Man, this series is really good. I haven't played Pokemon since B/W2 and never played competitively and I find this super easy to follow. I'll always have at least a passing interest in pokemon and this scratches that itch very well.
(i'm total newbie to competitive pokemon) can someone tell me what game is he playing? is it pokemon showdown? i know it says "pokemon sword and shield" in the description but there is no way?
Insane terra predict there. Your logic makes sense but going for close combat on a +3 defense Hariyama just feels so wrong, I don't know if I would have been able to make the same play even if I suspected it.
It's one of those plays that you can only make with prior knowledge of your opponent being a good player. I feel like Freezai could only be somewhat confident in his play because he was confident that his opponent knew what they were doing.
@@char1194 This comes up soooooo often, and actually lends to some "ELO Hell" ideas. With so much information and content on how to be a good player, but no experience, it can be a struggle to break through plateaus where no one plays like you are taught to expect them to play
@@crendra11 Yeah, watching good players like Pokeaim actually say "Wait, this is low ladder, why am I predicting? I'm just gonna attack what's in front of me from now on" really shows how much you can get punished for playing "too well" against a weak opponent.

This video was super interesting! A lot of the times, videos like these are just unedited showdown gameplay which doesn't really keep some people very engaged but the fact that you went back and forth between it, Sc/Vio, and your own animations kept it really interesting! And you actually explaining your gameplan in-depth is great too! All around very solid content!
Love these recaps where you give the rundown on your team and your thought process when making it. Then the narration of your decisions with in-game visuals to complement them is the cherry on top. Nice plays btw. That close combat to call out Tera was 5head
Scyther in particular is special because it actually has the same BST as its evos in 500, being way faster than both of em in exchange for offense and bulk. Of course, it’s still worse due to its bad typing, but that also makes it a prime Tera abuser.
@@BadCandyStudios Exactly, which I really want more evo lines like Scyther’s. Defensively he’s the worst of the three sure, but bro is such a fun and fast technician user. One of my favorites. All three of then ultimately function differently, which is really cool to me
2 weeks in a ROW you and your opponent have teams built around the same Pokemon with similar builds, items and all. As always, I love watching these videos even after I saw the original battle, the Scar/Vio footage and the further explanations really do it for me, great work!
I just gotta say thank you for putting so much effort to making these videos accessible with all the little context explanations. As a newbie to competitive pokemon, you really got me intrigued! If anyone reading this knows any other similar/good comp. pokemon UA-camrs, I would really love to know!
The read on the Tera was so CLEAN. This is probably the best competitive Pokémon content. Well made, super well explained, well produced, incredibly interesting and full of strategy that you walk us all the way through. You’ve found your niche! Own it!
I am loving this series and hearing your teambuilding thought as well as in game clips and decision making. Making good reads on the opponent plays and hard punishing the slightest misstep has always been my favourite part of hyper offense.
I'm sure other channels have done this, or maybe you've already done this and I've just missed it, but I'd really love to see a video that discusses an overview of team building concepts. Reviewing the lingo, the basics of team building styles, how those different styles are piloted differently in comparison to the others, etc. It doesn't even need to be a single video either, it can be a whole new series of videos where you start with the rudimentary basics, but then progress to going into more detail throughout future videos, focusing on a particular play style with each new video. Like one week you're talking about hyper offensive team building style, then the next week you're reviewing all the variants of stall based teams, the hybrids, balanced cores, etc.
I think videos like this from freezai would be really cool and I'd love to hear his take on it, but if you're looking for something in the meantime, BKC has done a lot of videos about higher level concepts/team building before and has videos analyzing high profile battles; I don't think his style is for everyone because it's unscripted, but he knows what he's talking about and it has the same vibe as sitting in a college lecture.
I really like how you explain your team building ideas before getting to the battles, and the ideas themselves are fun and interesting. You are making some of the best Pokemon content on the platform with these videos, well done.
The description for bullet punch is "Pew Pew Pow Pow" on freezai's editing and it made me laugh so hard that I'm making sure someone else can see it 😂 3:40

Love these tournament match videos. Leading with your team building thought process is really informative, and the commentary for the match itself is great too. Plus I'm biased towards NU and UU anyway, so I'm gonna watch them by defualt. :p
This is largely irrelevant but its cool to me that between scyther and salazzle all 4 stabs hit grass super effective despite how diverse the spread is
