- On May 3rd, 2021, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a Publix Grocery Store following reports of a child being left unattended in a vehicle for an extended period. This is footage of the events that followed.
If you had a stack of money, would you leave it unattended in an unlocked car? So isn't your baby more precious than money?
Yeah that's true
Thank you, I’ll buy that T-shirt
Excellent point.
I appreciate how you think ❤
And in plain view of passerbys? Excellent analogy.
How sweet that the little girl offered an M&M to the officer?!
Yeah, that was adorable
Sweets for the sweet! That officer spoke so nicely to the children. If he’s not a father yet, he’ll certainly make a good one someday. ❤
Hopefully her parents teach her in future to never talk to cops
@@hardcoreromeo2111 Yeah, so if she ever needs help she shouldn’t talk to a police officer? That makes ZERO sense. 🤪
That was wholesome ❤
How long do you leave a baby in a car? Correct answer: 0 min
Literally this! When I was pregnant with my 3rd child, I was sick and miserable and literally had to carry a big cup with me in the car in case I barfed while driving. I was working & I was a single mom of 3 & 4 year old daughters and was so exhausted and on the verge of crashing out every single day. But I never even considered leaving my girls alone in the car. Anywhere I went, they went right by my side. On my very worst days when I simply couldn't deal with toddler tantrums in the store, but HAD to go...I would drive 5 miles to my brother's house and pick him up and while I ran my errands he would take the girls to McDonald's, push them around in the store (separate from me so I could focus on getting what we needed) or if it was a quick trip they'd sit in the car with him. But even when I was just running to the ATM directly inside the door at the gas station, even still with 3 kids and even if I'm parked directly outside the door. Unless there's another adult in the car watching out for them, caring for them & keeping them safe, my kids come in with me still and my oldest is 8 now.
I here you. I've peed in a cup in my car to avoid dragging all my sleeping kids into a gas station with me or leave them in car.
@@incognitopotato5627One day your kids will see how much work you put into raising them and seriously appreciate it.

If you know daddy’s fam is going after you , leaving your kid in the car unattended is not a good idea!
That explains why the child's father's family are after her, she's problematic
And why did they contact the "fiancé" to pick up the child instead of the FATHER?

With curbside pickup and Instacart, there’s no excuse for this
No joke. I thought of that too. Curbside she wouldn’t even have to get out of the car. 🤦🏼♀️🙄. And in my area, curbside is free.
But, also in all fairness it's ONE CHILD. Take the damn baby in with you. There's NO excuse for this pathetic excuse of a "mother".
Good point if you can afford the higher prices.
No excuse ever for this. Adults who see children as inconvenient shouldn't have them.
@@sunnyd4125 Instacart jacks up the prices but most stores including Walmart and Publix, have free online ordering and free pickup. They even load it in your car.
Had this happen. I saw and heard the baby, it was crying very loudly, looked to be just a few months old, in an unlocked car, alone, in the summer, car not running, just a cracked window. I called the police and then took the baby out of the car. The mom came out just before cops arrived, snatched the baby and starting screaming at me, when cops arrived she said i was taking(kidnapping) her baby. After all was said and done, the woman was arrested for child endangerment and neglect of a minor. It was 98° out and she had been in the store for about 30 min. That baby could have died. But was the mother grateful, of course not.
I'm so glad you were there! What a vile woman!
It's no way she should have fussed you out. I had to park one day and get in the backseat to breastfeed, but the car was on of course. A man was working near by and heard her screaming with them strong baby lungs😊. I rolled the window down and said I'm here she's just fussing cause she's hungry. People care that's great and I love it
My God that’s crazy
Hopefully she thought on it later and realized how quickly her baby COULD HAVE been taken if the wrong person found it!
A lot of these people don't want their kid and that's why they leave them places
Omgoodness why not just take your child in the store with you! Animals take better care of their babies; seriously.
The baby was even awake, apparently. I know a lot of times parents like this will make the (lame) excuse that they "didn't want to wake the baby," but her baby was up. Why not take them in? Makes no sense. I'd have so much anxiety leaving my baby in the car to get groceries. Omg.
She's lazy!
We are animals
Plain stupid decision-making. Leaving the car running with the door unlocked and your precious baby waiting to be taken. My blood is boiling 😡

My son was super active, didn’t sit nicely in carts and was a nightmare to shop with. The last thing I ever thought of doing was leaving him alone in a car! If she has a CPS case open why would she not take the baby in the store.
Because she’s an idiot
Sadly, as someone who used to work in foster care, many birth parents have very poor decision making skills and demonstrate repeated questionable judgment.
Her leaving the baby in the car is more of a symptom of the way she lives and views life and parenting. She likely didn't think to bring the baby in, because she figured the baby was "safe" in the car seat. Having an open investigation wouldn't necessarily be a reason for her to be extra cautious, because she likely already thinks she is being cautious by leaving the air conditioning on and the baby secured in the seat.
Again, poor judgment skills.

I know it's serious and all but I feel she's genuinely remorseful and will never do it again. Trying to give grace here 😞
So she locked her kid in a car that doesn’t lock 🤦♂️🤦♂️ good lord…..
And the car was apparently running.
This "mother" ticks me OFF. What reasonable adult leaves a child so vulnerable?? ANYTHING could have happened!!!! I was an Auntie at 10. (1975) I have babysat for family, neighbors. etc. I have NEVER left a child ALONE. The very first time I became a MOM was 1986. My second child was born in 1990. I have NEVER, would NEVER leave my child in a car while shopping. IDGAF how long a shopping trip might be. THAT NEVER entered my mind. EVER!!! EVEN today in 2024...People who do these things NEED to go to JAIL and face consequences. SMDH
Im afraid to run back into the house with my car in the garage...you got the baby from daycare...take her with you.
You can’t take your baby in the store with you…. Are you kidding me???
“… as safe as possible”
She has ZERO idea how to care for and raise a goldfish. Having a child to care for is no where on her “personal skills” chart! 😡😡😡
And her general affect when being cuffed and after being cuffed tells me she’s pretty calm about this whole procedure!
Absolutely right
ZERO MINUTES. Your baby is GONE in 1 minute lady. CPS.
No excuse at all. 🤬Period.
I have ZERO empathy for parents who leave their children in vehicles unattended. This is only one tiny one-I lugged around 3 by myself every single place I went in the rain, snow, etc. Anything could happen to that baby in the blink of an eye, and she would have no idea. If your child/children are an inconvenience for you, then you should not have them. Shame on her!
Once again an irresponsible parent
SOMEONE should have just LOCKED the door!!!!
Nine minutes is not bad - the mother was telling the truth, clearly. She estimated 10 minutes and it was actually 9 minutes. The woman who was a witness got the timing totally wrong - she estimated 30 minutes! Americans are nuts when it comes to this stuff, but I certainly agree you should never leave a baby alone in a car at all. But let me say, I know loving parents who would leave a sleeping baby alone in the car in their garage because they didn't want to wake them when they got home. And guess what? Nothing bad happened. The main reason to never chance something like this is #1. Something bad MIGHT happen, and #2. Someone might call the cops and make your life living hell.
She started with 5 minutes max, then went to 5 to 7, then 10. Also, are you seriously equating leaving your baby alone in an unlocked car in public to leaving them in the car at home, in a closed garage?
Baby is not fine or Okay , I wonder how many times she did this before she actually got caught and exposed- the father needs to take that child from the careless mother.. she only showed cared about the baby when police arrived in the scene..:lady seriously you have DCF case open u decide to do this again open the door for more charges
She is only concerned with pleasing her fiancé with his dinner. 😡
I wonder how old the baby is since she already is engaged to the other man.
She said “I totally get it” But no YOU DONT GET IT ,it’s not ok to leave an infant for any amount of time.
She knew she was wrong for that! Her anxiety speaks for itself
Coco-melon alone is a crime. Life no parole.
You never leave your child like this
Never, ever is there a reason or an "excuse" to leave a baby in a car alone!! Especially if the driver side door doesn't even lock, wow! Unbelievable 😒
And she didn't even bother to come up with an excuse as to why, she just left her.
… and who’s to say this isn’t the first time 😡
Obviously it’s not ok to leave a baby in a car unattended for any amount of time. So why did the lady who called lie and say it was at least 30 minutes? There’s a pretty significant difference between 30+ and 9 . . .
it takes a minute to unbuckleand remove a child from a car, how much time are you actually trying to save and willing to put your babie's life at risk.. think about that people.. take your babies with you. who cares how much time you''re trying to save.
I spent so much time sitting waiting in running cars, no seatbelts, no baby seats- nothing. That’s how it was in the 80s. My parents were physicians.
We are on 2024 things have changed
wtf reason in the world would anyone do something this stupid?
Child services need to teach this woman a few things
She is Soooo concerned with her BF and that damm pasta i could just throw up!!!
She is split up from the father of an infant - way too soon to even have a boyfriend. Dingbat young woman.
Cars are not babysitters
Right. ONLY TVs are!!
There's also the threat of Co2 poisoning depending on what condition the car's exhaust system is in.
Actually it would be carbon monoxide (CO), not CO2, but less likely being it was outdoors.
Did she really just say she didn’t think it was against the law to leave her baby in a running car by itself ?!?!?! I can’t with these people He better put her in jail.
I was so neglected as a kid that I will never understand why leave a kid alone 🤦♀️
So she thinks 5-10 minutes is a safe limit of time to leave a baby in a car? I think the officer was looking for the answer "ZERO", a zero amount of time!
I agree for a parking lot or high traffic area. I hope her classes helped the new mom.
@@MIForrestguynowhere in the US is safe to do that, not even your driveway
I don’t know where all of you live, but people leave cars running and unlocked where I live all the time. With children in it, probably not. Boomer warning, I spent long times in the car waiting for my mother. And the lady who said it was at least 30 minutes was not even close, it was nine minutes.
