Hello Davvy! Thank you for the document! I have a question about ranger. "Rangers get everything from Tasha’s for free." So does that mean i can have Favored Enemy and Favored Foe? Just for claryfication. Sorry for bad English. Hello from Ukraine!)
Can confirm. Been playing with Davvy for months now and God Damn, he's a fantastic DM. He is worth every cent and second.
Davvy participates in D&D?!? Who would have thunk it.
Hmmmmm, are you sure he does? I'm not convinced
@@heroposral It's an almost subliminal message. You really have to look at the symbolism and referenced material. What can I say, I'm skilled.
2:05 "I now have this theory that the sorcerer was always supposed to use spell points" That's not just a theory, it's true! If you look up discussions about the playtest for 5e (it looks like it was originally in the "D&D Next Playtest Packet" from August 2012 - unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the packet itself), but a thread from the enworld forum (titled "Favorite things in the playtest that never made it") said this (it seems spell points were called "will power points" back then):
"Sorcerer: Had will power points, total number of spells known, and highest level of spell possible. Entirely on the willpower point system. Spells and origin powers fueled by WP. E.g., a 5th level sorcerer had 16 WP, knew 6 spells, and could cast up to level 2 spells. Spells cost 1 WP per spell level. So the sorcerer could cast up to 16 1st level spells, or 8 second level spells at that point.
Base HD and proficiencies were based on sorcerous origin, and the more WP you spent during the day, the more you reverted to that origin. E.g., the dragon origin gave you d8 HD and armor&weapon proficiencies. You could use 1 WP to give yourself the dragon strength power, or 2 WP to use dragon scales power. If you used 3 WP in the day, you grew claws and gained melee damage bonuses. If you spent 10 WP in the day, you manifested dragon scales on your body."
I'M SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT OF USING SPELL POINTS FOR SORCERER! That's such a cool idea and I'm sad it isn't used more!
$50 a month? That's so inexpensive! And homebrew?!? What a deal!
can confirm davvy is a great dm, even if our party is pure chaos he always knows what to do to keep the game fun and on track, going to be sad when our current campaign ends since its so much fun
Nice. Also one hundred percent agree with you on the Sorcerer thing.
1:58 can we get the specifics of how you translate spell points to meta magic? is it just a shared pool of points or do you have to transform them like the sorcerer does from spell slots to metamagic points. Thanks
No spellslots at all. The spell points and sorcery points are all considered the same thing.
@@DavvyChappy so do you combine sorcery points with the spell points and then can use them like from combined pool?
@@WandererB21 The exchange rate from sorcery points to spell points is 1:1 if you compare how much it costs to turn them into spell slots.
@@GootPoot So this is how i see it. I am level 5 sorcerer i have 27 spell points and 5 sorcery points. I combine them. I have in total 32 spell points. I want to cast a guiding bolt at level 3. It cost 5 spell points, and i want to haste the spell using 2 sorcery points. It total i spended 7 spell points and now my pool is 25. Am i right? Or did i make a mistake?
@@WandererB21 Yeah
You can't tempt me like this you titanic tabletop tempress. Tho i'd be lying if i said i wasn't interested
holy hell, now that you think about it, the spell points thing makes so much sense
I quite enjoyed your phonemic transcription of English words into the Greek alphabet, though I have the most experience with Homeric Greek pronunciation so the omega with the bar over it was a surprise.
Hey look it’s the Scramblers!
Do you have tips and guides to someone who wants to run paid GM games? I'd love to make some money on the side doing this
Hey, I run paid games. If you'd like any tips feel free to hit me up at discord under shadowkat678#0160. I'll go ahead and let you know first off people typically have a higher expectation on your games than free games, but I've been running three tables (occasionally four) for about eight months now and it's been great. But then again, I lost my job to covid, so I've had the time to sink into it. There's varied expectations though depending on how much you're charging. I do $20/session. I've seen it be anywhere for $5 a session all the way up to $30-$50 a session for people that pull out all the stops and are already heavily established and known about in the gaming scene.
The Legend himself: "Hey! How have you guys enjoyed my games so far?"
Vasudean: "Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh"
Lol. Yup, as soon as it started, every idea I had to go for just evaporated.
Love from a DungeonDudes and Vaush fan!
The D&Dnext playtest seems to confirm sorcerer was supposed to use spell points
If I wasn't already DMing four different groups and playing in three myself I would....God I've been wanting an out of the abyss game for ages.
Daddy Davvy Clappy has blesed us once again.
Davy boy!! How’s you being !!
Love your work and sincerely wish you the best and your family and friends! Yours truly

*heavy breathing* I chose the worst time to get fired, god I'd kill for a chance to go for a spot
Ever since coming across your videos I've been wanting to play but I always assumed you'd be completely full up. My saturday morning (friday pm in America) just opened up after 2 1/2 years wit the same group so I'm gonna sign up though I get the waitlist for a popular slot is probably gonna be pretty long

This makes me wish I had a normal job and not weird crazy hours
D&D?! Its been 80 years...
Are you welcome to beginners? Always wanted to play but Ive only been in half a game of Mines of Phandelver, but I've watched plenty if that means anything.
I suffer from the unfortunate condition of being British. Does my alien time dimension proclude me from joining in the fun?
I would but I can't afford... I only get $40 a month and am preparing constantly for dragoncon.
May want to split a single game with some homebrew races and classes. Let me talk to some friends.
$50/month seems quite low for the time commitment you take on.
K so $50/month.... I'm notoriously cheap but I think I can get behind that for a few months.
I am unsure about the homebrew rules around getting to death saves, as the changes to exhaustion makes going for a long rest over a short test even more of the better option which is the opposite what 5e needs, also having to to pickup an ally with magic is already a high tax in your resources, not only a precious spell slot or item of worth, but don't forget the actions spend or rather lost that aren't used in fighting the enemy and it is very likely that your ally looses an entire turn.
and for hidden death saves is not not great, or rather it has the desired effect, since the most optimal thing in uniserse and tactically as a game is to pick up allies as fast as possible, with only ever 1 death save throw, making it hidden or not does not matter. The only time death saves matters is when the party can't easily bring you back up or even stabilize you, and here having the entire party able to to see the save throw adds way more tension. "do we get 1 more turn to rescue our friend, or did the clock ticked closer to their death?" is way more interesting than "we have up to their second turn to rescue them, every turn after we might just have a corpse to extract."

As a greek I have to ask:
WHY? Why didn't you put the words through a translator it would be much better!
They are not even remotely spelled correctly!
