I always thought Like A Flower takes place in the Aftermath of 28 Reasons. One the surface level the 28 reasons colors and images, mainly the fruit are inverted from 28 Reasons to Like a flower. Also Irene and Seulgi are constantly the opposites of one another in Red Velvets lore. But also the bridge section in Seulgi’s 28 reasons she frees herself from whatever has been holding red velvet lore wise eventually freeing them in Chill Kill (different topic), but we never get to see the aftermath directly of Seulgi’s actions in Chill Kill or Cosmic . Arguably we see the effects it has one Wendy in Wish you hell but given how singular that video is I’m not gonna debate that one. But it’s here where I think the more supernatural forces in the video come into play, with Seulgi being freed effectively throwing the world Red Velvet lives in off, Irene is left to learn how to navigate the aftermath which is why she’s people watching, she’s curious on why not everyone was thrown off by this. Anyways I’m gonna leave it here
@ the SM boycotts in terms of the Seunghan situations are kinda lifted, while purchasing merch and albums is kinda still not exactly on the top of my priorities the boycott has mostly ended
The tape that stands out is "See the Sun", the one thing a vampire cannot do. She values this tape in particular because it is what is the most foreign to her. Perhaps Damon is a vampire who has gained the ability to see the sun and that's why she chases him down. This mini album really is a grower for me, it is simplistic but shows a side of Irene that I never knew I needed. What a great video :)
I love this album. "Like a Flower" is a great title track. "Summer Rain" and "Calling Me Back" are one of my top b-sides this year. They are becoming part of my top b-sides
I love the meaning of the mv and your thoughts on it so pretty. I never thought of it like that! I'm not experienced in tracking and identifying meaning like that so I always love it when i get to hear thoughts from someone else!
😳 you’ve stumped me lol I always thought that the video itself is a dramatic take at online dating and stalking lol but these ideas are immaculate! I thought All the tapes are her previous memories or experiences but Damon is her missed connection(like Craigslist). She gets online for the netizens to help find this “missed connection” but as we know Irene from previous RV comebacks, she enjoys a good game of cat and mouse. When Damon literally becomes “the one who gets away” she accepts that she’ll be alright without him and celebrates being unchained from the spell of high strung behavior(for now) which overall would mean she’s growing. She’s growing because she doesn’t NEED him to be alright or complete but she’s growing because even she’s bored of her own antics. For the song, I am GLAD SM didn’t debut her with the typical “let me prove that I can sing” OST type of ballad for her debut. When YoonA debuted, for example, it was nothing but OST ballads! I was pissed because she could’ve experimented more sonically. Also I hope no reveluvs jump me but am I the only one who thinks Irene’s album would’ve also suited someone like Eugene(SES), Jessica or Krystal?? They all have the icy yet smooth demeanor that would fit these songs perfectly
I was gonna put this in my longer comment but given I can’t find anything on it outside a few instagram fan pages, apparently Damian or the name Damian is also the Name of the man from Peek a boo and Cosmic… possibly all the same person which many revuluv have speculated
Omg I really enjoyed your analisys! Both of your theories make sense (although I think the first one goes along better with all the things Irene told us herself about this project and even with the teasers’ narrative). And I agree that the album kinda works as a RV project because Irene was able to present both red and velvet sides in a cohesive way, but I don’t think this has that RV touch actually, mainly the title track since I really can’t see the group releasing something so performance based (although calling me back is indeed very reminiscent of some of the group’s r&b tracks). Overall I think the album is a gem! Extremely good and VERY Irene.
maybe this is ungenerous but listening to the song i felt like it kind of had to be in conversation with her big scandal from a couple of years ago, like its a song about being vulnerable and improving from one’s mistakes, which is kind of how she has to present herself after that. which is just to say its smart, I think, commenting indirectly on irene’s reputation as socially difficult (ice queen, man hater, the scandal) through the character she portrays in the MV but tying it to a narrative of growth and overcoming. even if this is not the literal interpretation of the MV, i have to imagine that this was a conversation that was had at the company, how to frame irene in light of her very publicized scandal. plus the song is very good, altogether it gives me sort of new jeans vibes
“walk with me here” i will run if I must i love your ideas/thoughts and i love your videos

I see a boycott can hold for good music(kinda joking). Just to say boycotts need to have more specific goals.

I was really skeptical about Irene's solo, but wow did she blow me away like a flower is one of my favorite songs of 2024
Center Irene appreciation

Adding this to my playlist of videos I show people to convert them to Revuluvs
Mass reveluv conversions happening all throughout 2025 🙏
@@choujimi As a fellow Luvvie, I approve of and support this plan.
