Was playing Clocktower with Holly like a week after Moonrakers aired, and I can tell you, the grudge is real 😂 we were all having a great time thinking about Adams impending doom. Glad to see it finally pay off 😂😂
I’m sure someone has suggested but I feel we need a win counter for everyone. Maybe a digital one at the end of the game for how many wins on NRB total or for the year. (Maybe this can help prove how good Laurie is even more😂)
Glad to see some Power Ranger level color coordination so we can tell which person is playing which pieces. (Holly and Sully with green and blue shirts, respectively, and Adam and Laurie with yellow and red hair, respectively.)
It's surprisingly harsh that losing the opening roll means you go last on placing meeples every round, and on placing your boats, and there have already been three tiles lost and three creature rolls before you even take your first turn. I was totally expecting either some kind of back and forth alternation of clockwise-counterclockwise, or else whoever placed last went first. But nope, just a big advantage for rolling high and a big disadvantage for being to the right of whoever rolled high. Very cool game otherwise, and a great video as always!
I fucking love this group, and this is quickly becoming a favorite of my board game channels as it focuses on the social aspect of gaming. I’ve bought both Blood on the Clocktower and Cosmic Encounter because of this channel, and I can’t wait to see more.
I remember playing a version of this game back in the 80s. The island was composed of plastic pieces. 1 Grey Central Mountain Peak, which is the last part to sink. 6 Grey Mountains, surrounding the cetral peak. 12 Green Lowlands, surronding the mountains. 18 Yellow Beach, surrounging the lowlands. The creatures were, Green Sea Monsters. Orange Octopusses. Black Shark Fins. Each player controlled 12 coloured wooden pawns, to represent their tribesmen. Unlike in this game the tribesmen were all of equal value, so it was all about who could get the most survivors to an island. First time I played, I managed to get all my tribe to safety, by loading them into boats with pawns from other tribes. The boat moves more often, and others are less likely to attack. Also because I looked like I was relying on others to help save my tribe, I was a less obvious target. If one person got full control of a boat, then every one else targeted that boat. When 3 players are targeting 1 boat, it disappears fast, bu when 3 players are protecting 1 boat, it survives a long enough to reach an island. About half way through, one of my mates noted that I'd already got half my tribe to safety, 3 more were in boats that had already reached the outer islands, just waiting to off load, and my last 3 were in boats, each with pawns from 2 other tribes. My next turn, the 3 at the outer islands went ashore, and no-one was able to attack the remaining boats without killing off one of their pawns, so my last 3 guys helped in saving a few others. Afterall, as the dominant tribe, I need slaves to help me prosper in my new life. Thanks for taking me back to my youth guys.
Absolutely love all your vids. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to have a colored post it note or something in front of the player that matches their meeple. That way you know at a glance who's the green player or blue player, etc.
Man, no bet and Adam is immediately dunked on again. God, I love this channel. Happy to see Adam taking the initiative here, if everyone's gonna target you, might as well give them a reason to! This is gonna be another great year for BGC.
Yeah. Adam, pretty sure bringing up House Rules, the series where you just keep beating Sully and getting him drunk isn't the kind of bonding moment you think it is.
Fun stuff as always and the legacy grudge only grows in dark power, but I’ll be honest: my biggest reaction was for the “coming next week” reveal. Literally gasped and did a double-take. Cannot wait to see the gang play next week.
Well. In Adams defense there is a certain efficiency. If you know you're going to be burning bridges over the course of the year, you might as well set them on fire immediately.
It's been so long since I've played this game that this is going to be very fun to watch Edit: I misremembered the game, this isn't the game I played but I'm still excited to watch it.
...so. It's the first week of the semester. My classes are filled with people who do not understand mathematics. Who have managed to get into college but make mistakes when counting single digit numbers. Who consumed thirty minutes of my life trying to understand that the line drawn on a piece of paper between 7 and 9 passed through 8. And so I come to youtube to watch a board game or two and get away from the mathematically illiterate. Laurie: Triangles are weak shapes. Right, that tears it. Time to break out the correction hammer, warpaint, and lozenges.
I am surprised Smash Up hasn't hit BGC yet. Maybe for Laurie's birthday? And it could start a trend of "birthday bring a game" videos maybe? If people are up for it either scheduled for or additional to regular BGC videos. Could even lead to the debut of Luke Owen either playing King of Tokyo again or bringing out King of New York.
Isn't Smash Up 2 player? The only 2p ones I remember other than House Rules has been during Lord of the Board, so maybe then? Edit - never mind, it goes up to 4. Maybe I just read it is best at 2? So maybe still one for Lord of the Board?
Last Year Adam played to determine if he would play Monopoly and We ALL lost. I say this year, you guys beat the hell out of Adam and hit him hard any and every chance you can.
We used to own this game when I was little. Our version had big chunky 3D pieces of island. It didn't have the nice looking board though. It made for a cool playground to play with as a kid, too.
You can only take tiles that are open to the sea First, you must choose a tile adjacent to at least one sea space (even if it’s a space which previously had a Terrain tile).
I was just thinking about how a possible Legacy Game of it could work, but a quick search reveals that Cosmic Encounter has an expansion called Cosmic Odyssey that has a new campaign mode? That's neat!
I have, and play, the earlier version of this game. I like the extra strategy of the meeples having values and scores each. But I love some of the mechanics of the earlier game - and especially the spinner instead of the dice. I think I'll be getting a copy of this game to add to the collection.
After seeing the Pokémon theme being broken up by Sully's coughing, now I want best of the month videos with all the best bits similar to the Best of Wrestletalk ones.
My gaming group can get a bit on the hyper-competitive side, so mean games like this aren't always my favorite to play. But hot damn if it isn't fun to watch a mean game cause these four to absolutely implode in saltiness 😂
I belive it 2nd or 3rd print. Original game was plastic tiles and had rings of terain hight thus sand were out edges forest mountain then tip top capital. Also each space held 3 meeples max but they were like tiny aphrodite statues.
I love this game but I don't play with this level of aggression with the kids. I was hoping to see it on the channel someday and it's exactly as expected. Excellent! Fun fact: the french title for this game is just "The Island" (in English)
The only thing i would change to this game, rules-wise, is either make all the meeples have one point or have them randomized around the board ie the players dont know where theyre putting their 6s. I feel like if u get screwed over in the early game and lose your 6, it's almost impossible to claw your way back.
Not gonna lie, I was fully expecting Laurie, during the triforce meeting, to creep in behind Adam from off left-screen and angry-whisper "I am going to hurt you and crush everything you love" into Adam's ear while he wasnt paying attention.
54:38 Now since wind in the willows is one of my favourite books, I do have to mention that the weasels are not nice characters, they drive out mole and ratty , who are guarding Mr.Toads home while he’s in prison and invade it. They are THE main antagonists of the book, they are also described as the untrustworthy inhabitants of the wild woods and can therefore be interpreted to be the source of the weird noises and eyes Mole sees when he gets frightened in there. Now that all being said Adam was probably thinking about the Otter which is a good character in the books.

@NRB I'm surprise you didn't use the expansion so more of the crew could have played this game
I already miss the sword of Monopoly hanging over Adam's head. What a journey that was.
Betcha he doesn't! :D
Haven't been watching for a while, did Adam win 22 games?
@@pankajthakur65 Yep, just in time
He needs a new quest
You mean the Sword of Hasbroicles.
"The pot stirs itself at this fuccing point"
Banger quote
"triangles, classically a very weak shape"
Starting the year off strong there Laurie 😂
Coming back to that joke later was absolutely delightful
He set up that joke and delivered later in amazing fashion
"the beach disappeared, and a landlocked whale grew out of its place"
What you've done there mate, is built a SeaLife Centre
Cannot overstate how wonderful it was to hear Teri laugh when Adam tried to get Holly on board 47:17
The ongoing grudges among these four turn every game into a Legacy game.
(Maybe this can help prove how good Laurie is even more😂)
lol of course Adam immediately wins a game when there's no chalkboard to worry about
Glad to see some Power Ranger level color coordination so we can tell which person is playing which pieces. (Holly and Sully with green and blue shirts, respectively, and Adam and Laurie with yellow and red hair, respectively.)
Holly is the Triforce of the Trifle from Friends because when it comes to her and Adam, she's also bringing a major beef!
“The Pyramids, basically falling down.”
*one of the most enduring structures ever built by man*
Tbf, The Black Pyramid has collapsed.
It was made of mudbrick... within the Niles flood zones.
It's surprisingly harsh that losing the opening roll means you go last on placing meeples every round, and on placing your boats, and there have already been three tiles lost and three creature rolls before you even take your first turn. "Now you're feeling how like the Czechoslovakians felt, eh?" Sully killed me with this!
THIS WAS SO GOOD
Adam why. Just why.
His fear at the end took me out laughing
Get on board ... before Atlantis sinks!
May I suggest a tally board of all winners and losers? Also thanks for letting me know to rewatch moonrakers
I love how it started with "let's not dwell on the grievance of the past year" so everyone started to dwell on the grievances of this game only lmao
I fucking love this group, and this is quickly becoming a favorite of my board game channels as it focuses on the social aspect of gaming. I’ve bought both Blood on the Clocktower and Cosmic Encounter because of this channel, and I can’t wait to see more.
Also love Sullivan just spitting out random sounds to sing the Pokémon a song lol 😂

So strange not to see the chalk board come out at the end of the episode. New year, new Adam I suppose
Adam really channelled his Anne Boleyn 🎵Sorry, not sorry 'bout what I did. What was I meant to do🎵
Just tryin'a have some fun...
New year, New goal: 23 Laurie losses, and you don't have to play Monopoly! *Adam Pearce voice* IT IS OFFICIAL!
Absolutely love all your vids. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to have a colored post it note or something in front of the player that matches their meeple. That way you know at a glance who's the green player or blue player, etc.

This is gonna be another great year for BGC.
It would have been funny to have a “previously on Moonrakers” montage or some scenes spliced in. Gotta feel that resentment. Haha
Ah the first BGC of the new year, how I've been longing for this.
ITS THE BEST TIME OF THE WEEK!!! It’s BOARD GAME CLUB!!! NEW YEAR NEW BOARD GAME CLUB!!
I don’t know why the un-bleeped episodes are so good, but dear god this is A+ content. Thank you!
Sully John is not something I knew I needed in my life. Thank you for that edit. :)
The ending feels so weird without the chalkboard lol
This video is just a stealth advert for the Moonrakers one...
Yes, I will watch it! 😅
Super on board and excited for another year of BGC! Happy New Year everyone! ❤
Yeah. Adam, pretty sure bringing up House Rules, the series where you just keep beating Sully and getting him drunk isn't the kind of bonding moment you think it is.
“I don’t know what’s on the bottom of that little gentleman” is my new catchphrase. 💁🏻
Was waiting for this. Still the best part of the week for me. Thank you so much NRB.
Fun stuff as always and the legacy grudge only grows in dark power, but I’ll be honest: my biggest reaction was for the “coming next week” reveal. Literally gasped and did a double-take. Cannot wait to see the gang play next week.

Edit: I misremembered the game, this isn't the game I played but I'm still excited to watch it.
Laurie, I 100% support you settling some grudges through playing smash up.
@49:21, Holly's pride at a great catch *instantly* being canceled out. 😆 Sorry, Holly.
Adam and Sully: lovers to enemies
Just played this on New Years. A classic.
One of my favorite board games of all time. So glad y’all got a chance to play it

It’s been months since they played this game I bought it right away and my friends and I are playing this every weekend now
This game is so delightfully mean. I love it. You cannot get upset about what happens in Survive!
Well, I suppose I need to watch the Moonrakers game now!
I see the new year is beginning with a SPLASH! The absolute grudge-holding skills and still!
To a new, more chaotic boardgame year!
Last Year Adam played to determine if he would play Monopoly and We ALL lost. I say this year, you guys beat the hell out of Adam and hit him hard any and every chance you can.
I think it's great we're not keeping track of Adam's W/L this year then. It's the fun we had along the way that really matters.
I love how simple the game is and that it rolls into such a source of vendettas.
We used to own this game when I was little. Our version had big chunky 3D pieces of island. It didn't have the nice looking board though. It made for a cool playground to play with as a kid, too.

1:00:10 idk if Laurie just decided to come up with that himself, but I like to think that's a Warhammer fantasy reference with the book of grudges.
LAURIE: It's definitely a reference
@@NoRollsBarred glad someone on the channel is a man of culture.
This makes me think of forbidden island/desert/skies. A trifecta of decreasing play space boardgames. Very fun, very stressful
This game looks so fun, basic understanding that I think anyone can pick up right away with still a lot of strategy! I will probably be buying this ❤😁
I just picked it up. I'm so excited to get it on the table.
I am surprised this episode didn't contain an edit placing Sully as Mike Haggar piledriving a shark.
I was just thinking about how a possible Legacy Game of it could work, but a quick search reveals that Cosmic Encounter has an expansion called Cosmic Odyssey that has a new campaign mode? That's neat!
I remember this game from your Meanest Board Games Ever Made video😂
Their little westcountry accents make me smile.
Love a game that allows for unlimited vindictiveness throughout! And trifle, of course.
It's such a great game! Just remember that whales and sea serpents (kraken as you called them) only destroy boats when occupied.
Adam you now have to win 23 games this year or we riot
I have, and play, the earlier version of this game. I like the extra strategy of the meeples having values and scores each. But I love some of the mechanics of the earlier game - and especially the spinner instead of the dice. I think I'll be getting a copy of this game to add to the collection.
I love to see that for the year 2023, Adam has chosen violence 👊
After seeing the Pokémon theme being broken up by Sully's coughing, now I want best of the month videos with all the best bits similar to the Best of Wrestletalk ones.
First game of the year. Feels good. Happy New Year everyone!
My gaming group can get a bit on the hyper-competitive side, so mean games like this aren't always my favorite to play. But hot damn if it isn't fun to watch a mean game cause these four to absolutely implode in saltiness 😂
Oh yes! ISS Vanguard is so good!
I belive it 2nd or 3rd print. Original game was plastic tiles and had rings of terain hight thus sand were out edges forest mountain then tip top capital. Also each space held 3 meeples max but they were like tiny aphrodite statues.
There was a chance that with a new year and without Monopoly at stake, Adam could not be the one everyone wants to loose. That hope quickly vanished.
Adam vs Everybody: 2023 Feud of the Year
Give Adam a new task this year!
I'm counting this as an early B-day present
Smash Up! Yes please, would make a great future episode 😁 great content as always guys 👍
I love this game but I don't play with this level of aggression with the kids. I was hoping to see it on the channel someday and it's exactly as expected. Excellent! Fun fact: the french title for this game is just "The Island" (in English)
One of my favourite games at the moment...
7:22 Triangles are actually the most structurally sound shape.
The only thing i would change to this game, rules-wise, is either make all the meeples have one point or have them randomized around the board ie the players dont know where theyre putting their 6s. I feel like if u get screwed over in the early game and lose your 6, it's almost impossible to claw your way back.
See Adam i told you 2023 would going to be a good year for you!!!!
I'm glad Adam won this one
This was a lovely video, I really liked this game and the pettiness was hilarious!
Just bought this game....im very excited to play
This game is fun! Love the simplicity
I don't know why, but this episode really reminded me of Moonrakers
Love survive but this is a game we always play with the expansion the dolphins and giant squids are fun plus the other die adds more death and chaos.
This should have been called a sequel to Moonrakers. Recommended watching/re-watching Moonrakers before this, or after then watch this again.
This board has so many grudges it's basically a Dwarf army from Warhammer Fantasy
I would really love seeing you guys play Heat, pedal to the metal!
Loving the Montresor level revenge.
Not gonna lie, I was fully expecting Laurie, during the triforce meeting, to creep in behind Adam from off left-screen and angry-whisper "I am going to hurt you and crush everything you love" into Adam's ear while he wasnt paying attention.
Be even better if Adam no-sold it until Laurie went off-screen again, then a look of terror just seeps into his face
I already miss the chalkboard.
Love your play through's . Can you at Heat Pedal to the metal
54:38 Now since wind in the willows is one of my favourite books, I do have to mention that the weasels are not nice characters, they drive out mole and ratty , who are guarding Mr.Toads home while he’s in prison and invade it. Really need to see this Moonraker episode
