- This is my second video on this exercise, and some of you proceed to like the video and then continue destroying your clients shoulders with this movement. Not even sure how to explain that one, but you should know better.

The simplicity of this exercise makes it a staple of many at home or bootcamp style workout programs, where minimal weight and equipment is available. When performed strictly, it is not the WORST exercise in the world, but as performed 95% of the time, it's putting your shoulders in an extremely dangerous position, for nominal gain. Using the risk vs reward scale as should be used to judge all exercises efficacy, this one does not make the mark.

On top of the poor shoulder positions, due to the low loads (small percentage of bodyweight), a high volume of reps (or time) is typically prescribed. As we've discussed many times before, adding hundreds of miles onto faulty wheel is a great way to blow out a tire or have a major breakdown. You will be looking for that pothole that caused the final blowout, but will likely not realize that the years spent grinding down the tire is what led to such a major issue, not that small final bump in the road.
These were included in a workout I found and just started today. I think you saved me a lot of trouble in the future, so thanks!
Wow, thank you! I always found these so hard when I would do them which is not often but will never do them again. I'll definitely do the alternative!
Right. They felt bad when I tried doing them, like my shoulder was about to pop.
Loving your videos. What do you think of the Ab Wheel or similar type exercises? Are they good to do or one of the damaging fads? Would love to know your thoughts. Many thanks.
I like doing dips but what do you suggest is the best tricep exercise (not gym machines)....tricep extension using a dumbbell?
Wow after doing this for so long..😢
Sometimes my wrists would hurt when doing dips.
Jeff Cavalier wannabe
Just much less ripped :-(
So unnecessarily rude. I don't know who Jeff is, but PJ has a nice physique and gives great, FREE, tips.
Coach PJ Nestler Great response. Let the haters be. We love your videos.
