One of the scariest things about the Knight is that he fucking wins. Like, legitimately, everything he sets out to do in his lore, he does to completion by the end of it. He wanted to free himself from the Guardia Compagnia, so he did. He wanted to free his comrades, and now they are in the entity’s realm. He wanted to enter the entity’s realm, and obviously he accomplished that. And now, if he wants to get revenge on Vittorio, he has eternity to do that.
For real though. All the other killers were either tricked like the twins or are being manipulated like deathslinger. Even the ones that wanted to enter the entity's realm are at best neutral like myers or lose a lot of their autonomy like ghostface.
Too bad he's so weak Vittorio can loop him for 5 gens in the entitys realm. He really got screwed with the power the big ol spider god gave him. Threatening in his lore but a laughably pathetic joke in game

a Hungarian character in DbD I thought it would never happen but it did. And his lore is amazing too. BHVR really outdone themselves with him in my eyes
I really like that detail that despite all of the scary things he presents himself as he's still just a man honestly a Hungarian slave at that who rose up to the highest ranks that a slave should get as a knight and earned his own freedom and companions too

Honestly, I think Tarhos' relationship with Vittorio has a lot of potential and I'd love to see it explored. The Knight's connection with his guards is good but its simple. It motivates Tarhos, his loyalty to his companions is how he defines his brand of 'honor'. It makes sense. What doesn't really make sense is his contempt for Vittorio. His obsession with taking the stone, stealing Vittorio's land. The entity is just a strange childhood memory at this point after all. And yet Tarhos just goes off. The utter rage at Vittorio's escape is heavily implied. Vittorio did literally nothing to Tarhos and yet the hate seems so personal. I think some of Tarhos actions had less to do with his interest in the occult and more to do with his immediate relationship with Vittorio. Vittorio and Tarhos both hated the false veneer of 'goodness' and 'honor' that their society held. Their defiance of it is something they had in common. But Vittorio became a pacifist. He made reality what Tarhos had always considered a lie. I think Tarhos would hate Vittorio on an uncharacteristically personal level because Vittorio challenges Tarhos' beliefs about human nature. I mean, this is all conjecture. I don't even play dbd, I just ended up reading the knight lore by chance and thought it was really cool. Good video, hope to see one for Vittorio.

A fun little tidbit to drive home the point of medieval Europe's problems with Mercenaries, which I think enhances The Knight's Lore: Niccolo Machiavelli, arguably the father of modern political philosophy, went on tangents in multiple chapters of his book "The Prince" about how terrible mercenaries are. He hated them with a passion. I recommend the book, it's a damn good read, and not just for historical purposes. Edit: "The Prince" also perfectly elaborates on the false pretenses and veneer of goodness that princes often rely on, which I think further accentuates the latter parts of the Knight's story.
I would too. The Prince is very specific on the value of land, how to control it, what the people should be and how a ruler leads them. A faction with no allegiances to a nation or people is an abject evil to any leader.
It’s also the usage of mercenaries that are important. Since they’re most likely to retreat before everyone to conserve their forces. Not to mention their chain of command can decide to disobey orders. This limit their use as attack dogs you set free on the enemy and not care for the casualties. However these are flaws that can also be remedied, and we see this with the Swiss mercenaries. As they were loyal enough the church prefer them as permanent guards even when their positions were already filled in by German mercenaries after the sack of Rome .
What I love about this character lore-wise, is that, as you said it, it belongs in the “historically domain” category, and along with the Oni and the Deathslinger, puts a spin on the character it represents to make it a darker greedier and all around monster

His Rift cosmetic and his base cosmetic almost seem to imply a lack of a need for natural sight, maybe his brush with death when his mother poisoned him left him with a bond to the entity from that young age? I believe one of the tome entries even mentions him being guided by something else in combat. Or it could all be nothing at all.
Hrm; fascinating. It's kind of paradoxical for mercenaries who, as you've stated just prior to talking about 'Chivalry,' would resort to looting and pillaging when the person paying for their services reneged on the deal, who owed fealty to no one lord in particular. And just because somebody _has_ codes of honor or duty, doesn't mean they'll live up to them, especially if they set the standards too high. This will result in them either becoming controlling perfectionists who view anybody who isn't as honorable or powerful as them as inferiors to be slaughtered for the sin of disrespecting their superiors (as in the case of Kazan Yamaoka, who tried to follow what he felt was the true path of his father, Renjiro's, code, but couldn't separate his rage, his pride, and his cruelty from it, leading to his downward spiral as he took up his dark pilgrimage of purifying Japan of pretender samurai, merchants who were replacing the samurai as the top of the caste, and the foreign traders and diplomats they did business with) or they will completely abandon all pretenses of having a code, save where they could use it as a flimsy justification for how they behaved (I don't believe there is a Killer in the game like this, at least not one I can come up with off the top of my head; though reading about Tarhos' cynical worldviews about how people use chivalry as an excuse for their greed and selfishness, he likely knew several).
I'm always a sucker for minion summoning abilities in video games (Yorick from League of Legends and Conjurer from Divinity 2). I just like the thought of my minions doing my bidding and helping me do tasks. I mean sure we have Nemesis zombies but they can't really be ordered to do anything and they just roams around. The Twins kinda does that but you have to control them individually, you're controlling both characters not ordering one character to do stuff for you. The Knight I feel like the closest I'll get to minion summoning ability in Dead by Daylight. While I do wish you can summon all your guards both at once, I can understand for balancing reasons. Regardless, I'm very excited for this killer, don't care if he's high or low tier, fun or annoying to play against, I'm going to main him lol

Haven't watched the video yet but I will later. What I didn't get too well is why The Knight turned so hard and suddenly against Vittorio. I get that he kills the people because direct violence is the only thing he's ever known, but after, he straight up starts hunting Vittorio before even checking how he reacts. Another bit I kinda missed and maybe it's explained, is why he starts being obsessed with Vittorio's knowledge when all he went there to do is get paid to free the boys... and attacking the guy that pays him isn't too effective to be richer. But he did seem convinced enough to actually do jobs and get paid to just snap and turn so suddenly when nothing really pushed him at the time.

I love the Knight! His power really feels original and distinct, unlike Double Dipping Demodog. I think his power needs a bit more time in the oven before he's ready to join the rest of the killers, but I'm happy the devs seem to be trying new things. Also, I call the Knight's three friends Rock, Paper, and Scissors. The names really seem to work for some reason XD Though I don't know a lot about his crew... I do know Alejandro is fun at parties XDDD It's interesting how you said the Entity contacted him after the death of his village. I read it as he sees beauty in death and destruction. In either case, he's spooky.
Ive always wanted two original killers in dbd, an oni due to my fascination with Japanese mythology and a knight because i love the medieval times, Kazan and tharhos are the opposite ones code of honor is based on their own rules, the other is the classic code being their family. I will say that sometimes the dbd lore department slaps with their stories sometimes. Bhvr has always been creative so i cant wait to see what they do next for an og killer, perhaps a plague docter killer would be nice
Tbh I'm really eager to see what they do with The Knight cosmetics wise. There's a lot they can do with him stylistically. I wonder if we'll ever see him unmasked, maybe in the Tome? Maybe one where he's unmasked but he's just a skeleton skull underneath? Skeleton knight would be a pretty sick vibe. Vittorio is already a hot zaddy, I don't need to wonder for even a second "if" they plan to make some cool cosmetics for him. It's just a question of "how many".
This is honestly my favorite killer (I actually came up with my own version aboit 2 years before the knight actually came out!) Originally the Blight was my favorite(Oni was a close second) and he is still up there on my list, but the Knight has taken the top spot for me!

Started playing DbD the other day, instantly wanted to give knight a go so I bought him, I find him very fun and engaging, even i I do spend a lot of time scouting with my bois while kicking generators
I think the most interesting thing about the lore is the contrast between Vittorio and Tarhos, demonstrating the difference between the extremely fortunate and the extremely unfortunate in the Middle Ages. Even though it's fiction, stories like this add somewhat of a personal angle to the time period, and it makes me actually interested in it, while at school I was taught that people in the Middle Ages were nameless peasants who constantly got fucked over by the people who were supposed to be in charge of them
As a For Honor player, hearing the words "For Honor inspired chapter" made me so happy, then we got someone completely devoid from the For Honor universe and that sucked.
I thought they will use a For Honor license to add a knight as a killer like Apollyon, Lawbringer, or conqueror but we got a non license knight killer who summons his friends.
Really love both the knights lore and his cooperative, macro style play. Got a new main! Praise the best bud the Carnifex! Very much looking forward to his tome.
What if this guy is kind of a test case for incorporating more complex AI into killer powers? Might just be optimistic, but perhaps this is a prelude to major reworks of several other killers. Like say, Nemesis and Twins... Would say Legion too but they already got their rework relatively recently.
So we have a samurai (Oni) and a knight. I'd love to see a ninja killer (or a corrupt martial arts master) in the future, but have no idea how BHVR would design their powers to differentiate them from the other similar killers on the roster.
Martial arts I could see with a stance switching mechanic with different strengths and weaknesses, possibly even a counter mechanic involving pallet stuns or something. Might involve survivors pre-dropping in that case, but maybe another stance could excel at pallet breaking or get a buff from doing so.
i always figured he was just a counter in the crossover event in for honor how ..we in for honor got ..to deal with trapper ..and doing gens along with 4 other heros... i figured you guys got a for honor style killer

I'm always a sucker for minion summoning abilities in video games (Yorick from League of Legends and Conjurer from Divinity 2). I just like the thought of my minions doing my bidding and helping me do tasks.
I mean sure we have Nemesis zombies but they can't really be ordered to do anything and they just roams around. The Twins kinda does that but you have to control them individually, you're controlling both characters not ordering one character to do stuff for you. The Knight I feel like the closest I'll get to minion summoning ability in Dead by Daylight. While I do wish you can summon all your guards both at once, I can understand for balancing reasons. Regardless, I'm very excited for this killer, don't care if he's high or low tier, fun or annoying to play against, I'm going to main him lol

What I didn't get too well is why The Knight turned so hard and suddenly against Vittorio. I get that he kills the people because direct violence is the only thing he's ever known, but after, he straight up starts hunting Vittorio before even checking how he reacts.
Another bit I kinda missed and maybe it's explained, is why he starts being obsessed with Vittorio's knowledge when all he went there to do is get paid to free the boys... and attacking the guy that pays him isn't too effective to be richer. But he did seem convinced enough to actually do jobs and get paid to just snap and turn so suddenly when nothing really pushed him at the time.

I love the Knight! His power really feels original and distinct, unlike Double Dipping Demodog. I think his power needs a bit more time in the oven before he's ready to join the rest of the killers, but I'm happy the devs seem to be trying new things.

Ive always wanted two original killers in dbd, an oni due to my fascination with Japanese mythology and a knight because i love the medieval times, Kazan and tharhos are the opposite ones code of honor is based on their own rules, the other is the classic code being their family. I will say that sometimes the dbd lore department slaps with their stories sometimes. Bhvr has always been creative so i cant wait to see what they do next for an og killer, perhaps a plague docter killer would be nice

Tbh I'm really eager to see what they do with The Knight cosmetics wise. There's a lot they can do with him stylistically. I wonder if we'll ever see him unmasked, maybe in the Tome? Maybe one where he's unmasked but he's just a skeleton skull underneath? Skeleton knight would be a pretty sick vibe.
Vittorio is already a hot zaddy, I don't need to wonder for even a second "if" they plan to make some cool cosmetics for him. It's just a question of "how many".

I think the most interesting thing about the lore is the contrast between Vittorio and Tarhos, demonstrating the difference between the extremely fortunate and the extremely unfortunate in the Middle Ages. Even though it's fiction, stories like this add somewhat of a personal angle to the time period, and it makes me actually interested in it, while at school I was taught that people in the Middle Ages were nameless peasants who constantly got fucked over by the people who were supposed to be in charge of them
As a For Honor player, hearing the words "For Honor inspired chapter" made me so happy, then we got someone completely devoid from the For Honor universe and that sucked.
The knights lore remind me of that sonic oc who was litterally just a grey knight from 40k. oh and probably just scooby doo haunted knight armor

So we have a samurai (Oni) and a knight. I'd love to see a ninja killer (or a corrupt martial arts master) in the future, but have no idea how BHVR would design their powers to differentiate them from the other similar killers on the roster.
Martial arts I could see with a stance switching mechanic with different strengths and weaknesses, possibly even a counter mechanic involving pallet stuns or something. Might involve survivors pre-dropping in that case, but maybe another stance could excel at pallet breaking or get a buff from doing so.
i always figured he was just a counter in the crossover event in for honor how ..we in for honor got ..to deal with trapper ..and doing gens along with 4 other heros... i figured you guys got a for honor style killer
