I try to never miss a video by these folks. You end up learning so much that even if you're not in the market right now for a new tv it helps you keep up with what's going on and what is actually true and what is smoke. I love this channel
Ahh so yall ARE still alive. Good to know! Where's my CES/2025 preview video so I know if I should drop a huge chunk of change on a high end TV because the new ones aren't going to change much or if I should wait for big improvements this year?
Almost bought the 65" from Best Buy for $340, but I saw the Hisense U6HR (which is based on the 2022 U6H but is apparently a 2024 model exclusive to Walmart) at $380 for the same size, I hopped on that instead. I prefer Google or Fire OS over Roku due to being able to tweak them since they're glorified Android, but the U6HR having local dimming is what made me go for that instead.
Not LED but LCD... LED is just the backlight while LCD (VA, IPS etc) is the display. And this was unusual bad viewing angle even for VA LCD.. My old VA LCD has waaaaaaaay wider viewing angles and is perfectly viewable from pretty far out on the sides.
Cheaper VA panels have inferior viewing angles. You have to go up the range to get something better, but they still have that VA gamma shift. It's due to the number of pixel domains and if sub pixel dithering is used to try and improve it. The Japanese (Sony, Panasonic) usually have the best viewing angles every time, no matter where in the lineup you buy (because they use higher spec panels).
@interstat2222 VA have more than good enough viewing angles for most use. And I take a slightly narrower viewing angle on VA over the bad contrast on a IPS any day👌 VA's don't habe the best either but native it's still usually 4-5 times higher unless it's a really bad panel.
We've seen stuff from Samsung, LG and others so far this year... but I'm just waiting to see if a true successor to the A95L will be unleashed this year.
It's the worst Chinese brand. Automatic switch off in 30 sec issue. No repair provided. Zero support. Honest review after using. Use and throw product. Never buy TCL. Very dissatisfied
I can't belive how dirt cheap is this TV. Cheapest 55" TCL Fire TV in Europe (model PF650) is 379 euros or $400. It is obvious that TCL and Hisense have dumping prices with extremly low profit-per unit for US market.

Might want to give HDTVtest a try. They make these guys look like Best Buy employees.
Great job guys. Thanks for the video - your insights are interesting, entertaining and technically precise as always. Keep up the great work!
RTINGS when it is Hisense: "Best TV ever."
RTINGS when it is TCL: "It's good...BUT........"
I would go with the Hisense 👍
I gave the 65"U8N a try and a month later I ended up getting the 85" too haha

The actual Hisense rival to this tv would be the QD5, which is cheaper than the U6N.
Is this tv direct lit or edge lit?
Direct.
@interstat2222 thank you!
Hey Abby, my friend. 😊
Have you reviewed the Q681G?

Nitpicking. I get it.

For real?.....
1440p at 120Hz?
I don't use HDR anyway
.....for real........?

It's cheap because they use it to market to you and monitor you. Your data is part of what you're paying with.
