You are lucky enough to interview James William Guercio! He's actually nicer than what most people think. Shame he stopped managing Chicago after Terry Kath died.
I was 16 in KCMO
..drove my mom's Duster to Arrowhead and saw my first concert...CHICAGO...1974....
Great stories on the inner workings of record companies and all the work it takes before we hear it. Thanks Joe.
I've said it before - this stuff needs to be preserved, and Joe Chambers is the man performing a vital role in that regard. Amazing info. Thanks, as always Joe!!
Thank you Roger…Joe
Just priceless for the history and especially documenting all the stories about the "lesser-known" musicians, engineers and producers from these interviews, all complete with photos non-the-less. Non of this possible without the peerless Joe Chambers who now is something like a modern day Alan Lomax for preserving the history of our music.
Thanks for watching Don…Joe
I agree Don. Joe is the best interview in the business. Spread the word about these videos!
How wonderful to hear two of the titans of rock tell their stories! Thank you!
What an awesome interview Joe! I could listen non-stop to all of you talk about the music of our lives! Thanks and hope that all is well on your end....
Thanks Steve…Joe
What I wouldn’t do to sit there with you guys and listen in person!
I loved the early Elton John; he was huge, the 1970-1974 stuff was and is my favorite - It's 7 o'clock and it's time to rock, gonna get a bellyful of beer; my sister looks cute in her braces and boots, a handful of grease in her hair - Rock on, Joe, looking forward to the 3rd part of the interview.
Thanks Gary….Joe
Another epic interview series. Joe you are rockin it for sure. Thank you sir. 👍🏻😎
Thanks David…Joe
Mr. Chambers, I absolutely love these kind of interviews. You know, the back stories that the record companies, will never tell, us, the record buying public. It’s always interesting to hear how bands get together, but even more fascinating to hear how the players, find each other. I was always one of those record buyers who would study the album liners, and see who the different musicians were, that were playing on the record. I loved how Kenny mentioned that Jimmy Pankow did an arrangement for Elton, and his producer didn’t use it. I’ve followed Chicago since I was much younger, (66), and enjoyed hearing Guercio’s comments on the band. Please continue to make these interviews, I’m a big fan. Joe, from Pennsylvania.
Thanks for sharing your comments JP… best, Joe
The great interview continues. Thanks Joe
Thanks Fred… glad you’re enjoying it. I enjoyed doing the interview too. Best, Joe
The Manassas LP's 5 song opening suite is an absolutely fantastic masterpiece. For some reason, it was released along with a double-LP's worth of filler.
Joe, I wish you had more time to do more of these great interviews! They just keep getting better and better! Thanks for sharing!💫
Thanks Larry….Joe
The inner drive ,off the wall yet keeping sanity! The general public have no idea what it takes! The Beatles had George Martin! And America had James the "G" g= genius! To balance musician, Studio, radio and vinyl 45 rpm to LP ! Then you get Kenny to play the song with artist but allowing musician creativity! A lot of studio musician's do the chart! Notes linear and sounds blah! It's working progress to me Columbia records at the time had vision and producer's, engineer's from Gary Puckett,Blood Sweet and tears, Dylan,"Chicago"! To me the the recording industry today is into digital not human creativity and the public not buying $ but Rather go to concerts, radio now ,air streaming! Thanks Joe! Great video more to come!
Thank You Joe!
Great, great interview Joe! Bring on pt. 3!
The 2nd BST album educated a rock oriented audience in well played jazz. Mr. Guercio produced two of the best ever. Wore those {3} albums to the bone .
I have returned here three times now. Just an outstanding interview. I am amazed at how they all stay connected and recommend each other. The music industry was really interesting back then.
Hi Ole,
My Dad Joe, normally responds comments here but he passed away September 28.
I know he would love that you have watched this interview 3 times, thank you for the support and interest!
We have a concert and Induction Ceremony at the Musicians Hall of Fame, this year it’s November 22 & James William Guercio is being inducted. Dad was so excited for this show, if you are in Nashville I know you would love it.
Best,
Britt
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Britt, I’m very saddened to hear that Joe passed. We are around the same age. I planned to come visit the museum next year just to meet Joe. Now I missed the chance to meet a great guy who would have become a good friend. The man left a legacy that will live on.
Ole,
I’m just seeing this reply.
Although he would have loved to meet you too, just know that he was the same on video and in comments as he was in real life.
He really enjoyed his conversations and support on UA-cam, from friends like you.
Please still come visit the museum, and ask for Linda, Alex or Britt- hopefully one of us will be around and would like to say hello!
james William guercio great producer. Kenny passarilli great guy.
Actually Mike Finnigan was in the Serfs recording down the hall at The Record Plant. Hendrix got Mike, Smith the sax, and Larry the conga player to jam with Buddy Miles on drums. Later Jimi added vocals
Daryl Hall and John Oates would certainly be great additions to the MHOF, as would their entire 80's band (G.E. Smith, Micky Curry, Charlie DeChant, and posthumously Tom Wolk)
You're killing me Joe. Just when it gets good. (You'd think I be used to it by now😂😂😂😂)
Sorry Blues…. It’s not meant to leave you hanging honestly. We just edit the interviews each segment and instead of holding them back until it’s all done I wanted to share with you as quickly as we could. Lots of editing and adding photos. Jay does a great job finding and adding the pictures, tightening up the slower moments all which takes time. I hope we will have part three up middle of next week. Best, Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum you know I ain't mad at you Joe. I know it takes time to edit, etc. , Gil
Hi Blue… I know….. I just wanted you to know why part two or three wasn’t up yet. I hate getting left hanging too when watching reruns of Barnaby Jones and the Rockford files when they do two part stories and I have to wait till the following night. I’m more impatient than anyone:)…. Best, Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum 👍👌
Thanks again
Great stuff Joe, I couldn't believe it was over so quickly. Kenny is such an open and nice guy, but James seems a bit prickly sometimes. I did however warm a little to him on this film.
Agreed…Jim prickly. Seems a bit impatient but given his contributions to music gets a pass. Could listen to Joe’s conversations in all his interviews all day long. What a gift Joe is giving to us.
Ya Joe !!
👏👏👏👏 Cool stuff!!!
👍
God bless Mike Finnigan
