Mine would be the first one, for many reasons.... mostly the scone (as in stone) looks like a scone and not a rock cake! Shame on Selfridges for trying to pass off a 'rock bun' as a scone! 😉🥰❤🇬🇧
I'm shocked! 😮😮😮 I honestly thought you were going to say the Selfridges Tea was £40 not 14! I can't believe it! They were both amazing looking. Patisserie Valerie had French accompaniments with the butter, cream and jam, whereas Selfridges had English with Tiptree Jam from Essex. Both delicious! Omg, both absolute BARGAINS! Obviously Selfridges overall was more artisan in the sandwiches and cakes, yet bizarrely £5 cheaper. I would be delighted to have either. Both venues looked charming too. You certainly know how to live! 😊
I was a bit shocked by the Selfridges price too. I though it would be the more expensive one! They were both great to be honest so I would happily have both
They were both very dainty and quaint and yes butter on the scone lol. I do like the way you do the talk-over after the video has been filmed. Not talking whilst eating makes the video easier to watch and you are able to describe the items more fully I think. Thanks for this vlog. Can't decide so I would have to try both the afternoon teas ! x
Bon appetit! Don’t know where you put it all. By the way, that garnish is pea shoots, not cress. You’ve mixed them up before. The pea shoots have those curly tendrils. Love your content, always makes me smile!
T post South Milford for breakfast, afternoon tea, and a very big selection of cakes and Cromwells pontefract fantastic afternoon tea and selfridges for afternoon tea
That isn't a biscuit! It's a crispbread, isn't it? Oh my goodness that whole meal looked delicious! Selfridges, that looks like pea shoot rather than cress, and that ham one was on a brioche roll. I am salivating! I think I need to move from Devon to Leeds! You lucky man. 🙂 👍
amazing, but selfridges for me... as for cream or jam first on a scone, i believe there's competition between devon and cornwall - where one does it one way, and the other place does it the other way..!
It's funny as I too had scones today. They were very small, very nice, but just about filling a hole from a pub in Central London. But my order of spread was butter, jam then cream. Looking at these two cream teas, I must say that I'm impressed with them both. For me, though, it has to be Selfridges. Only because I like the variety and the different take on the sandwich.
its gotta be Selfridges for me. Apart from being cheaper, the sandwiches looked excellent. The cake selection was different. Draw for the scones, although if u were hungry then PV had more. I can't believe I wasn't aware that Selfridges did Afternoon tea, and it was so cheap. Thanks for the upload.
Both look really nice. I'd probably go for the Patisserie Valerie one. My only criticism would be that as a Devonian I'd say that putting the cream on first is the only right way to eat a scone 😉😂😂 Love your channel! 😊
I can't decide between the two, going on price, I think it would be Selfridges. I liked the cakes better in the first one. I thought Selfridges would have had a nicer teapot and milk jug and for the size of the scone you should have had another pot of jam and some butter. All the scones looked lovely
i have been to PV a few times.... but not happy cos u do not get the cakes on display... u get somthing else which I actually saw them take out of a box like those sold in tesco!!
You should state clearly the price of each tea, next time. We were confused and its effected our selection. The Selfridges tower looked very professional, nicely composed with savory and sweets. Also sweets looked more complexedand made by a professional. As to the patisserie savories were nice, but sweets looked somewhat disappointing (I guess its ok for UK) as if made in a country bakery. Also, you did not state if they offered you a choice of tea and which one did you select.
At the start of this video when you entered Patisserie Valerie there was a young man behind the counter. In a food serving / preparation area with the way his hair was he should have been wearing a hair net ,, that would put me off for a start ,,,
I haven't trusted patisserie Valerie since after they closed all there Birmingham and midland Restaurants without notice and treated there staff at the time like garbage and left them with no surport and customers with order's out of pocket
Which Afternoon tea do you prefer?
Comment below 😀
The mysterious ingredients with the last sandwich in the first place.... could it be stuffing with chicken ?
It didn't taste like stuffing. I'm pretty sure it was pesto
Mine would be the first one, for many reasons.... mostly the scone (as in stone) looks like a scone and not a rock cake! Shame on Selfridges for trying to pass off a 'rock bun' as a scone! 😉🥰❤🇬🇧
Think Pat. Valerie would be my choice x
Love both but Selfridges wins.

Its hard to decide between them, so if you can have both I would have both lol
@@everydayimeating3407 You did have both!!!! lol
If I was absolutely starving I’d choose the Patisserie Valerie one. If I wanted to be fancy it would be Selfridges. Another brilliant video!
Selfridges was definitely the more fancy one
Selfridges I plan to visit Britain in December 2024 I will definitely try as I am on a budget. The Canadian dollar is low.
I'm not much of a foodie but I love your vids as they are so laid back. Keep em coming:)
Both look delicious. As always, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome 😀
Thanks for giving me great ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner in your travels.
You are so welcome!
Ours in Wolverhampton closed years ago. The cakes were incredible
They do look delicious in there!

I did think they looked a bit big for cress
When we go to stay in Dorset we buy rodda's cornish clotted cream and have it with strawberry jam on scones, absolutely delicious.
Jam and cream with scones is delicious!

I think there are Patisserie Valeries down south and definitely Selfridges so you can enjoy them too 😀
it is a crostini!
@@everydayimeating3407Patisserie Valerie is a chain with shops across the country.
@@JohnJones-wo1bc lol right! Biscuit 🤭
Is a biscuit called biscotti..(Italian)with almond ,pistachios and dry raisins.
Great video, the food is scrumptious!
Thanks 😀 the food was great at both places 😋
Awesome video and channel - been very much enjoying the videos
Thank you 😀
amazing, but selfridges for me...
as for cream or jam first on a scone, i believe there's competition between devon and cornwall - where one does it one way, and the other place does it the other way..!
preferred the first one because the sandwiches were more to my taste but the both looked good ❤🏴
The first one felt the more traditional whereas the second one was made a bit more fancy
I would definitely go for the Selfridges one. It looked better and was £5 less.
I agree, I can't believe it was cheaper

You're right, it did have a bit more variety with their items
Wow everything on that Selfridges stand was way ahead of the other .
It was presented very well I must agree
Oh my word looked delicious, it's a tough job ! Totally agree the Selfridge's one fancier and a bit cheaper too great video!
It all tasted delicious too 😋 I can't believe its cheaper, I would have thought it would be more expensive
I prefer the Selfridge's for its variety, quality and great price. I think the Patisserie Valerie was nice but too expensive for me.
Selfridges was definitely better value and looked fancier too
You forgot to give the little meringue a mention on the Selfridges one 🧚♀
I did later on and tasted them too. They were good 😋
@@everydayimeating3407 loving your chanel btw 👏🏻💋

Nooooo.... its clotted cream first, then jam! ❤😂😂😂😂😂
Only if the cream is a really thick one lol
For price and looks Selfridges wins hands down.... Everything looked banging mate... Definitely need to try this 🙂🙂
Its definitely worth a try and not a bad price either
With Valarie patisserie do you get to chose what sandwiches if you don't like one ?
I love pistachio..the Selfridges tea looked so interesting.
Its well worth a try if you get the chance
@@everydayimeating3407 It would be Oxford St London...
Both look really nice. I'd probably go for the Patisserie Valerie one. My only criticism would be that as a Devonian I'd say that putting the cream on first is the only right way to eat a scone 😉😂😂 Love your channel! 😊
Thanks 😀 I like either way as long as theres loads of cream and jam lol
Oh wow I think selfridges tops it for me delicious
It was pretty fancy and cheaper too
Great review, mate but a bit too posh and snooty for me, but I can see the attraction to others, my wife, and daughter would love this 👍
14.95 is great value for the Selfridges. I like that one the best.
It is especially for a high end store like them
I can't decide between the two, going on price, I think it would be Selfridges. I liked the cakes better in the first one. I thought Selfridges would have had a nicer teapot and milk jug and for the size of the scone you should have had another pot of jam and some butter. All the scones looked lovely
It was a big scone! I like the savoury items from Selfridges but its a tough choice
They both looked absolutely delicious but the selfridges won it for me.
It was better value for sure
i have been to PV a few times.... but not happy cos u do not get the cakes on display... u get somthing else which I actually saw them take out of a box like those sold in tesco!!
Selfridges is the better one for price and taste I reckon 🌻
It was a good price for a fancy place like that I must admit
Both looked lovely
Equally good so selfridge because it was cheapest
But at first one u got 2 scones
I think draw maybe
It is tough to pick between them but I would be happy with both 😀
I assume it was tea bags for both places, you didn't use a strainer.
It was tea bags for both
The Selfridges one looked best and was amazing value
It was surprisingly good value
Yes, me too. I liked Selfridges just a little bit better.
🍰
✌🏻
Thats a great choice 😀
Selfridges all day!!!
Its available all day in there too 😀
selfridges was way better, great vlog
Thanks 😀 it was my choice too 😀
The jam should always go on first when having clotted cream and scones
Thats controversial lol
@@everydayimeating3407 I think I'll try Val's place out the next time I'm in Leeds for a punk gig got nothing like that near Peterlee.
What does it matter,
It tastes exactly the same 😮

Patisserie Valerie!
Its a good afternoon tea there
While the scones in Valerie's were good, the inventive and generous Selfridges' savouries win the competition.
I agree, the savouries were definitely better in Selfridges

In the airport in Lanzarote.. I could do with either of these mate!
I could eat these any time! 😋 Maybe they do an afternoon tea in the airport?
@@everydayimeating3407 I wish!!
Easily Selfridges. Getting a cucumber sandwich in an afternoon tea is criminal.
Cucumber sandwich is a classic
i thought Patisserie Valerie had wrapped up ? , the one in Manchester has gone
There are some left but not as many as before
I think Valerie's had better sandwiches and cakes but that is just from appearances of course.
Scrumdiddlyumious😊
It was delicious
I thought the Pat Val chain went bust a year-or-so ago. That shop you visited looks very under-stocked - maybe just about to shut down for good?
Its still open
The patisserie valerie won it for me
The scones were great from there
Do you eat both of the reviews in one day 😳
I did not for this video but some times I do depending on the food and locations
Could you please tell me your name? I like to tell my daughter about some of your videos but I can’t keep calling you thingy!
Cunard Cruises always offer tea with the 1000% sarnies and then dancing. For me its Tuna. Iceberg ahead
Patisserie for me as to much salmon on selfridges platter . I must add tho ,cucumber sarnie is a no no .

Selfridges afternoon tea like you had is £50…. You had just the cream tea at £15… very misleading
Neither place looked cozy but the teas looked good...I wouldn't go, not elegant or cozy
Don't like the ambience of Patisserie Valerie...not cozy
