F100 Gets Some New Tires!

  • For the last three years my truck has had the eact same set of tires on it. I've been it did pretty well but I was unhappy with how much body roll was created due to the taller tire. So my next set I decided to change from a 235/75R/15 to a 255/60R15. This tire has a shorter sidewall and because of that its a stiffer tire, the tire also has a much wider foot print so my handling went up a good amount. Let me know what you think down below!

    I love the steel rims and white letter tires! I'd be satisfied with that look on just about any classic vehicle. I love the Steelies, most especially the type that accepts the dog dish hub caps. Nice truck man.

    I cut one coil up front and did a half hanger flip and removed the overload spring in the rear. It gave me a 2” drop up front and the back is is just a tad higher. I corrected the pinion angle with 4 degree shims. Rides great, looks great, and it was basically free.

    • @Thecraig909
      @Thecraig909  6 років тому

      Can you explain the 4 degree shims? The pinion angle is what I need to correct and i've never heard of using a shim before.

    3" drop on the front and a 4" on the rear. You can do the rear with a shackle and hanger kit. It is a lot easier to do the rear. The front is the more costly as you need a drop beam. I have the rear shackle and hangers. But I won't be putting them on until I get the drop beams.

    Bell tech drop spindles will keep your alignment and not fuck with the I beams, and lowers 3-5 inches. Axle flip and those and you’ll be sitting pretty!

    on my 67 Ford f-100 i used DJM Dream Beams and their lowering kit on the back. for tires i have 235/75r15,s on the front on the back i am running BFG Silvertown 285/70r15,s. my rims on all four are 15x7 Cragar SS. the rear tires do not rub anywhere. i did not do a c-notch on the rear. there is about 2 inches from the bottom of the bump stop to the top of the axle.

    Dog tracking if your tires r wearing like that in the rear that could mean your frame is slightly bent Craig I've seen many cases like this seriously have that checked

    DJM dream beams. Cut a half a coil or a full one out of you want it even lower. You might have to c notch the rear depending on how low you go there.
