      @rodster811 most definitely, it's not as if the right has never been outraged at something. I can specifically recall moment of both justified outrage and completely fictitious outrage by the right. While I am definitely on the left part of the spectrum, I don't do idolatry. I think this outrage is justified, as the left strongly believes on the liberation women from their gender roles, now I understand you may disagree with that statement or even that interpretation if you must, however, even if you see it as flawed or idealist or even unreasonable, the fact of the matter that the left holds this as one of their core beliefs does not change. Therefore, seeing as this goes strictly against the left's doctrines it justifies their outrage.
      I would expect the same from the right in matters of abortion, immigration, and other such policies.
      I simply attempt to see it as how it is, regardless of the subject at hand, outrage is to be expected from believers of an ideology when a blatantly opposing point to an ideology is made.

      His words may not be wrong, but just not the right day to say it. You don't have the right to insult women's years of education.

There’s also nothing in the Bible that says a woman shouldn’t have a career or has to stay home. This is also very inappropriate to say at a COLLEGE graduation where women went to get a job. Don’t forget to tell your daughter on her graduation day she belongs at home and needs to be a wife. Good luck!

    Please don’t worry about his speech, ladies. I would venture to guess all the women graduates are being polite, but they know the score. Putting yourself and your children in a man’s hand is a scary business. There are some really good men, but you never know until it’s too late and you and your children need out of an abusive or destructive marriage. Women are just too smart these days to listen to the “ homemaker and mother is her highest calling” bullshit.

      Totally disagree with you when I married my wife we lived off my income. She still stayed home with the children. It was the greatest blessing ever you can do it. Everyone of my children have turned out Great they’re certainly not Perfect they’ll have great jobs. We have grandchildren now it’s wonderful. Wouldn’t trade up for anything and neither would my wife.

      @@shawnjensen3896: I’m so glad it turned out well for you and your family! My dad worked as well, my mom stayed at home. But she was always prepared to go to work if my dad died or strayed. She said: protect yourself! You are your own knight in shining armor!
      Came in handy when my husband of 14 years dumped me and my daughter. My daughter, now 41, chooses single hood and no children. She has a great job, a paid-off house and land and is very contented. I am blessed.

    Harrison is right!! The stats prove it too! Women find HUGE fulfillment in raising their family. He’s not saying all women must stay at home. Many women in my world desire to be home but can’t afford it. He then praised his wife who does stay at home. There is nothing wrong with that.

      Or, you didn’t listen to what he said. He didn’t say “don’t pursue careers”. He said that the majority of these women graduating are likely most excited about fulfilling the role/vocation as a wife and mother. His mother did both. And I would imagine that his mother would consider her greatest accomplishment in life to be associated with her family and not her career. As a father, I’m far more proud of my family than any job…anyone who says otherwise did a terrible job leading their family

    The first job as a speaker is known as your audience. I think his comments were quite appropriate for the audience he was speaking to. His comments are only controversial because he is conservative. What he said wasn’t wrong. I myself include being a father and raising an incredible son to be my most important job I ever did. I think most parents feel that way

    Hopefully his views on LGBTQ pride evolves to a more positive light. If not, i'm not sure any kid of his who turns out to be of the LGBTQ community will find acceptance at home. For him to be so young, it's sad that he has the view point that many of the women there graduating want to be at home with babies.     If both parents are spending their whole days at work. Who is going to raise their children? And let's be realistic most people can't afford babysitters or daycare centers. But let's just face it. If you are not spending all day raising your children then someone else is raising your children for you and that makes you irresponsible as a parent.
