Yeah, it's like the 90s version of Ugly Sonic. They messed up literally everything, you can tell what Munchie must have looked like as a production sketch and as a drawing, the design would still be awful, but not nightmare inducing. But then they tried to translate a cartoony sketch into a puppet for a movie, so they had to make it look realistic... and decided to do that by giving it weird wrinkles and this disgusting looking skin. Doesn't help that having three fingers looks totally fine with animation but irl looks unsettling. And just to add insult to injury, they animate this puppet with really jerky and oftentimes erratic hand-movements. The face ain't much better either. Many points of articulation in the mouth and eyes, but somehow, all this does is making the puppet look even more uncanny.
Also, the 1970 opening is omitted in the MST3K version. They show the opening title screen with the chattering toy teeth and then it cuts to "Today". So two versions of the film exist, apparently.
*Hey, which lab created the botched hybrid between a chipmunk and a Christmas elf wearing a stolen leather jacket from that stupid Happy Days show?…* *And where the hell is Kurt Russell with the flamethrower when you need him?!*
