Hi Debbie.I have a husband that is Hungarian and his Mom taught me years ago how to make this only a little different.I do all the same except no butter and she always added about a quart of tomatoes.Oh my it is delicious. My Kids really liked it when they were young.I'm going to try it your way although my husband hates me messing with perfection.Thank you Debbie ,I always look forward to your recipes.
💕 I had to watch this again, now that I have sausage I need to use. I love watching (& listening) to you cook ! Bless your heart that you're doing everything from your wheelchair ! Love you, gal ! Thank you so much !! 🤗🤗🤗♥️♥️♥️
I’m glad I found your channel as I’m in a similar situation, where I can’t stand for very long, & use a Walker. I swear I tried this once & got potato water, but I’m going to try it again. I used to make this at the stove, & fry it, & the only differences for me was I’d add a diced onion or 2, a bunch of minced garlic, & smoked paprika. I even threw in mushrooms if I had them in the fridge. It would come out so good that my nephew used to have me make it whenever he was home from college. I’m definitely going to try it again! Thank you & just know you’re not alone in cooking at the dining room table!
Thanks for this recipe! I had some previously prepped and frozen potatoes. I used five Arnold’s brand smoked beef sausages and topped them enough Savoy cabbage to fill my 6qt IP. I set it for 25 minutes since the potatoes were frozen. The result was a pot full of unctuous yumminess. Thanks so much again!
I'm new to Instant Pot, this is the second thing I've cooked in it, did it today and it came out very well. The cabbage is the way my husband likes it, no chewing needed. Potatoes were great. I added onion. The only negative if you'd call it that was I had more liquid than anticipated @ end of cooking, going to make that a positive by using the excess flavored liquid to cook my brown rice. It should add real flavor because, in addition to the smoked sausage, I threw in some Johnsonville Louisiana sausage that had a bit of kick to it. Next time, I'll cut my cooking time and liquid. BTW, my 6 qt pot was full, no problem sealing, wouldn't have done that with a different kind of vegetable.
I have different sausage though, I have those Eckridge Beef skinless smoked sausage those ones that have been around forever I think lol they come 2 in a pack and idk if they still come rolled up with skin on? I suppose I can just cut those up? I was gonna brown mine a little first. We use to have them as a kid fried with fried potatoes and sauerkraut and I loved that meal or this one similar to yours, do you use russet potatoes?
This looks so good ! This looks like it could feed a lot of people and it could certainly be an option for my Super Bowl Sunday Party ! Thank You for the Wonderful Recipe , Have a Good Day .
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have all the ingredients (except the smokey salt). What could I substitute instead? I have a bit of smokey b-b-q sauce - perhaps that will do. Anyway, I’m making it tomorrow for dinner. Just needed to find out what buttons to push and how long, etc. Your instructions are nice and clear. I feel quite confident that I can do this. I *was* kind of worried about how much cabbage one could add. Now I know I can fill it right up. Thanks, once again. 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
Mmmhhmm.. do you have any recipes for Diabetics and no chew? I know i can eat this recipe you just did. I need elderly friendly on a budget.. God bless you.❤
Hi Debbie. My name is John my wife is Joyce. Joyce is a stroke victim she’s not able to cook. So I’m trying to do all of the cooking. I purchased a pot like the one you’re using. I think you said set it on manual for 20 minutes. Then wait for the pressure to come down to zero
Joegenova - I do believe that early in her comments, while she is preparing the ingredients, she says that she lets it de-pressurize naturally, she doesn’t do the quick release. She kind of repeats it a couple more times throughout the demonstration. Hope this helps. 😊 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
I am in a wheelchair as well and they just got an electric wheelchair last week. I can't stand at the stove instead or anything or check it. As soon as my inheritance clears and is done I'm going to purchase a double-wide handicapped accessible home hopefully on a lake.
I dont use my stove anymore either. I live with diabetic neuropathy and chronic fibromyalgia pain.. getting older is getting harder. I know we all age. It just hurts like hell. I like trying to cook for cold leftovers. ..like chicken. I know alot of people do.
Very nice thanks for making the video. So how do I know what food is ok to overfill the pot and which ones aren't? The ones that go back down to max line after cooked would be ok?
Pretty much I may go over the line for foods that shrink as they cook...kale, greens, cabbage, soups, some meats, veggies like potatoes, carrots. And when you cook these things let them come down from the pressure on their own that way it won't sputter and get all over your cabinets etc. The more you cook with it, the more you will learn and it will come so easy to you. Good luck and have a great week!!
Hey hon!! I let this cook on manual for 20 minutes and I let it come down on its on. You don't have to let it come down on its on but I would let it come down at least 10-15 minutes. It's so good. Have a great week!!
that looks so delicious.. i'm imagining cut up turnip in there, too .. even carrots LOL i'm thinking of stew

Hello. This was a very popular recipe from back in the day (I am from Eastern Europe) we add smoked paprika and you can also add sauerkraut.
Made this twice so far, we love it! Easy enough & tastes great. Thanks

Thank you Marilyn from Texas!! Have a great week!!
Looks delicious 😋😋😋
Making this right now...will let you know how it turns out :D
Did you release the pressure or did you let the pressure naturally and gradually dissipate?
Joegenova - I do believe that early in her comments, while she is preparing the ingredients, she says that she lets it de-pressurize naturally, she doesn’t do the quick release. She kind of repeats it a couple more times throughout the demonstration. Hope this helps. 😊
