Flowing and adaptive, focused in the present moment - you don't let technique stultify you - better than most of the kung fu vids I've seen, with awkwardly self-conscious and rehearsed-looking movements like in a videogame.
Ok but you really, really need to get gloves, shin guards, cup and mouth piece if you want to truly spar and train as it is meant to be trained. In our school when we include striking to our Shuai Jiao Kung Fu grappling we use protection gear otherwise we can't train in a realistic way.
Wouldn't training without gloves allow you to condition your hands better so you can actually use them in a confrontation? It's not like you spar full force anyway in striking arts, you don't want to knock your sparring partner out. Sparring without gloves also allows to you to maintain the integrity of tactics like using hard to strike soft and soft to hard (ie palm to head) which are made relatively meaningless with gloves, though I'm not against the use of mouthpieces.
At our school, Combat Shuai Jiao, we do spar full force once you reach the intermediate level. This is why protection is very important for us. We do use palm strikes as well. Our gloves are not the heavy boxing gloves but rather the MMA gloves that allow fingers to be exposed so that we can include grappling. As far as conditioning goes, you are right it is important that is why heavy bag training is something that cannot be ignored.

Do you have any full on sparring matches with mma gloves on video?
I'm working on it
This reminds me of a light sparring session I had with a karateka many years ago. Nice video.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!

You're talking about training for the ring.
I'm talking about keeping the training as realistic as possible without hurting your partner.

Sounds good to me, what striking system do you incorporate for your Shuai Jiao? I'm genuinely curious.
