"We'll wonder down to Cottesloe, eat fish and chips in the final glow." So Perth. So beautiful...and even more emotional now that Tim has lost his mum 🤍
I want to see it but it only seems to be available if I buy showtime. I’d be willing to buy the show itself. I’m hoping in time it’ll move to a different platform.
Upright is genuinely one of the best shows I've ever seen in my entire life. This might sound dramatic but when Lucky played this song at the end of episode 5 it actually changed my life.
A great song for a great show. I sat down last night to "just check it out and watch one episode" and ended up binging it in its entirety. I was dead tired this morning, but it was worth it.
and a 14yrl from SF also loves you missy higgens. I went to concert in SF a few years back. I LOVED IT and I got to keep the set lists she used. It’s hung up on my wall.
I love how despite the first and the second rounds of pre-chorus + chorus have exactly the same texts, they are sung in the very different way, and the clippings from Upright changed too. First round was hopeful, cheerful, light-hearted; while it quickly fell downhill during the instrumental part, to become sad in the second pre-chorus and even depressive in the second chorus, only to end up with Lucky's face finally brightened with relieved smile. What a deep, carefully crafted piece of art this music video is.
Missy and Tim this was perfection. To all those who I’ve lost: I will carry you. Little brother, you defied all doctors expectations to live the night with me and I still treasure that night in my heart. Though we cannot be together, I know that I will carry you wherever I go. Lord knows I will carry you.
the wide shots of the australian landscape gives me such nostalgia. My family travelled a lot when i was young, though i dont remember a lot of it as it wasnt a childhood worth remembering, i yearn to see those parts of australia with clear eyes now im older and not part of a toxic family life.
Wow, very powerful lyrics. Tells it for those of us who have ended relationships knowing that they cannot be with someone for one reason or another, but will always "carry" them in their hearts.
I am complete;y blown away by this song, this tv series, these wonderful Australian artists, by you MIssy, by Tim, Millie. All of it. Totally wonderful XXX
Yes, but made with Tim Minchin's input and approval. Missy's cover of the song accompanied the credits to "Upright," the marvelous mini-series starring Tim.
I don’t know how to say how this makes me feel, but is huge and brings stillness and tears. It fills every corner of my soul. Tim, please release you singing it too. Maybe a Capella like you did in Portsmouth UK? I’m 60 years old and that show moved me way beyond the way any live event ever before. You are all astonishing - thank you so very much.
@@henrybatchem4617 I did, cos I tried to find it, cos I'm sad like that. Actually, much sadder than that cos I tracked down most of the locations in the series.
So Western Australia. Love it. Love you Missy. All the best for 2020 & beyond! MissyHiggins and Tim Minchin. Aussie perfection. Thank u both. A rock and roll nerd loves you both.
I can't believe this came out on my birthday and I've only just seen it! Out of all the years gone by, this is the one where I needed a late B'day pressy from Tim!
From the 🇺🇸 Missy I happened to catch a concert of yours on a PBS station before going to bed one night around 2005. I'm from New Orleans so 2005 was when Katrina hit. I ended up living in Colorado for 9 months. During that time I found your CD at the time and listened and listened and cries like a women. Lol. It was therapy and I needed it. I raised my son by myself. Your music touches me to my core. I love that Australian folk vibe. Anyway I still check in to see what you are up to and that time in my life in Colorado will always be a great healing time period for me and my son had it in his memory bank. You were the soundtrack. Thank you.
Another channel I follow mentioned Tim Minchin. Thought to myself that I hadn't listened to him in quite a while, so I hopped on over to his channel. Discovered this song today. My mom died in November. I've been a fucking mess for hours.
Now that i've seen the show Upright, this song means so much more and has such a different meaning lol. Love it. Beautifully written by Tim and sung by Missy. I regularly have it on loop for a few hours at a time.
Aussie music really is great. Great memories of Powderfinger, Hunters and Collectors, and Paul Kelly..... and now this (another artist to add to my audio library) Plus Mr Minchin in the video. Nice way to end the week :)
So Western Australia. Love it. Thank you, God, for fixing the cataracts of Sam's mum! I have been waiting for this since finishing Upright. Love love love love!
Love Missy's voice. It's weird I was listening to Missy's music tonight, which I haven't listened to in a while and found this video, I've never heard it before. I love finding new music ❤️😁🎶
I’m a simple person. I see Tim, I click. I see music videos, I click.
Clumsy Short my exact thinking
Well I dunno man, that's a whole sentence more complex than most people claiming to be simple people.
Damn you Tim, you always make a sandgroper overseas think of home.

I think I know what you mean. I feel the same.
Brilliant song, and Tim couldn’t have picked anyone better to sing it … 🥰🥰🥰

The closing of the piano cover is so powerful, and a metaphor for my loss
