This isn't cheesy, it's so sweet! :) And I can totally see what you mean. It has that whimsical, hopeful element to it.
As a birder myself, this hits extra hard. (For those not in the know- a spark bird is the species that gets you truly excited about birds for the first time and hooks you on birding.) I really identify with this theme of growing up against your will and trying to recapture the magic of childhood through small joys, especially in nature.
