Blake calls it the "The Big Twist." Amazing! Yet, this is only the 2nd place finisher. At the 2:16 mark, you can see the winner, Gary Hunt. The 3rd place guy, Orlando Duque, dives at the 1:23 mark. The tough 13th place guy, Steve LoBue, finished his dive although he hit his head on the platform. On May 30, 2015, Possum Kingdom, Texas held the following contest.

Yes it does, it softens the impact. In pools they use a bubbler instead of a hose.
