Here's the controller panels for the siren. The distant siren was the LACFD Squad 58 following with EQ2B blaring with the other one.

i was riding with county 58s that day and had to take an opportunity to ride with mccormick since they don't allow minor ride alongs, this was the way to do it haha. thanks for watching

Now Columbus Division of Fire used Both the Whelen and EQ2B the Eq2b only used at Intersections while the Whelen is still going at Yelp

You could "MAKE MONEY" Training EVERY La County Paramedic on the Correct Use of the E-Q2 Siren. Not once did you use the horrible yelp function (that sounds more like an auto burglar alarm) and traffic yielded the "Right-of-Way".

I'm not sure what year mccormick started using the eQ but their eQ siren is much much louder than their whelen siren. traffic in LA sucks and people claim sirens are too quiet so mccormick added more noise. when they have both sirens running at once, it gets pretty noisy.

Why does the squad follow you?

private ambulances are staffed with EMT's (BLS), squads are staffed with paramedics (ALS). on calls that require advanced care enroute to the hospital, one of the medics from the squad hops on the ambulance while the other medic drives to the hospital. this allows for paramedics to become available from the hospital quicker. they don't have to "hold the wall" as long as the ambulances do.

they all have the original panels that they always have but some have newer amps that have the epsilon but he didn't use it so i couldn't tell.

itchyboy it's a 295 panel but some of the mccormick rigs have the newer amps (that are super loud) and they have and epsilon sound instead of the 295. it's the same thing with LAFD's sirens, they didn't get new whelen sirens, just new amps.

Not a fan either, but at least this EMT knows how to use it. I am surprised there are not more accidents with County Squads. Luckily, they have great warning lights.
