  • G'day welcome to part 16
We finish off the assembly of the 351 and we mainly concentrate on the valve train as this is a pretty unusual set-up.
I'm using Bella Terra Roller rocker which are the NON adjustable type and a Roller cam conversion which took a lot of finessing to sort out with different sized push-rods and finally machining the rocker posts themselves
As usual I hope that it's of some benefit or interest
    Cheers Blue

    Hello and nice engine!
Rubber gaskets can be quite good without sealant except will need a little on the joining corners.
Looks like the silicon has acted as a lubricant and caused the gasket to get compressed and slip out of shape.
If you want to use silicon sealant on rubber gaskets, you can but put it on sparingly, tighten the sump finger tight with the socket and extension and tighten it to manufactures specs after its dried for a couple of hours.
If I wanted to put a sealant on rubber gaskets, I may be tempted to try aviation permatex.
I would use rubber gaskets dry and use the ultra black permatex silicon on just the corners.
The cork gaskets I put on dry too but contact adhesive has been known to be good for cork.

      Cheers mate 👍
Turns out that old felpro is somewhat of a hybrid material and the sump being aftermarket probably doesn't have the rigidity on the oem and bends a bit
Thanks for your input 👍 much appreciated
