- Well this was an experience 😆 First time installing pond filtration for me so a fair few fails along the way, but I got there in the end lol !
I share my complete learning journey as I install a DIY bottom drain, Evolution Aqua 10,000 litre per hour Varipump and Allpondsolutuons PFC-5000 pressure filter with UV. I used a couple of different flexi hoses including Oase and Hozelock.
I cover how to prevent leaks with ptfe tape and jubilee hose clips and how to fit hoses using a heat gun to get them to fit onto hosetail attachments.
This largely completed the set up for my koi pond which will eventually become my grow on and quarantine tank once I’ve built my main pond.

Looking great mate, leak's are a bloody nightmare, I was chasing leak after leak after leak when I did my setup, I eventually used pond safe sealant and it worked a treat 👍
At least you got there in the end! I’ll look forward to lots of leaks when I build the main pond lol 😆

Great update, just a thought as its happened to me - I think the air pump may be too low down - if its switched off/power fail water can syphon back to the pump - I’ve seen others use non return valves but I don’t know if it will work.
Thanks Richard. Yes, it’s not ideal where I’ve put it I must admit.. I’ve used non return valves in the air lines and tested it a few times by turning the pump off and so far I’ve not haves any syphoning… thanks for your advice mate, when I build my main pond I’m going to make sure I get this sorted 😊

That heavier less ridged pipe is solvent weldable get down to screwfix for some 1.5 inch elbows and some glue 👌

Hi. I'm interested to see how you get on with the PFC-5000. I inherited one when I moved into this house and have just replaced it with a new one.
Is your pump 10,000 L/H (Looking at the box in the vid)? Any problems with leaks from the PFC-5000? The max flow rate, according to the manual , is 6,000 L/H. I'm getting leaks from under the UV head cover and I'm wondering whether pump size is a contributing factor?
Hiya! Its working ok for me at the moment, not had any problems with leaks from the unit itself. It might be worth taking the lid off and the uv compartment and checking that all of the seals are seated properly. My pump is 10,000 lph which I run at about 3,500 lph. I do sometimes run it at the full 10k and still have no leaks, so I wouldn’t have thought that would be what your problem is? If you have a look over my other videos I did an unboxing video of the pressure filter which might be helpful for you to see how it all fits together and where all the seals are etc. one word of warning though, if you are tempted to use some sealant on it, make sure you get some fish friendly silicone and most domestic sealants are poisonous to fish. Let me know how you go and hope you get it sorted.
