    Another thing to do is make a Whirlpool in the middle of the pool the dirt will go in the middle. You'll use less water and be done faster.

    I'm late to the party but would it not be better to put the pump on waste so that all that junk doesn't go thru the sand and just empties out?

  • @bocfus72

    Not sure if you still have your pool, but I just fixed my issue with keeping the water from flowing when you open the pump to empty the basket. You need to get another shut off valve, some 2" pvc pipe and 2" male and female fittings from Lowe's.
    Cut the pipe approximately 2 3/4" glue the fittings on to the pipe, get some teflon tape and tape the threads on the pump connect your new pipe then connect your shut off valve then your hose to the shut off valve.
    This took me maybe 15 minutes to do and will make life easier when you go to empty your basket in the pump!!

    Connect the vac hose to the vacuum head and set it on the bottom of the pool . Take the rest of the hose and push the rest of the hose into the water . The water level will follow the through the rest of the vac hose

      9:59 that how I do it. After attaching the hose to the head and the ling poke to the head you can submerge that end of the hose which fills it with water then feed the rest into the water to the end which let's all air out. This is quickest easiest to me.

    Faster to put the end of the hose in front of the output port to force water into the hose.

    There is an easier way to empty the leaf trap on filter pump. You have to put valve selector on filter to CLOSED, them close cutoff from inlet, then no water will come out while you clean the leaf trap.

  • @mfredricknew

    those intex valves are available from intex for low $$ either a "T" or not to hook up the vacuum hose and able to turn OFF the flow. so you will have 2 valves there one from the pool that you can turn off and then another that will connect the vacuum line that you can turn on to use and off to clean out the trap... BUT you could always use the "mesh bag" that normally comes with the sweeper kit.....

  • @dominiquesmith5839
    @dominiquesmith5839 2 місяці тому

    What adapter did you use? Does the size of the filter or pool matter in this case? I have a much smaller pool than yours and I was thinking that since my pool filter is meant for a smaller pool it won't have enough power to suck anything up with a larger hose.

  • @dougnextel1
    @dougnextel1 4 роки тому +3

    Or instead of all that, do what I did and just reverse your suction and return. My vacuum hooks up to the single hole in the pool and my return to the pool is the dual holes. Just need to reverse it on the pump and filter.

  • @riviaria
    @riviaria 6 років тому +1

    This is definitely the hard way. Much easier ways and yes the mesh bag intel vac works great and recommended. No cleaning the leaf catch or switching all the hoses or using adapters. The actual easy way. Try it out and make a part 2 😉

    • @rigovargas6033
      @rigovargas6033 6 років тому +1

      replied to another one already but the mesh bag is not a dirt filter, only a particle/leaf filter. To get the fine particles of actual dirt out it has to go through the filter system, just like a traditional pool sweeper is only going to get the leaves and other larger particles, the rest has to be filtered by the main filter system

  • @lanceanderson5826
    @lanceanderson5826 7 років тому +14

    Dude, you're doing this all wrong. I didn't catch what brand of vacuum you have there, but if you got the intex vacuum with the mesh bag, it would plug right into one of your return water fittings. You would have no water leaks, because your connection is inside the pool. Another benefit is you don't have to clean out a leaf trap on your filter or backwash your filter because the mesh bag that is attached to the vacuum itself is catching all the particles. I hope this helps. I'm thinking about making my own video to explain better. Good luck!!!

    • @rigovargas6033
      @rigovargas6033 6 років тому +2

      I have one of the intex vacuums that connects to the return water fitting. That is only a skimmer essentially that grabs large particles, it does not filter the dirt out it just moves it around. Also, it only lasted about a month before it stopped rolling around automatically

      If there is air in the collection basket, you need to turn the pump off and bleed the air from the TOP of the basket, not the bottom like he shows. Turn the pump on and if it sucks more air in, turn off and repeat until suction is created. Good luck.

    When you put your vacuume in after hooking the hose to it just start putting the hose down in the water and when you get to the end of the hose it will be primed it's even easier then using the return line. Mine has a fitting in the pool I put the hose on and just vacuume and when the return water slows just backwash then go again simple as that. By the way it's all common sense and this is my first pool.

    I have been doing this process as a result of trying too many other options. But wouldn't it be great if there was a t valve that you could select either the vacuum hose or the pool output? Such a simple gizmo and yet no matter where i look, it has not been invented. That's because none of the fittings seem to work together. various size hoses, threads, connections, fittings. They could make this much easier that they have. Yours is the best way but i vacuum too often to do all that. I just wanna flip a knob and vacuum.

    • @ratjel12
      @ratjel12 2 роки тому

      if the water in your filter leaf basket lowers just open the white little valve on the top to release the trapped air and the basket will fill back with water. it's best to put it on waste so all that dirt doesn't dirty up your sand. if it's not too dirty then just filter it. when it's on waste your inlet will not send water back into the pool. what do you mean output quit?

  • @andreat2360

    I have a 22x52 Intex and the set up you are showing is too complicated. All you need is a hose and fitting that attaches inside to one of the oulets, the same triangle cleaner, but use a leaf gulper that attaches between the triangle head and hose, as it is a canister that catches and strains the debris and you dont loose suction at all. When you see the canister getting full, just disconnect it , dump it, then reattach and keep vacuuming.

      To get more suction to vacuum, I put a valve on both b ports. I close off the one I'm not vacuuming with. The b ports are those that suck water to the pump/filter. I heard the reason there are two was to reduce the sucking power due to a small girls hair was sucked into the suction and she could not get free. But you can put valves on those ports. In amazin search port b valve adapters for context pool. Pretty handy.

    Does anyone know if you run the pump on filtration or waste setting?

    • @ratjel12
      @ratjel12 2 роки тому +1

      if it's filthy. It's better to just run it to the waste so you don't dirty your sand filter. Pick up a 50' or 100' waste hose and attach it to the waste port so all that mess doesn't end up around the filter/ pool area.

    • @skybox-101
      @skybox-101 Рік тому

      The sandfilter only filters out down to 30microns. Fine algae and dirt will go right back into the water. The fine particles will land back in the floor or float around making water cloudy. So if this starts happenung6it is time to vaccuum to waste. Remember fill pool before wasting.
