My first, last and only experience buying from limited run took 14 months for an order to be fulfilled. Cardboard and plastic - not a high performance racing engine or a fucking space shuttle.
Sweet, still have my CD burner so I guess I can get into the retro reprint business. Maybe I can also have my nephew draw the custom cover art for my editions too.

This happens with lots of companies. At first it's a small group of people who are passionate and running a relatively simple operation. Then they get bigger, things get more complicated, and they need to hire people who don't necessarily have the same level of passion. Now there is more at stake because you need to make money to pay these people and keep things going. If you don't spend the time to carefully lay the foundation for a solid business at the beginning (structure, processes, mission, culture, etc.), things will fall apart later on. You start to lose the script, cut corners to meet quotas, etc. That's what we are seeing. It's hard and takes a lot of deliberate effort to start a company that has the legs to be sustainable past the initial stages.
They just released Alan Wake 2 pre-orders for the collectors edition and it’s from limited run games. Was so excited to get it, but I don’t think I should. I’ve never bought anything from them, but I’ve heard so many horror stories.
While not as bad as this CD-R issue, I am disappointed with an order that I recently received from them. They have been gradually releasing the soundtracks to the various TMNT games from the late 80s and early 90s. I received the one for the Arcade Game (which includes the music from both the arcade and NES versions). Here is the problem with it... The actual original arcade intro used the theme song from the cartoon... meaning the same original recording used in the intro to the 80s/90s cartoon (until the last couple/few seasons when they changed it). But the first Aracde1up TMNT cabinet as well as the Cowabunga Collection replaced it with a cover version due to licensing issues (I believe the later A1up cabinet with the Turtles in Time artwork on the cabinet has the original theme song). Well, I received my CD soundtrack, went to listen to it, and guess which version is on it? Yup, the COVER version from that first A1up and Cowabunga Collection versions. To the best of my knowledge, this was not notated or called out on the listing on their site when it went up for order. Granted, I didn't buy it just for that one song, and that song is available through other means, but it is still very annoying and IMO misleading. I would not expect the SOUNDTRACK to the game to run into the same licensing issues as reissuing the game, itself, and if that was an issue, they should have pointed it out.

I have multiple 3DO consoles and D didn't work on any of them (Sanyo, GoldStar, and Panasonic FZ-1 models). I think the write speed was too high to run on the system because I've tried burned games on my 3DO units and they all stutter because the write speeds were too high. Even at 4X burn speeds it was still difficult to get my burned copies of games to read. I like the physical media for my 3DO but I just play the ROMs. I reached out to their support and let them know I had issues. If they send me a replacement disc that's fine. I didn't realize that D wasn't a pressed disc so I'm glad I caught this video.

For serious. I was already pretty put out with them and that was the last straw. I don't even pay attention to what they're releasing anymore since they obviously don't want my money anyhow.
I still have a 3DO & the main reason I ever purchased one in the first place was for "D". I also have the game on the SEGA Saturn, Playstation, PC, & the director's cut which was also for the 3DO. I spent so may hours on this game locating all 9 beetle locations, getting all 3 endings, seeing every cut scene. I also have great affection for "D2" & really just about everything from Kenji Eno including his music. His games should get remastered & re-released physically on modern consoles. At the very least "D" "Enemy Zero" "D2" "Trip'D".
Something else that bugs me about them is when they release a game and its not even the latest version. I mean, in some cases it cannot be helped, but for the most part, a lot of games are missing updates released far before they ship. But that is but one issue with them.
I wish I could say I'm done with LRG and SLG but honestly they keeping finding way to sneak back into my field of view. That Rocket Knight collection is just to sweet.
I like some of the Switch games they put out but they make some weird decisions. Plumbers don't Wear Ties for the 3do was only available for one day on April 1st.
I've ordered a couple games from LRG (X-Wing, TIE Fighters, House in Fata Morgana), and haven't had an issue with them, but they definitely messed up here. I've met one of the founders, and had a great convo with him. I hope they'll do better going forward, especially if they ever do a reprint of 3DO Wing Commander, which I'd kill for.
I'm never ordering from them again. Ordered twice and had to wait far longer than was advised (still awaiting 2nd order that should have been received by March 2024).
So sad, bro! Kenji Eno's up there with Fumito Ueda as one of my favorite people in games period! Ueda even got his start under Eno's wing, working on Enemy Zero as a WARP member! His works and memory deserves more than this lazy effort. Very disappointing. 😢 Cheers to Eno. I hope he isnt rolling in his grave! I'm sure he'd have hand delivered them if he could and would have a word with LRG for their desecration of his masterpiece! Peace.
No now buys limited run because it’s fighting for physical release of games …. Everyone buys limited run games banking and hoping that the game they buy goes up in value and treating it as an asset . It’s fucking annoying treating games as a fucking asset class .
i stopped with limiter run after i waited a year for the castlevania switch case. the case took a year. a year. for a case. and i had to email them about it!
Limited Run should start doing crazy things, that would get people super interested, how about releasing "Killer Instinct" for the Neo Geo MVS, or something like Mega Man 9 and 10 for the Nes, and see how that goes.
I've only ever bought the No More Heroes trilogy from them cuz they were the only place that sold physical copies for the Switch. That was before I found out about all of the controversies with the company. Needless to say, I never bought anything else from them ever again though I was tempted (specifically for the Scott Pilgrim re-release).
I used to collect limited run games and I stopped, I purchased panzer dragoon and I needed to wait about 10 months, then I see it at Walmart from another company. Thanks but no thanks if there is a must play game I want I will pay a little extra and get it off of eBay.
Shopped with them a few times, probably won't again. First experience was Shredder's Revenge for the Switch releasing in retail before i got the standard edition from them.
Over the years, there were definitely a few titles they covered that I salivated over. And a few times I was just about to bite the bullet and do it, but something always just felt "off" or not "legit" about what they do. I don't know what it was, and i am a SUCKER for nostalgia that mindlessly pays a premium for... but something about their games just gave me such a ;bad vibe. I'm so damn happy that I never gave them any of my business. Great video bro, hope you have a good week and weekend.
I've heard quite a few controversies about Limited Run. Wait times and pre-order ethics are one thing, but this? I was originally going to say that this is an actual problem, but the more I thought of it, something came to mind that could give them the benefit of the doubt. Though pressed discs are usually considered to be superior to burned ones, pressing discs can run the risk of delamination/rot in the future. Perhaps archival grade discs were burned as not to take any chances?
Yeah wow, I'm glad I didn't order either of those two. Limited Run needs to make this right. I own quite a few Limited Run games, and this gives me pause about ordering more.
Ive never actually ordered anything from Limited Run itself...I do have a lot of Limited Run games, whether I find them at a second-hand store or cheaper on eBay. I do appreciate them for bringing a lot of these smaller titles physical (since I rarely go digital). The whole waiting a while sucks, but I guess technically you are still waiting if you find one out in the wild.
The only 2 games ive purchased from them were shredders revenge and SoR4. I recall them going on sale theough amazon shortly after launch for cheaper if im not mistaken. And i had to wait while Amazon order's shipped shortly after launch.
@@PaperBanjo64 lol yeah at this point, that's the route that I'm going with since I couldn't pre-order the cart due to my budget right now in regards to car payments and despite owning the official repro of the first game. And plus it's been really BS to even try to get the series physically; the original, Risky's Revenge, Pirate's Curse only having LRG physical releases minus Half Genie Hero having one through Xseed and Seven Sirins through Arc System Works in Asian regions.
@@PaperBanjo64 Oooo that would be interesting. I know I already own a Miyoo Mini Plus and other emulation solutions but I have always been curious about the Evercade systems for a while. And it would be interesting if Blaze were to have a publishing branch if they gave Shantae wider releases because I know that there was a lot of demand for the Duke Nukem 1 and 2 Remasters to be on other platforms if they're mainly tied to them and not Gearbox.
Simple: just outsource the thinking to RGT85, or any other angry-as-a-service provider. That way you can relax and only get angry when the daily video title says so.
The lead time is out of control. Was afraid I got caught in some weird ponzi scheme. While I waited 2yrs for my order, that shenanigan where they fired that girl happened. Games finally arrived later than estimated. The order arrived fine but my confidence in the company tanked. Now I order elsewhere.
I really don’t get into the personal staff business because that has nothing to do with the games they make the only thing about limited run is I wish more stores carried those games so I can save more money
I thought Limited Run Games was mostly about releasing physical editions of games that only had a digital download option originally, especially for Switch (tons of games are eShop-only). Didn't realize they were into re-releasing older games that used to have physical copies but are no longer in print.
I get the feeling that they messed up on purpose due to the fact that not many people has a 3DO and they didn't expect some of them WOULD take an in-depth look into what type of CD they used, and now (if before wasn't already that they started to lose their clients to begin with) they are losing even more of their clients due to those "mistakes", what a shame.
LRG are a really sus company; they reserve their own products to sell at a higher price on eBay, their postage outside of the USA is extortionate, it can take years to get your product without updates, and there’s no guarantee the game will work. Hard pass on anything they sell.
Besides the fact that if you pay that much money it should be an actual cd. But the problem with cdr's is that the quality just isn't as good, thus they can run into issues in the long run. This is coming from someone who collects alot of cds and has plenty of "official" cdr releases.
I loved my 3DO growing up, and never knew Limited Run Games was diving into the library. D was really good, and I remember D2 was supposed to be one of the big games for Panasonic M2 which was supposed to be the 3DO's successor. Eventually it came out for Dreamcast or something, but after the M2 project died, I stopped following its progress.
For those who hate LRG - speaking to the standard Switch and PS games: you can either buy the games they make so you can have a physical version of the game or you can choose not to buy it and you will not have a physical version. If their shipping times bother you, don’t order it. But that means you won’t get it. As for the topic for today’s video? Yeah that’s messed up.
I never liked Limited Run Games. Never. I bought one game from them (Streets of Rage 4)and never again. They are so incompetent as a company. Overpriced products with little incentive and late arrival of games as well and when they fired that woman from the company over BS, I was more done with them.
I never pre order from them I just go to my local super game Time store they pretty much everything from limited run but I pay a little more and I’m okay with it
Are they opening themselves up for lawsuits since they are selling a product to consumers without telling them it might not even work? I mean they ship globally and some countries have very serious consumer rights protection laws.
D2 was crazy! I remember that game. The beginning was disturbing with the whole alien mouth violation part. I'm not surprised it didn't get a re-release. Never played the original D though.
Passing a burned disc as a pressed is lying but the more serious issue id worry about is it killing the system. Years ago i burned some turboduo and sega cd games which i burned at the slowest speed to play but after weeks of play the laser eye would start having problems reading the games and over time those systems would refuse to detect or read genuine discs. From what ive read its really hard on those vintage drives.
The 3DO was around $800 when it came out. Adjust that for inflation and it really is sickening. The system quickly died after the PlayStation came out and most of the 3DO library was put on it.
As a physical game collector susceptible to FOMO I almost considered buying from these guys, at most I'll buy second hand if the price is somewhere close to the digital (like River City Girls), but if this is how they're treating their overpriced carts (of which you might end up waiting years for), I can officially put LRG on my retail blacklist
I've never actually had a problem buying from them. All my games have been appropriately priced, come in faster than playasia at the very least, and have been in new condition. But it's still good to say something if it needs saying.
Pressing discs is for a very large production and small runs are way way more expensive. As stated unless someone can show me the hard evidence the life span of a burned disk is the same as a manufactured pressed disk
I bought quite a few of their Vita games but haven't bought anything directly of them since 2019, just to much trouble dealing with them from order mistakes and damaged games to one order taking nearly 2 years to ship.
Yeah, Just like I said in another comment, I was waiting for LRG to put a physical version of a recent indie game for sale, But now I'm just going to wait for it to be on mercari and buy it then.
Yet, they are quick to take your time right there. The same reason I don't buy from Analogue. They are a ripoff. I bought a Retrotink 5x. I waited a week for them to ship and it's on its way. That's the kind of service I like. They let me know when it's out and let me track it too. That's how you run an operation
I used to buy 3-4 games a month from them for years. I haven’t bought anything from them in about a year because they started having horrible quality control, using piss poor packaging materials, and terrible customer service.
Where’s my Killing time, monster manor, blade force, star fighter, gex. The 3do was one of my favorites cause it was the only place I could play killing time.
Cdr = Etsy repro for 10-25$ Not 60$ @08:00 who you calling old lol My Japanese fz1 ab switch unit has trouble with burns. Ive heard goldstar units cant boot cdrs well if at all.
So for some backstory of me, I was 13 in 1995 when I was told my uncle had something cool. Ended up seeing a fighting game called Way of the Warrior...we played it nonstop. It was so much better than the SNES at the time. Well, last year I bought a 3DO. As a proud owner of it, I got to hunt down some games, including Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. There are fun games on the system...yes, seeing this sucks, but either way should be just, if not more improved, as good on the newer consoles.
It's $64 worth of stickers in the box and $1 for the game. And don't forget the $15 shipping!
and no shipping insurance
And an extra couple of bucks if you want their fancy envelope instead of a cheap padded envelope that gets your game mangled in the mail.
1:06 That's not an exaggeration, I waited literally 2 whole years for my Shantae statue to finally arrive!

Peace.
The company was acquired by Embracer Group through its Embracer Freemode operative group in September 2022.
So.... duh.
Kinda makes sense why they don't accept PayPal anymore, harder for people to get refunds
They also charge for refunds and canceled pre-orders.
That makes sense I was going used paypal.i have to get tomb raider remaster limited run other retail store
No now buys limited run because it’s fighting for physical release of games …. Everyone buys limited run games banking and hoping that the game they buy goes up in value and treating it as an asset . It’s fucking annoying treating games as a fucking asset class .
I mean, I buy them to play. I generally will not buy a game If I had no intention of playing it.
@@RippahRooJizahsame
i stopped with limiter run after i waited a year for the castlevania switch case. the case took a year. a year. for a case. and i had to email them about it!
Man, i had a Panasonic 3do as a kid. Never would i have thought itd be brought up in a video
Here the prerogative is if they are going to make refunds if the games doesn't work that lessen the problem but doesn't erase it
CD-R's are definitely grifting as an officially pressed disc is said to last longer too.
Burned cdrs are also harder on the optical reader too.
Over the years, there were definitely a few titles they covered that I salivated over. And a few times I was just about to bite the bullet and do it, but something always just felt "off" or not
"legit" about what they do. I don't know what it was, and i am a SUCKER for nostalgia that mindlessly pays a premium for... but something about their games just gave me such a ;bad vibe. I'm so damn happy that I never gave them any of my business. Great video bro, hope you have a good week and weekend.
RGT 85.
37 Thoundsand views and your Knicks won the series.
A very good day for you.
I'm ready to pre-order the Switch 2.
Speaking of which, some music studios have been releasing music on 8-track. The idea of 'vintage' is becoming a real nuisance.
Yeah wow, I'm glad I didn't order either of those two. Limited Run needs to make this right. I own quite a few Limited Run games, and this gives me pause about ordering more.
Still waiting on tomba and gex collections
I’d rather see a Gex collection for Evercade, featuring not just the PSone games but also the GBC ones!
Hope Gex isn't censored.
@@gsleo2396 lmaooo here we go again. So true.
@@RasTrey69that is worrying. I already own the original trilogy on Saturn and PS1 though.
I bought a GoldStar 3DO about a month ago after searching everywhere. I’m enjoying it.
I tried to keep up with limited run but just too many
I told Limited Run Games to do this, and I did it for Joe from Game Sack.
The only 2 games ive purchased from them were shredders revenge and SoR4. I recall them going on sale theough amazon shortly after launch for cheaper if im not mistaken. And i had to wait while Amazon order's shipped shortly after launch.
Apparently Rocket Knight is ready to be shipped in August. Shocking right?
The fact that they have Shantae held hostage though
:( poor Shantae...hopefully Shantae Advance gets into the hands of Chinese repro sellers on Aliexpress.
@deeko_z86 Evercade need to buy out the rights to Shantae, that's much more affordable, imagine a Shantae collection cartridge...
@@NodeathnolifeWhat demonic hold does LRG have over WayForward?
I seriously don’t know what we’re supposed to be angry about anymore
Yes.
I'm angry because your not angry 😡
@@Particle_Ghost😂😂
Forget being angry, just don’t give your money to shady companies.
Simple: just outsource the thinking to RGT85, or any other angry-as-a-service provider. That way you can relax and only get angry when the daily video title says so.
I'm still glad they re-releases Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, I bad games that are good! Hopefully they remastered D
Never buying from limited run ever again thanks for the videos RGT saving me some dough
I really don’t get into the personal staff business because that has nothing to do with the games they make the only thing about limited run is I wish more stores carried those games so I can save more money
so part of the problem is that the 3do has a split in which systems can play CDr games kind of like with the Dreamcast.
I was hoping that they're going to put plumbers on Wear ties on the eShop
I have a well preserved complete D and l noticed the box says PANASONIC. Maybe the Limited run version only runs on panasonic models.
I thought Limited Run Games was mostly about releasing physical editions of games that only had a digital download option originally, especially for Switch (tons of games are eShop-only). Didn't realize they were into re-releasing older games that used to have physical copies but are no longer in print.
the 3DO is one of my favourite consoles ever there are loads of great games actually like Return Fire, Need For Speed, Road Rash etc
I never pre order from them I just go to my local super game Time store they pretty much everything from limited run but I pay a little more and I’m okay with it
Considering the lifetime of a CDR isn't even that long, I wouldn't consider these collectible or even worth having. CDRs are borderline consumables.
Are they opening themselves up for lawsuits since they are selling a product to consumers without telling them it might not even work? I mean they ship globally and some countries have very serious consumer rights protection laws.
At least they didn't sponsor you. *_THAT,_* would be a bad idea!
Didn't they also fire someone over some tweets because they didn't agree with their politics or something to that effect?
Yes...I only found out after I pre-ordered Shantae on GameBoy Advance from them.
Coming Soon to a street corner near you: Limited Run Games’ Sidewalk Bootleg Bonanza!
I don't like LRG or their managers, I don't buy anything from them. That said, I do not care that they are burning discs vs pressing them.
I've never actually had a problem buying from them. All my games have been appropriately priced, come in faster than playasia at the very least, and have been in new condition. But it's still good to say something if it needs saying.
Pressing discs is for a very large production and small runs are way way more expensive. As stated unless someone can show me the hard evidence the life span of a burned disk is the same as a manufactured pressed disk
plumbers dont wear ties is a slideshow not a full motion fmv game
I'm 55, but I never even heard of a 3DO until Lady Decade covered the system.
I bought quite a few of their Vita games but haven't bought anything directly of them since 2019, just to much trouble dealing with them from order mistakes and damaged games to one order taking nearly 2 years to ship.
I had to threaten to take my issue to social Media when i literally waited a year for my order with them.
yeah the year long turnaround for an order sucks.
Same
Yeah, Just like I said in another comment, I was waiting for LRG to put a physical version of a recent indie game for sale, But now I'm just going to wait for it to be on mercari and buy it then.
I usually stay away from Limited Run. I'll hit up eBay and buy the games second hand most of the time so the company doesn't get my money.
The 3DO was awesome! GEX !!!!! Mines in storage, not dusting it off anytime soon.
Where’s my Killing time, monster manor, blade force, star fighter, gex. The 3do was one of my favorites cause it was the only place I could play killing time.
Good coverage, Shawn.
Cdr = Etsy repro for 10-25$
Not 60$
@08:00 who you calling old lol
My Japanese fz1 ab switch unit has trouble with burns. Ive heard goldstar units cant boot cdrs well if at all.
I would love to be able to play D on Switch.
