Rusty Wright - No Man is an Island lyric video

- No Man is An Island, the new single by the Rusty Wright Band, was inspired in part by an autistic child but was written for everyone who has ever felt set apart from others - physically or mentally marooned. Shipwrecked, if you will.
"It's not a three-minute pop song. It's a powerful piece of music and I felt it important to follow where the music was taking me, rather than me trying to compress the song into a cookie cutter format," said Rusty Wright, front man and primary songwriter for the group. "That being said, why not focus on creating music as ART instead of just another formulaic commodity. The songs longer than most radio hits but only because it has so much to say. The lyrics speak of sadness, of feeling apart, and longing for a place where you feel like you belong, like a castaway on an island who through no act or fault of their own has been placed apart from the rest of the world. From that description you might think it’s a depressing song but the music builds to this soaring organ and guitar crescendo as the song progresses and it leaves you with this uplifted feeling. At every show people have leapt to their feet at the end. That's what prompted us to make this the first single."
"We knew we had something special when we performed it at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago in June. We had just started performing it live. We hit the last note and heard this wave of sound roll at us from the audience as the entire place stood and roared their approval. You always dream of moments like that.
"No Man Is An Island" is a song with a deep lyrical understanding of isolation and a thick heavyweight melody that will hold you to the last note. An instant add to my personal playlist
Another brilliant tune by The Rusty Wright Band. Added to the Best Music of 2018 and Blues 200 to 2019 playlists. Will add to a future podcast as well. ;-)
I got chills when I heard this live recently....so powerful and needed to be aaid...Bravo!!!😍😍😍
bro this is a so true story, so happy to see this old metal head mature into one of the best blues act ever from Michigan
That's damned good!!! Gotta get a LP...
Glad you like it! We're releasing this as a digital single for now and it will be available October 4th. The album will be out next spring. We're experimenting with singles since the industry seems to be moving back that way.
Like all others, heard this live for the third time last Saturday, and still got the same chills and goosebumps and tearing eyes again. I will bet we will on Nov 9th, when we hear it again. Fantastic song, emotion moving lyrics, and the music, well, WOW! Great song, Rusty and company. Perfezione!!
Excellent music (even I can recognize it when I hear it) and an excellent intro to this video. Equally so is track 10 on Live from the end of the World: 1st wave. Same song, accompanied by message well worth the time.
Thank you, Ockert Wessels - and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.
This is so beautiful. It gives me goosebumps. Thank you Rusty Wright and Laurie and the band. I would ABSOLUTELY play this on 'Drivin' Home With the Blues'
Same here Irene, RWBand, thanks for this, it is awesome!

Very Cool, love it - Especially the kick in where Lauri comes in on background around 2:40 gave me chills - Great job....
I saw you perform this at Rockford this summer right after you wrote it and it hit home to me as I have a special needs child as well. Love this song and the message and hope it brings to everyone!
It's tragic that a song of this caliber can't find a home on terrestrial radio. Back when mainstream rock was actually rock and not this techno-thumping garbage, programmers would have jumped on this. An epic 8 minute track with subject matter that will immediately hit you in the gut. All of these great unheralded musicians who can't get the time of day from a dead music industry.
Thanks very much. We thought we would experiment with releasing a string of singles this time around and this was the first to be made available from our upcoming album. Sadly, our experiment with a single release was met with fierce resistance by mainstream and public radio. The album will drop at the beginning of November.
Wow...just wow....awesome and powerful. Made me cry!!
No man is a island is excellent!! Im one of those times 10!! Great guitar!, Im 66 and been playing guitar for 48 years, our style's are similar, so I really like your jams, thanks for the video.
