  • A quick overview of how to bleed the air from a three stage dechlorinator and how I used a hose tap to set the flow rate of the filter to match the recommended flow for the cartridges.
I also show how I installed it to my koi tank to keep it nice and neat and to take some of the hassle out of topping the tank up after water changes.
See my other video of how to replace the cartridges here:

Update: I just filled the whole tank from empty, and I calculated that at the flow rate I set this to it should take six hours to fill. It took exactly six hours, so this tap connector works really well!!

Thanks SKA! Since it set this the flow seems to have slowed a little to about 2 litres a min, which is interesting. It’s really good to know tho as when I do water changes I can set my timer on my phone as to how it takes to refill 👍🏻 thanks for subscribing as well, I hope you enjoy my channel x

Just subscribed 👍🏻 Was wondering with the 3 stage as I thought when reading flow rates with those types of cartridges its meant to be nearly 2ltr Per Min 🤔Could be wrong 🤷🏻

Hiya Simon, thanks for getting in touch and for subscribing to my channel! 😊 I must admit, it wasn’t easy finding much information on this particular filter and the cartridges, but what I did find suggested between 2/4 lpm, so I just went with the mid-range.. I did a test with DPD4 tablets the other day at 3lpm and that came back clear of chlorine so that’s great. I’m definitely going to be keeping a close eye on it though as I suspect as it gets more use, it’ll gradually become less effective. I do intend on doing an update video on this soon where I’m going to do a full before and after water test, so that’ll be interesting to see what affect it’s having on the water parameters. Thanks again for your support 👍🏻

@@chazkoi Good place to have have a look for better cartridges is “Coastal Koi” which you can purchase those refillable cartridges but with far more superior Carbon .!!! Also test water for ammonia as I found out mine is present within mains water which also you can purchase zeolite cartridge and the have you tested for Chloramines??

@@simonshears5182 Thanks for giving me those details, I've had a look and will consider one of their refillable cartridges when mine needs replacing. I will be testing my tap water tomorrow now, so thanks for the heads up :)

Hi just bought one of these was just wondering every time you use it do you have to bleed the air valve’s thanks

Hiya! No, I don’t think so. As my outlet pipe is higher than the inlet, there shouldn’t be any air that can get back into it. That being said, I probably should have bled it when I unplugged it from the tap last time! All in all though, I’m not sure it would make much difference and you certainly wouldn’t want the hassle of bleeding it every time you use it :) have an experiment tho and please do let me know how you get on 👍🏻

Replace the O rings. 90% of the time this is your issue with leaking connectors
