonuses and wouldn't affect the money on the field that year
He was, yeah. The whole "he married Giselle, he could give discounts" is one of the dumbest narratives. He was still earning millions in salary every year, and getting endorsements. Now he had a mega media deal.
Dude signed a 500 million dollar contract. Of course he says he doesn’t care about money anymore.
😂
$450 million. Ohhhh the oppression.
Games are fixed let that sink in !
lol Exactly! That’s why his WRs are supposed trash. They couldn’t afford Tyreek Hill. And now all Mahommes does is throw screen passes, check downs to Kelce, and hopes his Defense wins the games
@@tylerjoseph1539Ring 3 and in talks of restructuring again to open up more cap space. Talk shit on his “screen pass” offense all you want he’s him.
Giselle had nothing to do with Tom taking less money. What a ridiculous statement.
My thoughts EXACTLY. She could be unemployed and he still would've done the same thing.
Thats not what he said.
Right. That was ridiculous 😂
Giselle is actually richer than Tom.
That is what I the video said. Video said he could "afford to" take less since his wife is rich. 1) Him taking less a specific reason : for his team; 2) it has nothing to do with what he can afford or his wife's money.
If it wasn't about a TON of money, you wouldn't have a 1/3 of team salary of 53man roster
Brady taking a lower pay so the team could afford good players alongside with him is one of the most respectable things that man has ever done. Good for him.
Brady also got caught cheating 3 times...but that's cool.
@hankworden3850 No, he didn't but if it helps you sleep that's cool. Haters going to hate lmfao.
@@hankworden3850 do you actually not see how much the chiefs cheat? Travis Kelce REGULARLY holds and doesn’t get called
@@scottblinn553 he didn't? Oh weird...I guess everyone outside of New England must've imagined it...have another beer bro 🥴
Brady is shady. I’ve always had the feeling there’s more to him than meets the eye.
It’s always the guys with $500M in the bank who tell you not to chase the money.
Yet he was ranked 8th on list for the highest paid QB's until just the other day when they upped his salary.
@@troy31061 What does that have to do with anything I said?
@@troy31061 bs only Lamar and Jalen had higher contracts all signed this year. Before there new contracts he was making 10m more a year than everyone in the league. That’s specifically why he got a raise cause he wasn’t making the most anymore..
why do people act like KC just wrote him a 500 million dollar check? for him to get that 500 mil, he has to play out his 10 year contract..even then, he's gonna get killed in taxes
Dog every elite QB in the league right now is already set for life or multiple life’s…. So yea they shouldn’t be chasing the money. Some people just don’t care about winning that much and care more about how much money they getting and that’s just the truth
“It’s not about money when you have it”
That’s his point. It’s not about money anymore. He’s already got it, he wants to be a legend. That’s his motivator now.
Burrrow signed huge contract and we won’t see him in the SB again 😂
Two months later, signs the most expensive contract in NFL history for 450 Million
You ain't wrong, but a lot of QBs seem to be hitting 250 million for 4-5 years. 450 million was spread over a decade. Granted, the restructuring changes that initial deal somewhat substantially and puts him in the ball park of 250 spread over the next 4 seasons, so we shall see what happens from here on out
So a boss at your job offers you a pay rise and you’re gonna say no?
@@Famous_Frosty depends on what they want. Dont be a dunce.
The NFL’s salary cap is what destroys QB’s from winning so much. You pay one guy 1/3rd of your cap every year and that’s what you have to work with for 52 other guys plus guys who you cut before they hurt your cap more if you keep them before a cutoff date. Hmmm yeah taking less definitely benefited Tom Brady it’s not like he wouldn’t make money from all the endorsements he would make as a result of winning all those super bowls even after his career was over
@@Famous_Frosty that's a stupid comparison. You getting a pay raise, and a QB like Brady taking less money to make sure he won.
Ironically enough Brady is probably better off financially in the long run from taking those paycuts and building that legacy, then using it for branding/commentating deals
Nice
And what about you?
@@sirhoopalot1125 what?
Uhh yea lol. Way better off. I wonder if these other QBs can figure it out or if they even care to. Some of the top paid guys it won’t really make a difference, IMHO. I just don’t think they are the pedigree of the generational talents we have seen the last 20 years. The Brady’s Brees Mannings Rodgers Mahomes and one or two others. If a QB of their caliber take a significant pay cut then it’s almost like a cheat code. It’s such a huge advantage for the team because great QBs are just so hard to come by as is.
Brady was the only one to take winning over money though. Played the game within the game like a true legend and it paid off infinitely

Tom Brady said the same thing. He had several Super Bowl rings and still wasn’t the highest paid QB, not even close. He told Belichick to put money on the other players to better the team instead.
NFL needs to have production contracts. You get wins you get paid more. Flat rate if your team sucks.
that wouldn't be fair. Because the more sucess you have earlier it will help your new generations who have nothing to do with the past one. For example if you made tom brady's sucess help bailey zappee. This would make rebuilding for teams very hard. This would also make the good teams good forever making the game not fun to watch.

The fact your wife plays fantasy football is just awesome
Immaturity
These guys are so brave for doing this. If you take the average annual salary in the US and round up you get 60k if you multiply that by 40 years you get about 2.4 million dollars so Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes are very brave to take less than 50 mil per year. Makes me almost shed a tear for them

Bring back performance based contracts. You get the league minimum if you play well you get the bonuses.
I almost forgot about league minimum based pay. That and the franchise tag..
Then players could stack teams; unless you put a limit on how much you can give in bonuses
@@jordanharris286 Obviously there would be limits.
@@StevenFauverin theory it’s a good idea, in practice It would be worse, you could do nothing and still get paid league minimum ~750k. Not to mention someone has to figure out what stats will be the new minimum, so there would be a lot of favoritism on certain line, ex: CeeDee had 71 receptions how much more should we give him vs Reggie Gilliam 1? Also if Patrick Mahomes prefers to throw it to Kelce does that mean Pacheco isn’t getting top pay? Also if your defense is lacking in one spot will you pay them all less because there QB gets sacked more per game?
@@iamliljeffie2305 performance based contracts also mean obviously if you don't perform you don't play. Also there are players that already do nothing and teams gets stuck with them having to pay them millions. And how would there be favoritism if it's performance based? Ah yes Tom Brady was only able to take lower contacts because of the money his wife made, not because even a mid level NFL contract is more than most families make.
Yeah, totally because of the money his wife. They married in 09 after Brady had already won 3 rings, had been to several other SBs, and was long off his rookie deal accepting lower contracts.
Also, QBs are paid tens of millions yearly, even bad ones arent strapped for cash.
The minimum salary of an NFL player is 660k. Over half a million per year. The average length people serve in the NFL is 3.3 years. Lets lower that to 3 because contracts are yearly. 1.98 million dollars earning the bare minimum. Basically 2 mil, but also income tax so more like 1.5 mil anyways. THAT IS THE ANNUAL LIFETIME INCOME OF THE AVERAGE AMERICAN.
At worst the lowest paid NFL player in the league is earning a lifetimes worth of money in 3 years. That’s not working another job after 3 years of making league minimum, that’s straight up just your NFL years. Forget the fact you also basically got a free degree as a college athlete and have way less debt than anyone else earning nearly your amount.

There have only been three QB's to win the Super Bowl on a rookie scale contract since 2011. Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz*, and Patrick Mahomes.
I'm putting an * next to Wentz' name for obvious reasons.
"it's not about the money"
Then take a pay cut so the team can use some of that cap space for other players
As Kelce said “Hungry dogs run faster.”
To your point, Miami Dolphins had signed Xavien Howard to a 5 yr, $75mil deal in 2019. In 2020 his teammate, Byron Jones, was signed to a 5 yr, $85mil deal and he got upset saying he outperformed his deal- he had 10 interceptions in 2020. So Miami reluctantly agreed to give Xavien Howard a new $50mil, 5yr deal in 2022. Since the new deal he's had 1 interception in 2022 and, so far, 1 in 2023 (as of Oct, 25th).
So 10 INTs before big contract and 2 INTs after last big contract.
@@Roller76 This is a fantastic point. On the face of it you could say a team is being hurt by him getting 10 interceptions, earning a big contract, and then getting 2 interceptions after the contract. You could say he's not worth the money, etc. Either he performed well enough to earn the big contract for the lower income, or his performance after earning the higher income dropped off.
I feel like this could be a reason some teams include incentives in pay? So if you hit those numbers, your income goes up.
The downside to this is the off-sheet impact. It's hard to explain but imagine being a corner who gets 10 interceptions. You are a shut-down corner, you have a phenomenal season. You are marked to attackers, and they get nothing, or very little. You play your position and you get several interceptions when that place is attacked.
Now what if after your phenomenal season, you face a year where coaches studying you simply tell their QB's... "Don't throw there." They modify their tactic to take into account how dangerous you are, and they simply attack everywhere on the field that you are NOT. Your numbers as a result go down. Does this mean you've played worse than before? I'd argue not.
See, unlike a QB who is a staple in the team, and will always have a central focus on what they do (run centered offenses, throw-centered, it still comes down to the QB touching the ball almost every play) A defender may not be targeted by the offense as much. A defender can go an entire game without being burned by a player, and still lose decisively because even if they play their position perfectly, holes in the ship elsewhere are exploited.
In a defensive line, a player's role is more constant and continuous, it's repetitive and you still have to worry about potentially being double-teamed, etc. We've seen some absolute powerhouses on defensive lines be kept to brutally low statistics simply because the opponent's strategy is to double-team that player all game. That player can still play exceptionally well, have a good game, take up 2 of the opponent's line every play... and at the same time have nothing to show for it stats-wise.
When it comes time to negotiate, the team's perspective could be: "Show me your stats! Where are the interceptions!?" but the player's perspective could be: "Show me my mistakes. Where have I been lackluster or failed in my role?"
Kelce should listen to his own advice. What’s his take on celebrity boyfriends? The Chiefs “dynasty” is a fantasy, pushed by the likes of Nick Wright and State Farm Insurance.
Kelce runs like he has bricks in his pants. He's way overrated.
@@jeffkerr7418 yeah travis is getting old. But this guy is talking about jason kelce, one of the most athletic olinemen in the nfl.

How humble of him lmao 😂
He was able to sign up all the press reporters on State Farm plans.
I've always wondered what would happen if an MVP signed a super small contract so the team had more cap space for better players
It's already been done. Tom Brady did it. While he didn't sign a 'super small' contract he did sign for less than he could get for that very reason.
Tom Brady did that, only he signed a ok contract, not a super small contract.
Edit: I didn't see the other reply
The players association won’t let them take too small a contract. A discount maybe, but they aren’t going to let players devalue the pool for everyone else. They are trying to use a small window to maximize their dollars.
Roethlisberger was doing that too, this was after being in 3 superbowls already, especially late in his career
"...AT THIS MOMENT"....
Kermit made his millions before football even came to his mind. Ask miss piggy
Tom Brady took below market money for a Qb but was paid my Kraft / New England huge marketing media fees 10+ million. How the NFL let that happen is crazy. Those fees didn’t count against NFL salary caps either. And yet it is never mentioned.
Jerry Jones.
NE was best friends with commissioner, ate at his house, 💵💰🗝️⚱️💎 💍
The immediate reference to Tom Brady's wife's salary was wildly disrespectful 🤣
Brady haters
Brady didn't need Giselles money anyways... he would have done that if she never existed.
Isnt it ex wife now?
It's really not. Brady admitted it himself on several occasions.

I saw an interview with Fedor, they were in is training area. There was al.ost nothing there, the bed was terrible and the other living arrangements were worse. The reporter asked him why he chose to live in those conditions since he was the PRIDE mma champion. About that time a group of young men ran by in the snow not wearing shirts. He pointed to them and said, "that is why, they are hungry for where I am and i have to remember that hunger".
Expecting millionaires to take pay cuts for billionaires is wild to me... I could be wrong though... 😂😂😂
Mahomes came out the gate giving off humble and “grown man” vibes. He wins and loses like a champion is suppose to and doesn’t involve himself in bs. He’s a model ball player and the type of star you wouldn’t mind your kids looking up to. Hope he has a prosperous and healthy career.
Sometimes I think its the agent who is trying to get the bag and convinces the qb to be the highest paid
Mahomes is just a true competitor. He loves that game.
The chiefs when they see this interview: mahomes ur next contract is 15 year 1 dollar deal
I’ve been saying that for years, PAY THE DAMN OLINE to win championships
Ditto
Texans, cowboys, and colts tried to do that....
@@Bullboy_Adventures you can't pay junk like it's royalty and expect it to suddenly become royalty. I've seen that in football, and I've done that in business. You gotta get the best and pay 'em. That o line is so important for the run game and pass protection, and with a good running game, it opens up the passing game so much. Of course, there will always be exceptions. 👍
Isnt that proof enough to not pay these QBs as much as they do
So. how does an NFL team win without a really good QB?
Also remember it’s not just the qb who makes the win. Qb have a lot on the plate because they run the show. They become the image of the team.
I wonder what it's like to never have to worry about money ....
Easy to say you don't want money when you don't have to struggle
Didn’t say he didn’t want money. He said he already got the money, so now, he concentrates on the winning aspects of the game.
@jpogigtxcr1778 so is that saying everyone else is about the money and not the focus of winning?
Exactly buddy, ur point?

Well Patty boy is definitely not married to a super model lol
If you're hungry you gone do whatever it takes to eat.
To be fair you will make a ton of money off your brand. And if your brand is know for winning superbowls then the money the league pays you is just play money. Merchandise and brand sales will set these players for life
Not the model music 😂😂😂😂 he really does have a fighting spirit tho

They're ALL over paid. Absolutely insane and no excuse for it. I'm a master carpenter. Worked on one of these QB's new home. When I gave him a quote for installing his imported "Russian" Siberian Pine 10"inch crown mold he flipped and got an attitude. I respectfully said "Well you do it then." One week later I was installing his crown mold. There's a serious disconnect concerning pay in all professions. Especially the blue collar jobs and WE as a society are at fault for making it ok and not standing up for ourselves and sticking together in a "Fairness" for us all.
If we paid the politicians their salary instead, they would calm down and stop provoking wars for fun AND the sports would be played by the most competitive instead of complacent
Are you a communist or something? It's called capitalism, the market sets the price. 🤯🤯🤯
I get your point but there’s certainly an excuse for it. They’re paid in respect to the money the generate, who else should be getting the money that they generated? It’s not like they’re being paid with tax dollars.
Supply and demand. If tens of millions of people wanted to watch you do carpentry you’d make millions to! Don’t be mad at them because they choose a profession that has massive demand and as such massive pay behind the positions.
