Thanks for the content Mike. 12 shank inline ripper is a heck of a load. Can't imagine how hard it pulls on headlands and feild approaches. Probably has to fold up the wings on the super tight areas to pull through.
It's impressive to see the John Deere 9R 640 Tractor in action, especially when paired with the Unverferth Zone Builder for field ripping! This combination seems like a powerhouse in agricultural machinery. I'm curious about the specific advantages this setup provides in terms of soil preparation and overall efficiency. Also, how does using a machine like the 9R 640 impact the long-term health of the soil? It's amazing to witness such advanced machinery contributing to agricultural productivity!
THANK YOU MIKE FOR THIS TILLAGE VIDEO I KNOW THIS MUCH THAT TRACTOR USED PRETTY MUCH ALL THAT HORSEPOWER TO PULL THAT TILLAGE RIPPER THAT DEEP . KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MIKE .
Their 620 Quad Track tractor did not slip much at all but it was running in another field. Also they were playing around with weight and tire pressure on this tractor and maybe got it doing better. They also have a 9RX 640 but it was on a grain cart
I would say that the tractor had almost perfect grip and traction. Possibly if the ground was harder on top the tractor would loose traction and spin the wheels and come to a standstill. Looked like he was able to maintain a constant depths well.
@@stubbi Yes that is true but the tractor was able to master the implement and still make forward progress without having to go to a shallower setting.
"Didn't seeing it on the internet so it might not be true" that's hilarious because everything you read on the internet is true. That 12 shank is pulling hard.
In a situation like that were they don't have the traction to pull through those tough areas do the go back and hit it again with a smaller ripper or is getting down 6-8 inches versus 12-14 sufficient?
@@lynwessel2471 That's correct about sq. I was try say something different. 710 have ( about 710mm ) + spacer ~ 4" ( about 100mm) . So we have 710+100+710 = 1520mm. Good Year LSW 1400 have 53.5" ( about 1305mm) The compaction it's not only go strait down, they go a bit to the side , so on dully You have wider area for compaction.
I would love to see replicated trials from someplace in Western OH. Do we see a yield response with deep ripping? Here in the land of swamps and clay(Southern Ohio) we could never get a measurable yield response.
I thought the 9R 640was introduced in 2021 at the show, but wasn't actually available until 2022? I don't know exactly what it is about them, but I love ripping and chisel plowing videos.
@joshpitts7256 would be nice to see them in the field side by side working with a 620 then he said the owner has that has the exact same Ripper on it. They claimed the LSW are as good as tracks but also the deere has an extra 20 horsepower at its base rating so it should be an even match at least on paper
This is not a good look for Titan and not really fair you posted this while they were calibrating the setup. Just looking at those tires you can see they are overinflated and there isn't enough weight to ballast properly.
@@nellsonstout7001 no need to cry. just making an observation here. I've seen enough video to know that the guys from Titan help you with the setup. They clearly didn't consult them.
nice video , thanks for sharing
Good video 👍
That’s a sweet looking tractor with the LSW tires on it what a beast
We have 6 of these Unverferth rippers..gd things pull hard af! We adjusted ours to a,depth of 8-10in.. works like a charm for us.
That's a great green monster💪😃 he's definitely breaking up compaction😉👍

That big tractor has all it wants behind it
*Wow, what an awesome powerhouse 💪😃! It's certainly busting through any tough obstacles with ease 😉*
Wow that’s got some big floater tires on it, nice saddle tanks.
That is a impressive tractor and ripper. Great video Mike👍👍👍
Great video Mike 👌🏻👌🏻
681HP Truly the law of the land.👑
Perfect videos Mike
Great video. Tires have their limits and the reason god invented tracks.

@@farmhandmike yeah I would be curious if they got the slippage down with those LSWs. I do like the tech.
Awesome 😎
Great video Mike 😊
@farmhand Mike
Thank you. I really enjoy your videos.
Good video.
LSW tires, Big John saddle tanks, what's not to love!

Check closely, it had tons of slip in the beginning
@@stubbi Yes that is true but the tractor was able to master the implement and still make forward progress without having to go to a shallower setting.
I do believe that in this case 18.4x50 triples would do better

I like Mike less videos on UA-cam from the imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲
Lowering the hard pan from 4-6" to 10-12"
Maybe if those saddle tanks were completely full he would have less slippage, he’s spinning a little much there but that’s one cool set up he has.
That is pullin' a lot deeper than 12 or 14. Deep tilling has to be run closer to 18 or 20 or you are just running above the compaction layer
Does having a big tire like the LSW or 3 smaller tires on each axle give more grip?
We had a 9r 640 on the lot here at ag power in Marshall Missouri. Had the same tires also
Wish that tractor wasn't a million $$$
Those LSW'S are not enough tire for that tractor. Should go tracks anyway when you get that much hp.
In the 1990's, the biggest anybody tried was 7 shank, so 12 would be quite the anchor.
In a situation like that were they don't have the traction to pull through those tough areas do the go back and hit it again with a smaller ripper or is getting down 6-8 inches versus 12-14 sufficient?
😎😎
They looks nice on this LSW 1400 but I think it’s better ( less ) compaction on dually 2x 710 tires. Pressure to the ground it’s one wider area .
Flat plate area of 710R 42 x2 =1164 sq inches. LSW 1400 = 1282 sq.in.
@@lynwessel2471 That's correct about sq.

On a tractor this size though I don't think anyone would want 710's. You'd go with 800 duals.
Since there's no fertilizer being applied, are the tanks full or empty with regard to traction/weight needs?
Salford for my farm
would love to see this ripper behind the new Case IH 715
Great video! After ripping does anything need to be done before planting? Or does that break up compaction enough by spring?
I'm sure in the spring they will be running a field cultivator or high speed disk before planting.
I would love to see replicated trials from someplace in Western OH. Do we see a yield response with deep ripping? Here in the land of swamps and clay(Southern Ohio) we could never get a measurable yield response.
Do deep rippers/subsoilers create a compaction layer
Doesn’t need duals, but that thing would look good with lsw duals
The owner doesn't need help with that problem. They have had lsw dauls on a case combine
I thought the 9R 640was introduced in 2021 at the show, but wasn't actually available until 2022? I don't know exactly what it is about them, but I love ripping and chisel plowing videos.
Nice rig but that tractor was really struggling to pull that ripper
Far how wide they arge going with the number of shanks its not that bad. I emagion any tractor will struggle a bit too.
JD's Trademark.... Struggling to pull

Rule of thumb 100 lbs per hp, what is the rule of thumb for for and aft weight placement?
45-55% weight split
Mike I hate that wide angle lens you always use! It always makes the tractor appear to be going around a curve which it isn’t.
There’s way too much slippage, must be 10-15%
Need more tire, looks like a lot of slippage
Too many psi, they need letting down
