Just an fyi, the stamped logo on the bracelet is The Great Seal of the United States (coat of arms) and was adopted in 1794.
Thanks, enjoyed the video and happy 4th of July. 🇺🇸
“The Great Seal of the United States is a unique symbol of our country and national identity. Only one authorized Great Seal is in official use and is operated by the U.S. Department of State. The Great Seal is impressed upon official documents such as treaties and commissions.”

I have the sterile gsar and it does have a 2824-2 movement. I agree, if I had a do-over I’d go quartz only because I have plenty of mechanical watches and an accurate grab and go is hard to beat. I applaud Marathon for not cheaping out on the quartz version 😎.

I had ths 36mm auto, sold it and miss it a lot. Will buy a 41mm quartz when I have the cash to spare.

I voted with my wallet picked a tsar and not looking back. I've got other automatic divers and to me the spirit of this watch is a tool that might get bashed around - quartz makes more sense to me in that use case.

I’ve had my GSAR for close to 5 years and it’s an awesome watch, I wear it all the time!

Got my GSAR from a feller who fought in Afghanistan, then I fought myself in a shithole deli for a few years. This thing can go through hell and just take it. The weakest point is actually the tritium. I've banged mine and had the tubes fall off. Had to have them glued back on by my local fixer.
Also my brclet clasp basically exploded the first day I received it. Stamped clasp is crap, just put it on a nato or their beautiful OEM scented strap.

I have the TSAR version. I have had it for one year and I have no complaints. I wanted the quartz version since I needed a grab and go watch without the worry of using a watchwinder. My only other watch is an Omega AT which is mechanical. I am satisfied with the TSAR that if I had bought before the AT, I probably would not have the AT ( which I truly enjoy and is my daily watch for work ).

I'd also go with the TSAR because the red-tipped seconds hand is a nice touch and the dimensions are similar to the GSAR. Those watches look like they can take a beating for sure.

I have the 41mm GSAR and it landed on a OD green 5 ring nato strap. Such a sweet combo! Keep swaping to the bracelet just to see, but feels much more at home on the nato.

I really like the Marathon SAR watches. It seems to me the quartz misses the minute markers more than I would like but I don't think it would make it a no go for me.

Just picked up a gsar. Wanted the automatic because I am a merchant mariner and out at sea about 8 months out the year and don’t want the battery to die on me in the middle of nowhere overseas. With that said I would get the quartz and save money if I could.

Good review Toran. I might have to get one for my SAR call-outs. 👍🏻🎯😷

Second hand doesn't line up with minute markers on the TSAR. How did my $200 Casio Lineage get this right and Marathon didn't. It's a small detail but something that would disappoint me on a $1200 watch.

I've had my TSAR for around 11 years (went through 1 battery change) and have beat the thing to hell. Bezel had one of the lume markers pop out, tritium markers definitely dont glow as bright as they used to, bracelet, case and crown are quite scratched up but the crystal is 100% scratch free. I bought the watch to be the ultimate tool watch and its definitely lived up to that without skipping a beat. I have multiple automatics in my collection but for my intended purpose of the TSAR, I prefer it in the quartz movement for the accuracy. Amazing watch for the price!

The bracelet requires two screwdrivers used simultaneously, one on each side, to remove the two piece screw to size the bracelet. It is a real pain.

I remember seeing this watch on amazon a few years back, and I really liked them. My bday is this month so im going to buy myself a new watch. I wish I could see these in person, I can only find these for sale online. I really need to try it on before I pull the trigger. The movement on this watch is very nice also. I am also looking into the Longines Hydroconquest. And with a rubber strap for either.
