People don't understand, when you don't live here and you move here. It's like your life restarted so his parents to be able to create a whole subway franchise is actually very impressive.
Then it’s different for everybody because my parents brought me here to the U.S about 4 years ago and they don’t like the idea of me being stuck in one place forever, they say that if they brought me here is to become bigger and achieve bigger than what I had back in my country ... I’ve always worked with my dad and always been paid what I deserved yes I pay for my own stuff but trust me a real parent wouldn’t be more happy than seeing his child become independent
I also manned my parents' bakery, and when I was younger before I was allowed to handle the maths needed to deal with money I just sat in the store and called an adult if a customer comes in. It's just a thing that can be done, like doing chores such as washing dishes to help your parents out a bit at home.
I like how you threw those unripened tomatoes back. My pet peeve is getting crunchy, unripe, white tomatoes on a sandwich. Class act move you did there. Respect.
I respect you not just because you work for free just because you thought about your mom and dad and how they made life easier for you props to you man
After WW2, my great-grandfather opened up a sub shop in 1965 called Mr G's in Stoughton MA. In 1979, he opened the Kwik-E Sub Shop in Needham. The whole family worked there, and it was constantly busy with regular customers. I'm glad your family is all working together and helping one another.
"When I told my tiktok audience, it completely backfired on me" Congratulations, you got lectured by children and toddlers about money and your life choices
True; kids often won't understand these things until they are older. As a child, I got mad when my parents had me help without paying. As an adult, after realizing how much they did for me, I realized that not getting paid is kinda fair. When the parents were like "you'd have to pay for your own living expenses" you realize even more that you are getting a good deal. Food, home and all of your needs while working at a Subway... that's more than worth any small part time work.
@Transgender Nigger What the fuck is your problem? It REALLY seems like you just hate white people rn. Not just white people but straight people and men too. Get your life together ya racist fuck.
I've never had subway and I'm 18. It was always too expensive. I'm getting a job this summer that pays pretty well so Subway is on my list of restaurants to try. 😁
@@teenrandomgamer1785 It’s nothing too special but it was always awesome being able to walk to the subway right by my school before a football game and we’d all be eating subs in the locker room getting ready for the game. Those Friday nights were favorite memories from high school.
As an asian i can relate to this. Not absolutely me but some of my friends are, i have a friend who works as cashier at her parents business without pay, another friend who works as a costumer service guy at his aunt's business, and another friend who helps cook at his aunt's business. Some(probably most) of their co-workers are family members as well and they are all underages, they started working for like 12-14 and up until now(17 years old) they still work there for free. It's because our family trust us in their business before they hire someone else. Btw they go to school and work at the same time, but school is their priority. They work after their school works done and they work during weekends. It must be tiring but its such a huge help especially building our confidence and social skills at a young age.
Maybe it's just me being from Europe and our cultures crush at this point, but what you just described is actually a description of illegal child labour. Age 12? Not to be drastic, but I'm a woman and at 12 I didn't even get my period, nevermind job. I get that the situation in the video is different, but what you just described sounds concerning. Also it's weird to say they have "more trust in family members" while they don't even deserve to get paid at the same time.

They do it because it's not against their will, and like milad they do it for gratitude, and they are enjoying as well. Sometimes when my family decides to eat or buy at their business, we hang out or talk about ramdom stuffs. Like when their friends are there, they instantly take their break because they own the business. And just like what I've said some of the workers are their family members as well, so everytime there are no costumers or there are only few, thay have time to hang out like playing uno and other stuffs. And the most interesting part about this is when there's a silly costumer they talk and laugh about it and sometimes they tell us, their friends about it lol. And just like what you've said u are from Europe and we have different cultures, for us illegal child labour is when the children are forced to work especially without pay and if their job can cause harm to them. It's just that this situations are normal to us and it would be funny for us if their parents or family will get cancelled because they let their kids, nieces, and nephews to work.

Being independent and paying for your own stuff is never a bad thing, my dad used to say that my mom and him wouldn’t be here forever to pay for my stuff, one day they’ll go and you’ll be by yourself having no clue of how the real world works ... experiencing and learning new things is what will carry you through life
@@_sansvisage yeah but it's been 5 years. Depending on how old he is he should start a career where he is paid and independent. Working for your parents is fine but you need to be financially secure.

Wow working for free for 5 years! Hes not learning REAL life, parent's aren't going to be there for ever and he doesn't know how to stand on 2 feet. Lol he cant even go buy himself a case of beer for himself at the shop.
"I don't get paid" and my first thought was that it was your parent's place.... I was right.... It's fine to not get paid when working at your parents place. I mean, your food, clothes and living expenses come from them anyways. So helping them with work is fair.
Not after 5 years. His parents are effectively restricting his ability to start growth outside of UA-cam. He probably in a way feels like he has to work there because just like he said.."his brothers did it."
@Michael Gia Huy Nguyen Getting paid doesn't change anything? Shut up moron don't give financial advice. He's had 5 years of garnished wages he could have invested, or started something else with. Especially if he didn't have youtube revenue.
@@cooperanderson4609 I'm not trying to be rude, but I feel that just isn't true. Here is the thing; he's paid in food, clothes and living space. Also, to say that it's restricting his growth is silly. Lots of people don't work while in school. And this will still count as work experience. Frankly, the "work experience" thing probably matters more than the money. When he's ready to live on his own, he'd get a higher paying job before then. So he'd just live with his parents until then. And if he doesn't get a better job, he can just take over the place. And frankly, MOST PEOPLE that do work end up spending the money on fun things anyways that won't help them in the future. You're comment seems to imply that most kids that get jobs are going to save for the future rather than spend it. Frankly, his willingness to work without pay instead just shows his character and his ability to have a good attitude. And work experience is worth more than the money at this point in his life.
@@TheDeathmail He's not able to save up in general. That's the issue here. His parents are gas lighting him into thinking that he either works for them or he doesn't work at all. Seriously though, enough with this " he's getting paid in food, clothes, and living space" That's not payment, that's what parents are SUPPOSED to give their kids. They voluntarily have a kid so now it's their job. That's not a benefit that kids have to earn. He states that he's been working 5 years for free for a Subway that he doesn't plan on leaving any time soon in. That's not growth. If you put on a resume that you worked at a fast food restaurant for 10 years and the entire time you were just a sandwich artist, employers would wonder why you never moved up. Something tells me he's not gonna get into any kind of managerial position when his parents are keeping him as a sandwich artist so they can get away without paying him. "Work experience matters more than money" That's just simply not true. On top of the fact that he isn't growing as an employee, him not getting paid is preventing him from growing up as a human. He probably doesn't do taxes because good ol' mom and dad are writing him off as 100% dependent and telling him that he doesn't get paid so doesn't have to. He's never gonna be able to afford a car. Probably not gonna learn about credit, might even start to realize that UA-cam doesn't pay enough or if it does, IRS is gonna come after him, might try to move out someday if he ever realizes how sucky his parents are but then he'll realize that you need credit to move out. He's just not growing and learning when he's working for his parents for free for 39 hours a week.
@@Jaakeup So what? Tons of people don't work while in school. That is nothing unusual. I didn't work while I was in school and I turned out fine. And frankly, I haven't met people that saved up their part time work money, instead using it to spend on fun stuff. And lots of young adults don't do taxes and stuff while they are in school. That is also nothing unusual. And him not moving up could be because he was young. He should still be in school after all.
And those bland tomatoes need to be thrown away. If I was working at a food restaurant. Everyday I will inspect all the meat veggies and look at it and say now does that look edible I take the tongs or put gloves on and toss it if it don't look edible. Wilted veggies is nasty

Working for free in my mind is a good thing. To show that you are sincere in what you are doing for your parents. If you are good at the job and find it enjoyable and easy although complication are rare, what is there to stop. People say this, people say that. What do they know? They only see money. Desperate. Rey Hugo hey Rey, I was in a similar situation with my parents. I worked for three years and put the money into a joint account, which they could control. They said that we can save money together and if we needed something we would just use the money from the joint account. For example, I needed a reliable car that costed a lot and they bought it for me under their insurance so that I wouldn’t pay more for teen driving insurance. My parents are smart with their money and have been generous. However, it is a tricky situation if you don’t trust your parents.
I’m currently working in my parent’s restaurant and I don’t usually get paid. It’s common for Chinese parents to have their son/daughter working at the restaurant for them. I do get “paid” once in a while but it’s more like an allowance to me. Basically I don’t get paid but my parents will be providing me the money I need once I go off to college or if I need anything, they’ll usually buy it for me.
Have you seen how many subscribers he has? And how many views his videos get? Five and a half years without getting paid is a bit strange. I understand wanting to help your parents but if they own a subway they’re definitely not doing bad for themselves.
@@zimnyzmniejszy5557 yeah but I'm pretty sure they chose to work I myself work with my dad I get paid but still it's good imo to start young you learn the meaning of hard work

@@zimnyzmniejszy5557 before they start doing their jobs they were asked if they are willing to work.

And it sounds like he didn't have a choice in starting. Which would be fine if he got PAID. I admire his feelings, but he might look back negatively in a few years.

Basically I don’t get paid but my parents will be providing me the money I need once I go off to college or if I need anything, they’ll usually buy it for me.
>parents built amazing life for me

Have you seen how many subscribers he has? And how many views his videos get? He gets paid by UA-cam for it so he makes much more money from that than he would get working for pay, at which point he’d probably not be allowed to video record. So if his parents are paying for all of his necessities, whatever he earns from UA-cam is discretionary income. I’d say he’s probably living quite comfortably now
You literally just nitpicked two things to create a narrative and ignored the actual story lol.
There was this one kitchen nightmares episode where this Father made all of his adult kids work for him for free and wondered why they didn’t care about the business. They seemed like they wanted to do their own thing

Problem is,, parents from the Ph makes their son/s and/or daughter/s act as a retirement plan. When all they did was nagging about the existence of their own child, when they were the ones that made us lol. Now, they are questioning children born from 1990s - 2000s, why are we depressed & suicidal. Little did they know, they weren’t as concerned to mental health back then.
Most business people do. They expect their kids to work for free and have no kind of plan if they decide taking over the business isn’t for them. It’s a very selfish concept.
Yup. We work for free. And when they retire they expect we give them spending money for the rest of their life.
Yupp. I never worked for free when working for my dad. But I also earned every dollar I did get because I did back breaking labor in the summer heat. Now I dont like the work and it feels weird wanting to get away from it. Same as my brother, our dad wanted us to follow in his steps and do construction. Anything else you do isn't as supported either😕
@@MrFresnoLAPD88 aw that happened to my dad. His father wanted him to take over the family business and did slimy things to my dad to benefit him, but my dad wanted to start his own business instead. My dad ventured out and started his own business and now his parents don’t like him but my dad is most definitely happy with his decision. If your parents love you they may be sad that you don’t take on their foot steps but they will be happy that you are happy. Try introducing the idea you want to venture out. It’s not fair for you to be miserable at a job you don’t really like doing.
That mindset goes a long way that instills good attitude, hard work, humility, and gratitude. It will all be worth it once you have your own family.
family absolutely means way more then money. several years ago i got sick, had to stop working, and had to move in with my mom. She took care of me and paid for all of my expenses. I became her unpaid financial advisor. four year later we bought a house and now she’s investing in our philippine families rice farm. Being healthy and having a paying job vs being sick and getting to spend more time with family, time that was missed growing up. priceless.
I agree, but I feel like he’s almost somewhat bothered by this concept and feels obligated because his siblings did the same. I’m not sure how old he is, but this can really affect him if he doesn’t desire to take over the business.
@@Ashley-jx7sw to think about it, the least you could do to repay your parents is to just visit them once in a while... Being successful in life, having a great family and make decent amount of money is already enough to make your parents proud, the way I see Milad helping out his parents is HIS way of repaying that debt. Remember... Everyone has their own specific time when they glorify into something unique, big and successful. Just remember that God has plans for you and that is what will guide you to be the best version of who you are
When adults make the choice to have children, those children are their responsibility to feed and take care and pay for them. Using them to work a business for thier own benefit is just wrong. If hes an adult then yea he should pay for his own stuff and get paid too otherwise they are just using and taking advantage of their children.

What an honourable way to show respect to your parents. I think that this shows such character, and it is so sweet how great full you are towards parents.
It sounds like your heads in the right place and you are very humble for how you see the pay situation. I certainly dont agree or recommend doing that for financial reasons. I would certainly want to pay my kids and not guilt trip them if they asked for pay
Exactly
Selfish business people. His family might have not came from anything, but they sure have picked up selfish business habits. Subway employees don’t even get paid that much.
There are additional taxes, aka when the family pay him for example 1000 a month, he pays taxes, they pay taxes as well. At the end they as a group got less money.
He gets the basic needs + some wishes payed by his parents.
Either way they got more money overall, how exactly the work equals in pay in goods and stuff only he knows.
Where I am from this can safe a ton of money for the family as a hole.
Estimated pay of 1000 to him after taxes and stuff equals 1450 cost to the employer. Roughly.
No idea how exactly it is done in USA, guessing quite similar.
Aka your family got more money and if you fair about it with pocket money anyone is happy.

Similar without being quite there: My mother works at our local subway and got me a job there back in high school. That is a great attitude knowing how fortunate you are to have great parents who have given you the opportunity to work for them and be happy. Some of those people don’t realize that it is actually better for you to live with them and work for them while you go to school or realize your dreams.
How fortunate to have parents who give you the opportunity to work for free for 5 years, pretty sure work without pay is called slavery but whatever
