I love that Riche is too much of a dim-witted, low-functioning sociopath to comprehend the danger he's in when Janice walks in with that SIG-Sauer. He has so little empathy for how other people feel that he really doesn't get _why_ Janice would be upset about him hitting her. Even when he's dying he looks bewildered at what's happening to him.
It's what really makes his death all the more satisfying in the show
It wasn't the hit that sifned his death sentence. It was the fact he rubbed it in her face. If you look at the clip when she's in shock and looks at him He watches her and mockingly taunts her then her whoel demeanour changed.
He thought he was invincible, going against Tony and Junior, severely injuring Beansie, and just not caring what anyone thought just because he was a mob associate

I love that Furio says "mannaggia la marina" (this can be translated as "damned be the navy") and is a popular curse phrase in Napoli - my dad was from Napoli and he would use it. It originated in 1860, when Giuseppe Garibaldi's naval forces invaded Sicily and Napoli in an effort to unify Italy.
It's an euphemism for "mannaggia la Madonna" that is a blasphemy against the Virgin Mary. Dunno who told you the story about Garibaldi but Garibaldi invaded Naples from the inland and not from the sea. Garibaldi never had proper naval forces.

One of the most unintentionally funny parts about this scene is actually an error, where you can see a third hand at 1:03 that pushes Richie's chair over for dramatic effect. I can't believe they never edited that!
Oh yeah you totally can lol, nice catch
The hand is actually holding the chair so he doesn't fall over in that particular shot because falling like that would be very dangerous for an actor. They then cut to a reverse shot where he is still suspended and then cut back to the actual staged 'falling' shot which is much safer.

@@Christine-iw9do I’m only four seasons in, but so far Ralph killing Tracee & Richie running over Beansie are far and away the most heinous crimes that have been committed on this show. I don’t really want to get into the weeds on which crime is worse but I feel like they’re roughly equal. On one hand, Ralphie literally beat a pregnant girl who is basically a child to death, but at least she didn’t have to suffer any more after that.

I like how Richie had a few moments to think about his life choices before Janice finished him. Also how Carmella just instinctively knew someone was dead and didn't ask Tony a bunch of questions.
Carmela was somewhat expecting it to be about, Irina. She tried killing herself over Tony at this time. She even called Livia's house during just to make sure Tony was actually there.
I agree with Jerrod. Carmella had that look of disgust on her face after Tony told her "it's Janice...I gotta go." I took it as her thinking he was lying to her again and he was going to go see one of his "hoowas" LOL
CARMELA was thinking Tony went to see his galfriend, that's why she called and hung up during this scene

"When I was in Satriale's, I wanted a veal parmesan. I compromised, and ate Richie Aprile instead."
I believe this murder was entirely premeditated on Janice's part. After realising that Richie didn't have the power and influence to kill Tony and become boss, she lost interest in him and needed a way out of a now boring relationship. So, she gave Olivia "two nembutal," ostensibly so that Richie and her could have sex - but actually so that Olivia would sleep through what was going to happen. She then baited Richie repeatedly into hitting her, which in turn gave her the justification she needed to shoot him before calling Tony. She was as calculating and sociopathic as any of the other mobsters.

The best part of this scene is Furio coming upon the body of Richie and the only thing he expresses grief over is the fact that he has to have Richie’s Cadillac destroyed.
Furio may be a sociopath, but he is a sociopath with good taste!

One of the most satisfying moments in the series. I hated Richie and I remember cheering Janice on when she had the gun. Lol awesome scene
Just way too bad she didn't turn the gun on herself 😐
I hated him too, and was so glad to see him go!!!
I was seriously not expecting Richie to die in this scene & I busted out laughing when she shot him. The fact that the only person other than Janice who deny even slightly bad was Furio mourning the Cadillac made it all the funnier
This was like, the opposite of Ralph killing tracee. It was entirely deserved and made me feel as good as tracee’s death made me feel bad
That was some real gangster shit. Even being away from the influence of her family and mob activity for most of her life, she just blew Richie away and even double tapped him without losing her cool. Both her and Livia would’ve been the real gangsters if it weren’t for traditional gender roles, like what Tony had said to Livia in Season 1.

Absolutely because she was just like her mother.
There would have been even more dead Italians in NY/NJ if Livia or Janice was Boss…Johnny Boy and Tony were much more empathetic than the ladies were

One of the few moments I actually felt sorry for Janice. She seemed honestly very hurt
I know we're not supposed to victim blame but she married a psychopath who was at odds with her brother, and was jibber jabbering at him about his son being gay. Seems logical to me that this happened to her. I think Tony not only took pleasure out of Richie being dead but also out of Janice experiencing some consequences for once
