I recorded this guy off public tv's airing of Austin City Limits on vhs tape. When he came to Milwaukee to play at Shank Hall, I bought a ticket, saw the show and after the show, he chatted with the audience. I brought the video tape with me and he autographed it. He really is an alright guy!😊
I saw country singer Tracy Byrd in Huntsville, Alabama in 1994. He has a hit with one of Todd’s songs: “Trouble”. He gave props to Todd for writing such a great song. Been a fan ever since.
Love your songs and the stories accompanying them, Todd. Don’t know why I’m only seeing this now. Also saw one of you back in the day, singing at South by Southwest, about pesticides, etc., just came through my feed this week. This is an easy radio song, we should be hearing you on radio and on here more. Best luck to a more than all right guy.🌸🌸🌸
Todd’s one of the greatest songwriters in the world. It’s kind of mind boggling listening back through his live archives on his site. I highly recommend it. Dudes gotta eat.
An outstanding song on every level...and the video is a fine supplement. The heart of this tune comes first, flash n' dazzle second; let everyone live up to this stellar example...and feelin' good's good enough!
I once witnessed a wedding proposal coming from the booth behind me at an Applebee's in the mid-2000s. They were both very drunk. Applebee's drunk. Her first response was to ask him why. He replied basically with the chorus to this song.
I remember this song from 25 years ago. The radio station Q102 in DFW, Texas did not censor "dope" or "dicks". I guess you could call this style PG 13 roots rock. Goes good with John Mellencamp.
@SouthCoastMackem It was the first song he played when he returned from being suspended from his Radio 2 drivetime show. That was the first time I heard it and I've loved it ever since!
Loved this song the moment I heard it. Reminds me of my daughter justifying some rule violation by saying, "At least I didn't do any drive-by shootings!"
I remember that Johnnie Walker (then a DJ on "Classic Gold" in the UK played this as a tribute to Ronnie Lane when he passed way, it was the first time i'd heard it, and it was just perfect for the occasion. An excellent, witty and wry song (well, the uncensored version is better!). :-)
been workin on this one i cant wait to meet todd one day and beat him at his own songs strong statement i want to live up too !! cant wait for tomorrows show !!
@outalinecowboy It's a trippy movie anyway, so I figured I might as well see if I could figure out what the more distorted things were. And then I saw it. o.0
The theme song of my life and I lived in Beaverton right before I left the islands. If the bio is correct, Todd went to Sunset High School in Beaverton. I believe the jail in this song is Tillamook County.
Seemed Alright last Wednesday. And the funniest thing, all night this woman up front was part of an ever increasing resistance to whatever the house was telling her to do. Right when Todd sings about the cops in the third verse, in comes a squad and nearly makes this resisting woman do the electric chicken before cuffing her and pulling her out of the middle seats of the fourth row. Todd kept singing semi aware that this was going on between us and him. Shit happens, but not usually at a folk concert. I Blame it on Cid.
A lot of "alright guys" don't have a clue why they are having problems. If you can't see the change you need to go through to be better then you will always think you are an "alright guy". 🤔

When everything sucks, take a cold beer and listen to this song! Believe me, everything gonna be allright again! :D Nobody is perfect!
Very under rated talent., this dude is a musical genius
Todd's been around for a while and released a number of good albums. Good natured, eclectic music done well. He's an alright guy!
Todd rules!
A true talent from back when musicians had talent and autotune didn't exist
Todd, I can listen to this song every day ( and gotta dance ).
It never gets old.
Love you, man. ✌🏻💜😇
Aint heard this in 25 years and just fount it.
How did I never hear this song until now? I think it's my new theme song. Great song, Todd. Love it.

As a recovering human being, I identify with this song…
I saw country singer Tracy Byrd in Huntsville, Alabama in 1994. He has a hit with one of Todd’s songs: “Trouble”. He gave props to Todd for writing such a great song. Been a fan ever since.
Underrated talented dude !

To all the people who don't know about Todd Snider and think this is a Gary Allen song... you're really missing out.

Alternative country from heaven! :)
Been a fan since the first time I heard this song.
Me too. Had this CD in my car in High School and this song hits home even harder now that I’m older. I try.

So do I, Todd. So do I. Thank you for writing down what I couldn't say. God bless brother.

My favorite song
I think I'm alright. 👍
Yet an alright guy! 👍🏻
Me too.
Loved this song the moment I heard it. Reminds me of my daughter justifying some rule violation by saying, "At least I didn't do any drive-by shootings!"
I am glad those two words were censored. I am not sure I could have handled the explicit version.
Johnny Walker introduced me to this - Radio 2 guy not the whisky
My theme song to my life and just coincidence that we are both from the west side of Portland.
I think so too.
yes yes its todd
First time I heard this song was Coby Yates. Thought is was a Gary Allen song. Glad I found the original 😁
My therapist recommended this to me. This is pretty good.

Was Rodger Scott who opened my ears to him...and many more.
That's all right ain't it!
Great song. Sorry that they felt that they had to censor it.
The video was released in 1995, probably censored so it could get played on TV.
Oooooh how dare you call cops dicks
Todd IS an alright guy! But, damn, VEVO you censored the hell out of really good song!

Did they censor the word dope? Seriously?
Yeah, wtf?
Good that they censor it, might make me heroin addict if they didn't
I can’t believe it! Wtf!? It’s the word “dope” for god’s sake. And “dicks” too?
I thought at first he just mouthed it, but you’re right it must’ve been edited. I definitely SEEN the word dope. !!
been workin on this one i cant wait to meet todd one day and beat him at his own songs strong statement i want to live up too !! cant wait for tomorrows show !!
Well personally I love the secret service mandolin player . . .
JESSE STEWART .......maurauder. Besst mandolin. and a canadian.....
sorry . i meant look im up lol
Jesus Vevo...do you think we can't handle the words dope or dicks? The way Todd wrote it is the way we want to hear it.
There used to be a great rock station in Terre Haute, IN that played this song a lot. RIP WZZQ
Is that the gay station?
My favorite song about the Dunning Kruger Effect
When you learn a bit more about the Dunning Kruger effect you will realise what a lame comment this is.
Noice
Ha, ha nice look Todd.
@outalinecowboy It's a trippy movie anyway, so I figured I might as well see if I could figure out what the more distorted things were. And then I saw it. o.0

He has another song on the same album about being in jail and something the guys in there call the Tillamook County lie detector test
Love to move in w Brenda Laramore
@darthan666 Todd wrote this song. Gary Alan or Allen whatever covered it
The last 10 years have been hard on Todd, he now looks like Iggy Pop and Keith Richards love child.

@stablematter " Dope "
Everybody has skeletons mine just happen to be n the trunk instead of the closet.LOL
It's pretty amusing that they mute out "weed" but leave "scumbag" in :)
There's a hell of a lot of guys worse than me and that's all I do anymore I smoke a little dope

I think I'm an alright guy
Don't drop the soap! 😂😂😂
I hear Eddy Shaver's guitar
Very
It makes me really bummed when people think that this and tractor trailer drinking and waving the flag country is the same thing.
