"Fourth Flight" is an old shanty to which Colin has written a new lyric describing the flight across the skies of the wild geese, carrying with them man's dreams and his longing for faraway places. The majestic vibration of the flocks' beating wings is imitated masterfully in Joki's arrangement. Against a background of trills from the ensemble, first Albert Mangelsdorff and later Heinz Sauer plays a cadenza which then leads on into a solo with a quickly pulsating free rhythm. Listeners interested in the refinements of playing technique will notice in particular Albert's double tounging and lip trills.
