Hey I have a question my honda trx 300ex when I click the button I hear the clicking on the solenoid but it wont start sometimes could it be that the starter is bad or the solenoid
@@matthewsizemore3701 I think that it is more likely to be the solenoid, depending on the starters age. Solenoids are pretty cheap, I’d recommend you start with that.

Ecdc 04 it is supposed to click after a cold start until they are warmed up if it still does after its warmed up then the valves might have to be adjusted
You have to watch with these bikes that the valves don’t get tight and you keep driving it. The cam sprocket are pressed onto the cam shaft and it will spin on the shaft and throw off the timing.
@@ronniewilliz153 when it happened to mine. I replaced the cam, I’m sure you could but I wasn’t sure if it would throw it off or pull the sprocket towards one side making it crooked.
I have a 06 dvx 400, great quad it’s just the swingarm is cracked and the center plastics are cracked. If you ever think about parting it out I’d take some parts!! Great video!
I ride a dvx to activate reverse there is a nob on the right where your knee is but mine in on my handle bar but it should be Near your right knee or leg
You should be using Deoxit to clean your electrical contacts. Its simply the best corrosion cleaner. Not exactly cheap but for sale on ebay. Deoxit is magic. I use it on my cb radios pots. Take the starter off and lube it up that usually works wonders. Use lithium grease not wd40 it evaporates quickly.
Its a suzuki ltz 400 with arctic cat logos and plastics. Suzuki made them for Kawasaki, and arctic cat for three years. If you look at the sticker on the bottom of the frame it says made by suzuki I believe they made them from 04 to 07 if I'm not mistaken. The only thing different on the kawi and the Dvx are the plastics and headlights. Everything else is a suzuki ltz 400. Engines are pretty much bullet proof.
To check oil properly you let quad idle for 3 minutes then shut off for 3 minutes to check it properly. Holds 2200 mL with filter change. Drain oils from engine and reservoir tank
2vintage,,,, you should get a 2009 Polaris predator 525 independent rear suspension, the quads are probably one of the best ones built for racing and mud!
On some quads, you have to pull in the break leaver to start it. When you pull the break in it finishes the connection and allows the starter to crank over. it wont even crank over sometimes if the break isn't pulled in. The wire might be screwed up.
sometimes when the starter clicks like that you can take a 10 mil or what ever the size of the bot that connects power to it and move it around and it will also work
Would think it would be tile the 400ex where the carb pumps a little shot of gas into the cylinder when you hit the throttle idk if it’s on this carb but if it is maybe the plunger is bad & isn’t pumping that shot into the carb ? My 400ex starts on the coldest days because of that I just hit the throttle of few times like a old carbureted car & it fires right up lol

You will have to buy a shim kit and re shim the valves to spec it’s really easy. Just did it on my ltz. Mine would not start at all when they went out of spec
I had to change out the shims on mine also. The only way I could start it was from rolling it. After that it ran fine and idled fine. After the shim change it starts fine but will not idle without the choke on. Did the changes I did make this issue or is the carb dirty. I didn’t have any idle issue before the adjustment.

I guess he'd just have to follow the cable; goes to brakes, parking brake; goes to carb, it's a hot start. It looks exactly like the hot start on my crf250x, though. I know it's an atv not a dirt bike, but it's still a liquid-cooled four stroke engine, should have something like a hot start or decomp lever, right?
My friend has one that won’t start cranking with the starter but if you pull it and push it it’ll start but if it stalls you gotta pop start it again. It wants to cut out sometimes. Do you think it’s the valves?
I have one LTZ 400 2005 and i rebuild the all motor and its a nice machine with Léo vince lx3 exhaust. In that motor you have 2 cams and the TRX only have 1 cam
I have a ltz400 (same as dvx). Mine had no compression when I got it, did the valves and runs great now. Fun quad tho. Btw stock swingarms are garbage and frames are also known to crack above the front shock mounts. Also trx450 front shocks bolt right in. Get rid of the pogo stick shocks that come on 03 and 04s
If they are tight sand them down, if you couldn’t get a .05mm feeler in there take them out. Measure them, sand off.05mm then reinstall. Repeat till your in spec, just take your time or you will have to buy shims, either way it’s a guessing game since you couldn’t get a feeler gauge under it to see what your starting out at.

I have one and love it, it should be easier to hold a wheelie longer than a 400ex. Most common issue is a couple water pump seals

What makes these bikes great is there’re exactly the same as the Kawasaki, Suzuki, artic Kat. So parts are easy to find.
you add the coolant in the overflow tank its on the left and it was empty
im pretty sure the small lever is a hotstart , connects to carberator for when the bike is hot.

Looks similar to mine , except mines bedlinered! Parts are easy to get , same engine as the LTZ400 and KFX400. Overall great machines.

Yes I agree I have a 2005 kfx400 same engine 100% great engine except the swimming has to be done every 2 years or so

My buddy had 1 of these a few years back. Wasn't the fastest thing around but it was a lot of fun on the trials.

Had an '08 irs and it was fast and seemed more stable but for some reason only a few pounds less this kfx 400 seems lighter. Call me crazy

Was the emergency brake lever taken off of the clutch perch? If so the clutch pull start had to be spliced.

also you can jump the bike by bridging the solenoid bolts and that will help determine the starter or button also.

Did you have the throttle wide open while you compression tested it because if you didn’t it will cause a low reading
I have a 04 Kawasaki kfx and the connections under the fender on the right side are in a bad place and they are known to come apart

When looking. For parts I’ve found the Ltz parts tend to be cheaper than dvx listed ones even tho they are the exact same thing lol
It’s cuz the dvx 400 is more rare so people think if they just put dvx they can charge more lol

The little lever on the handlebars is the hot start lever, not reverse.
Pretty sure that's the parking brake, that's where it was on my LTZ400

I've raced a DVX 400, with my YFZ450, there's no comparison at all the DVX couldn't keep up with my YFZ.

When I did a valve shim job on my predator that was just a headache
I've had starter solenoids fail on me all the time. It's usually very rare that its the actual switch itself.

Those swing arms like to crack around the weld, near the hole in it. Last two I've had were broke.

Spark was bouncing around on the plug.. could check your gap and give it a better spark
