Back pain, neck pain, RSI, you name it I had it at some point because I had extremely bad habits when working and programming for long periods of time. After finally deciding to do something about it and focus on making the right adjustments my situation got a lot better. Hopefully today I can pass on some simple ideas I applied to my own setup and ergonomics to make things better for myself. Try them out if you think they could help you too!
This is obviously not medical advice, if you have serious issues please please please go see a physio or another health professional, they'll be able to help you make sure you don't carry any physical issues later into your career and it will pay you back many times over! You body does matter even if programming is mostly about your brains!

Be carefull about having forearms on the table and especially at the edge of the table. By forearm i mean that 5 cm below elbow. There is ulnar nerve and you can end up with nerve damage. also, dont user elbow support on the char much, specially if they cannot be close to your body, what happens is that you angle your elbow since the supports are wider then you so you can reach them. And you put pressure on inner side of the elbow. There is this funny bow, which is basically unprotected ulnar nerve path. Dont put pressure on this too.

How just in time. I was thinking of buying a deck chair + VESA + Bluetooth keyboard + trackball(LOL). That's because I found out that when I'm lying I come up with ideas faster compaired to when I sit. Let me know what you think about that.

You mean like a lounging chair? I haven't thought of that, but hey if it works for you why not! I personally come up with ideas better when I'm standing, so to each their own, it's awesome you figured out something that works for you!

Very nice overview but more ergonomic keyboard would be Logitech G915 (compact). The only advantage of using magic keyboard is that it's short.

And oh boy is that true when talking about back pain! 😅 Glad you enjoyed!

I see we have the same chair, an IKEA MARKUS. I hate this chair :( The arm rests being fixed mean they don't clear under the desk when the chair is at the right height which I suspect you found also as you have them removed?
I really need to find a better chair to replace this but I don't have €1500 for a Herman Miller or Steel Case. Sigh.

Yep same reason why I took off the arm rests! For the price I think it's... okay. I enjoy the high back a lot though which is one of the reasons I've stuck with this one!

@@TheGreenDeveloper If only it had adjustable arm rests it wouldn't be a bad chair for the price. Wish I could find some third party arm rests for it but nothing so far which is a shame.

@@satysin630 That would be pretty cool if a third party option existed! My desk is pretty deep so I can get away without arm rests at all but I can see how it's not possible on every setup!
