My dearly departed and much missed mum would have been 95 today , she was stationed at Biggin Hill in 1944/5 as a WRAF nurse.
Wonderful to see the old Blenheim , when are we going to have our own peoples Mosquito flying in UK air shows , probably the best and most versatile aircraft of WW2
UNBELIEVABLE! The last time I saw this 'Lancaster' was back in '73 at the airshow at R.A.F.Bentwaters when I was stationed there.
You've got to admit the Spitfire is the most beautiful airplane of WWII. It's just perfectly proportioned, and the sound of the Merlin is amazing.
Yep Albert, far and away!
What plane and what a nation!!
From America, I agree..the Spitfire was magnificent.
Thanks for this. I now live in NZ but as a nipper I used to live locally and used to visit the airshows most years. I was there last year but, although local, couldn't attend but got a buzz from the Red Arrows flying over where we were staying. Thanks for sharing, loved it and good camera work, very much appreciated.
Your Red Arrows coverage was better than the last one I watched on the BBC!
Gary you must have been and still very proud of your mother, regards and sympathies...Tony in Cork. Was at Biggin Hill a few years ago for show, but only recently appreciating its historic importance !!!
Great show - great photography - Thanks a Lot.
gotta love the sea fury!
ALL DAY LONG
Really good filming actually mate.
Sea Fury Forever!
Me to
I was there on that day and i think i was standing a few people in front of you it was a good day
Good to hear such a lively and enthusiastic crowd. Proper pageant.
Thanks for uploading, haven't been to Biggin for years so this is brillaint to see!
But at 5:20 is that a near miss or just camera angle?
I was there it was close but the camera angle made it look even closer
I always get concerned when I see explosions at Biggin Hill. Was there in 2001 when a plane exploded on impact killing the crew.
Awww bless tragically there was 2 separate ones over the 2 days that weekend. One of the few weekends I didn't go, and am glad for that
I was there
This is how it should be !!! Not like farnborough air show this year rubbish 🤬sorry had to say it !!! Great video 👍
Aha I was literally standing near you 😂
Is 12:54 a spitfire variant or another plane made buy Supermarine
Kieren It is a shitfire with a second cockpit added for a passenger !!!! DUUUUHH!!!!!!!
Wilbur Finnigan got time wrong you nob jockey
Kieren 12:54 is a HAWKER Seafury , one of the few still flying with the original engine...5 bladed prop !!!!! DUUUUHH!!!!!
Wilbur Finnigan thank you 😂
Actually Kieran it was The Hawker Sea Fury , a British Naval fighter aircraft designed and manufactured by Hawker. It was the last propeller-driven fighter to serve with the Royal Navy, and one of the fastest production single-seat reciprocating engine aircraft ever built. ( Top Speed 460 mph.) Developed from the Hawker Tempest during the Second World War, the Sea Fury entered service two years after the war ended. The Sea Fury proved to be a popular aircraft with a number of overseas militaries, and was used during the Korean War in the early 1950s, as well as against the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba.
The109 has been chased down by three Messerschmidts..Errr Spitfires..
And if i could travel the 16,984 km to be there i would
I don't understand why the punters within mic range are cheering/clapping/shouting "oh yummy". Are they foreigners or something ? FFS have you never seen a Pitts Special/Red Arrows display before ? Watch this video on mute- you won't regret it.
Wg Cdr Luddite Yes when I hear people having a good time it really pisses me off!!
Miserable B@stard. For example, the Red Arrows are one of the few things that made me proud to be British (ex). To hear the crowd reaction to their display was the icing on the cake. I will show it to my fellow Americans!
I've noticed that ex-pats show levels of jingoism close to yanks. Thanks for the confirmation. You appear to have utterly given up on showing even a modicum of self-restraint. I'm sure your shouts of "yee-ha ! " will be appreciated by your new neighbours.
So if the Red Arrows are "one of the few things" that make you proud to feel (ex) British, would you care to elucidate on the things about the UK that you are ashamed of ?
I agree mate, why the hell are people talking when Aircraft are all about???????
Got to be the best airshow video ever !! The camera work is outstanding . Particularly like the B 17 Flying Fortress and the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane . Sad to say there is one old ignorant butt hurt jealous American on these comment who refers to the Spitfire as a Shitfire . Can we ban his banal comments please.
Not even close !!!!! DUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Here's something thats close to the truth WilbursoararseTRAITORCOWARD Finnigan . YOU never served in the armed forces ; your father never defended his country ; YOU are the most senile, hateful worthless piece of CRAP ever to walk this fair earth . You are a butt hurt, jealous sick old man who carries a chip on both shoulders as a penance for coming from such a cowardly family.
Bet you wish you had a chairman's pass.
GOOD TO HEAR A LIVELY CROWD???.... Im here for the sounds of the Aircraft, not the Fooking Crowd
