You're a very underrated reviewer
Unlike most of the Live-Action Remakes, I actually really liked this one, and yeah while it was a Remake of the Original film it AT LEAST did some things differently and more creatively. The best part I loved about this movie was making the Dalmatians and other animals not talk, as it allowed for a strong emphasis on Visual storytelling.

I think the reason why we like this live action remake is that it's made not to be a cheap cash grab. Like with the Jungle Book remake, it does something new with the material or switches focuses around. It now makes me kind of regret that I threw out my old vhs of this movie. Also Glen Close was made to be Cruella.
I actually watched the live action one more than the animated one as a kid and owned it on VHS. I never owned the animated one. This is one of those rare cases where i think the live action movie may be better than the animated andnot just because this version of Cruella is just plain awesome, but the fact that the animals don't talkbut communicate through their body language and visuals actually is a plus for me

I don't know if it's just me but I always preferred the live action remake of 101 dalmatians, it just always seemed more entertaining than it's animated counterpart.

Glenn Close is very good at being over the top and intimidating. Anyone who's seen this film or Fatal Attraction would agree.
At least this movie isn't shot for shot like the Beauty and the Beast remake. Ugh!

They have before. I don't why they're remaking them. What's the point? Just for pure nostalgia? Because nostalgia has been a hot trend lately.
marianne mccrank and B II Oh Yeah, I forgot they used to do that, and I can see with DVDs why it would seem pointless to do so. But if they are going to make very minor changes, they may as well rerelease them in theatres
@@jackhamilton9604 Another thing they did was re-release them in 3D so you would be able to experience the same movie in theaters from a new angle. I bet the Lion King was awesome to see in 3D considering the scope and scale it had.

@@jackhamilton9604 they just want to keep their live action studio alive after their last good original saga Pirates of the Caribbean failed and all their original movies fail, at least the remakes bring in safe profit

I like the 96 movie also my only fault is that we didn’t get to see CGI version of The epic chase scene also The 6L V8 isn’t the size of the hood unlike it’s 60L VR8 7.4 FT Cartoon counterpart

I'm really glad you finally made a review of this movie. I will admit this movie is far from great, but glenn close was amazing in the role of curella de vil and at least it came out a time when we're not getting all these pointless remakes like we are now. it was the first attempt at the idea back in 1996 and it stayed that way for 14 years I'm pretty sure. that's saying a lot I think!
I’ve seen this movie a few times and I’m only entertained through maybe the first 30 minutes. After that, I start to drift away and I become unfocused. The sequel however I’m a little more engaged in because I absolutely adore Glenn Close’s performance! Especially with a very particular ending scene ;)

I used to watch this all the time! Really enjoyed it, especially Jasper and Horace. My biggest annoyances have to be how they got Roger’s character completely wrong - he wasn’t sassy enough, and was just overall boring, completely the opposite of the original film. Roger was always one of my favourite characters. My other problem was they erased Sargent Tibbs from the story completely. His character was perfect in the original because it made sense that a nimble and sleek cat would be sneaking about and sneaking the puppies out rather than a large, clumsier dog. It also put a cat in a good light, which is rare in a film centred around dogs. This teaches kids that both animals are great and aren’t enemies. A small detail but one that’s bothered me for years. Great review as always!
Seems that this review on live-action Disney movie was pretty good. Very curious to see what the Patrons choose for the next Orange review. And since 2019 was the year of Disney live-action remakes, how would you rank the three L-A Disney movies (Dumbo, Aladdin, and The Lion King) that released this year from best (or least bad) to worst (most horrible)?
I remember this movie! Yeah, it's passable. And it's different from most other Disney live-action remakes because it wasn't a part of the current trend of them (there have even been a few 90s live-action 'Jungle Book' films from Disney). The sequel to this movie...well, Glenn Close still shone as bright as ever, but there are many ways in which it's darker and more absurd than this movie, but it's not especially great from what I recall.
I like 101 Dalmatians
I have a nostalgia attachment to this one. I grew up with this over the original actually. I can still appreciate the original, but this is still a pretty damn good movie for what it is. Maybe even underrated. I have always enjoyed the movie to this day. The sequel way less so. But Glenn Close is all you needed. You aren’t lying, she always stood out most.
