little trick - you can get the extra life at 31:35 over and over again to get max 9 lives before last stage. get the extra life then go back through door to your left and re-enter and life is back.
Wow, that is a good trick. Too bad if you die on the last boss it send you back so far, but yeah, thats cool. Thanks for watching -Mike
yeah I think you run out of time and have to do the stage at least twice to get lives up to 9, but it was worth it cuz that last stage is so damn hard. I wrote this one to Nintendo Power back in the day - they never published it. #stillbitter. :)
One of my favorite games as a kid, thanks for the memories, love the music in this one.
+J Truts Cool. I like this kind of tricks. It's not cheating, you trick the game by its own rules : )
I did something similar in battletoads & double dragon the ultimate team on NES.
Nice, I was not aware of that!
I never knew there was a 99 continue code until recently. Could've used that for practice back in the day. AT least enemies don't respawn when you defeat them like the damn birds.... Also I love the scrolling clouds in 7-1.
The game gave me sleepless nights with untimely shits in the childhood. But dude! Hats off to your skill. I never really killed the last boss in my life.
For an NES game this has great graphics. Freakin' awesome!
Many NES games have really good graphics. Kirby and Blaster Master for example
Mario 3 has amazing graphics
@@miamimagicians Can't hold a candle to Ninja Gaiden III. At least the one on SNES does (Mario All-Stars). Some of the backgrounds on some of the levels are just UGH on the NES version.
You gotta be hardcore to play Ninja Gaiden 3. And Mike is hardcore!
I love watching this game being played. everyone has their own ways of going about each level.
They fixed the "respawning enemies" glitch on this one. WHICH MAKES 3 THE BEST. :)
Congrats on beating this, one of the toughest games.
Intimidation Most definitely major props to him for beating this. I could never pass that swamp stage where the fish knock you off of those narrow platforms..
Not so Hard, i Beat This game between my 8 / 10 Years (The Hard Version), Sorry my Bad English
I Beat Ninja Gaiden 3 again Yesterday, Took me 3 Days to Remember all the Traps, but i Finished the Game Without Using any Continue, Sorry my Bad English
I beat Ninja Gaiden 1 between 8 /10 years old and it was hard. I found the 3rd one to be the hardest and never beat it. The second is very difficult as well.
It's not a tough game he just sucks
I have yet to beat ANY Ninja Gaiden game. Good shit man
8-Bit Eric Flu season is around, try not to barf.
1 and 2 are my bitches! Never had the pleasure of trying this son of a bitch though
Change your name to can't beat 8-bit games.....
@@pausastronzo I've beaten 1 and 2 also , but good luck with this , its ridiculous
Hey Mike I love how you tell us this is the harder version which im not doubting but your over there making it look kinda easy lol
I love when you guys reference that dude from Texas Chainsaw 3!
Btw what's your favourite Ninja Gaiden Mike? Since a kid always loved 2, rented it like a mad, but 3 never came out here in Europe. Then i played it many years later and a few years ago i beated it on my Famicom, now i think its the best of the trilogy, the enemies respawn is gone and overall is a refined and fair game with a good stage design, and the music is awesone!
My list would be= NG 3 - 2 - 1
love the soundtrack on stage 7-3
Of all the original NG games, this is the one I saw the least of. My buddy has NG2 back in the day and that was my jam, but no one I knew owned 3
Mike you are one of the coolest dudes that does this. I always look forward to any vids you make. Keep 'em coming in 2017.
The plural of nemesis is nemeses.
Hey Mike, Sunrise at the end bud. Sunrise
Great job Mike, you've got some serious Ninja Gaiden talent.
I played this all the way up to the NG Black release on the OG Xbox. Making my way through Razor's Edge now.
-"Why Ninja Gaiden 3 is the Favorite of Everyone?"
-"There's no Fucking Eagles"
Omg it's bringing back my childhood memories. I finished this game so many times when I was 10. The music makes me cry at the end. ♥️♥️♥️
You taught me a few things about this game. Good job.
Keep doing as many of these playthroughs as you can! Always love them.
Just beat this yesterday. Your video helped. One of the best NES games for sure!
The reason why III was harder for North America at least in part had to be because of Ninja Gaiden's difficulty reputation. The reputation was well known at the time it came out. I know it was a major selling point for me. II helped sell me on the box by having "hard to beat" on the lower right hand corner... As if I needed any extra selling on playing that game. Looved the series. The first game was one of the games where I was learning how to play NES so yeah I had myself thrown in the deep end making the game way tougher than it even was. I use to take the cartridge out of the NES, look at it and stare at it in admiring disbelief at how hard it was. In the end though, I ended up beating that game over 30 times. Great skill sharpener/confidence booster.
7-3 in NG3 has hands down the most difficult rooms in the entire series
Love the Ninja Gaiden trilogy. Beat it way back when as well. Great job, Mike!
Your playthrough's on Ninja Gaiden inspired me to slowly but surely finally beat all three games in order on the NES. It feels great to be in this ever so small of a club. Thanks!
Congrats. I just joined the club. I feel like Tom Brady !
Speed Runners use the Fire Wheels to get through the 7th level quick enough for a deathless run. You can beat the time if you go through the entire level using fire wheels since most obstacles that slow you down such as laser beams and spikes won't affect you.
I Beat all them. NG3 has excellent graphics and music.
Best nes game..it over his time Graphic.Sound.Gameplay. yea its hard ...but 10/10 Masterpice...some snes game are sheet compering to Gaiden 3
This is by far one of the hardest games that I have ever played and beaten. The levels late in this game are a certifiable nightmare. I think that part 2 was the best in the NES series of games though. The trilogy remake on the SNES (even though it was horrible IMO) did make an easier version of part 3 where the enemies don't kill you so quickly.
Grade A graphics, super catchy music and truly fucking outrageous difficulty makes this game one of the best on the system.
The music in this game.... So good
Dammit Mike! Now you're making me wanna play this to see if I can beat it again!
My brother owed all three. Now I have them. I was only able to beat the 3rd one and the gameboy version. My brother was able to beat all three, he was very good. I lost interest in games. I have a few on the nes, super nes and gameboy, but I rarely play them anymore. I enjoy watching you and the others play games, it brings memories back.
Think you could do bionic commando for gameboy, I have it. But no energy or time to play games anymore.
Mike you are Amazing at NES really. It's a pleasure to watch you.
Those are the games that pushed the limits of the system, love it!
The 2nd one had the best music but this one looks great!
I salute you for completing this game, Mike! I can't get past the third level boss.
5:50 i vote hell yeah for that
Can't believe that those were the last 3 bosses. I used to play this when i was 12 and i never played it again after the last level. I was like fuck it it's not worth it. Now i am realizing how close i was. Well played mike!!!
You should check out "Volgarr the Viking" if you want a modern game with classic play and challenge. I'd love to see you attempt that game with your skill.
It's a lot harder than than the Famicom version.
Ninja Gaiden 3, unofficial king of PCM samples
The Redshirts who stand on the dissolving blocks for a living are probably thankful for the sword to the face.
I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure the wheel aura sub weapon makes you resistant to hazards. The trick to the spike area. Been a while and was playing a rom.
Great play through Mike. I can really appreciate these nice runs in these games, it's takes some massive skill to plow through these boards. Much respect. Please play Blaster Master
Why did people in the chat ask if he played the american version? He already said he played it on NES, not Famicom. And we know from the AVGN video that the 3rd game never saw release in Europe. Think for yourself people.
Not everyone has encyclopedic knowledge of NES games?
+Ricky Johnson He says in the beginning of the video that this was the American version and that the Japanese version was easier because it has more continues.
Robert Jenkins This is a playback of the livestream he did of Ninja Gaiden 3, hence why you can sometimes hear him answer random questions.
Robert Jenkins Fair enough, you win, I just assumed...................procecution rests.....I go home in shame......
Robert Jenkins Even in the livestreams, he stopped talking to the chat as much as he used too. I don't blame him though, its youtube chat. I would like to see him livestream more though.
I enjoyed that. Ive played this game enough times to know what I saw was good gaming to beat that game. I somehow beat Battletoads without cheating (emulators and save states), but that was because I had no choice but to play the game over and over and over to learn its patterns. You definitely did that in this game. Towards the end it took more prodding to get you to play right, but you did and finished this bastard.
I may give this one a good go again, no cheating.
For some reason, I now want Ninja Gaiden Run on smartphones! Make it happen Tecmo!! xD
Looks like the enemies don't seem to respawn. I beat the original. I guess I should try for these versions now.
Mike, love watching you play these classics. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next playthrough!
This game shows what the NES was truly capable of! Great colors amazing line scrolling! Great sound! Truly a 8 bit masterpiece!!!
I'd like to see the cutscenes play out, personally. Seeing as how this isnt a speed run, it'd be nice, as the viewer, to get the full Ninja Gaiden III experience.
Just a thought! :)
The only way to get the full experience is to play it.
You were warning a great year
NES/SNES games look really sharp when you see them at 60 fps.
Bravo! That is a tough game. Great job, Master Mike!!!!
These are the only types of games you and everyone else needs to play. Retro Sega is great too but nothing beats Nintendo in general. The only company people need to play and support.
I am very impressed, good job Mike !
I dunno about anyone else, but I always wished there was a proper Ninja Gaiden on the SNES. That being said, this game certainly had some pretty impressive graphical content for being on the NES, so much so that it looks close to 16-bit.
The good Ninja Gaiden 3
great run, i never played either of the sequels much but i played the original a ton, almost daily for over a year back in the day and still could never beat it despite this, the Ninja Gaiden series were great games but would certainly test your metal..
the music from the level with the purple crystals features a melody from seath the scaleless's ost . . . coincidence? i think not.
This game is hypnotic.
Play the original Ninja Gaiden. Would love to see a play through of it.
Next Generation is also my favorite...its the one i grew up with.
Pretty good Mike. Impressive. Would like to see you beat more games, then do a vid on all the games you've completed on stream/vid. Thanks.
Around minute 40:00 and so on, I don't know if it's me, my tv or an outdoor noise but I kept hearing a buzzing noise I thought it was my phone vibrating over there in the room being charged, or maybe it was Mike's phone?
Nice game and a solid playtrough.
Tip my hat off for Mike beating this. I’m currently in the process and it’s hard....fucking hard. I’m also playing the famicom version, which is surprisingly much easier. Enemy placement isn’t as dickish and enemies do less damage to Ryu. Overall very good game, most polished in my opinion.
The Famicom version is the 1st version but pretty much main and better version, for some reason they increased the damage on enemies, removed passwords, added limited continues and change/added enemy/item placement as well with having a strict time limit on the last stage. From what I know they wanted to make it harder since it's popular for games in the US to be harder than Japanese versions.
Great skills there, Mike!
Very well played, Mike, I used to have the first and second part but
they were too dificult for me so I gave up! I love your channel, regards
from Spain!
Full??? as in "I completed this nightmare with limited continues"? Holy shit, I must watch this.
I probably beat Ninja Gaiden III over 15 times (I over 30, 2 I'm not sure how much) and every time I run out of time in the last level:) I never looked it up to see if it was possible or not impossible to beat it without it running out of time. I want to keep it a mystery:)
I would love to see you stream the game Kick Master someday. That game is awesome.
I want to see them play the new strider game!
Nice job man. Tough tough game!
Awesome job Mike!
How long did you have to practice for this one?
I practiced for a couple of days, less than a week actually and I did a No Death playthrough of this game. I'm not even good at this game, there are too many holdups.
Drinking game : take a shot everytime mike tosses the controller down
I HIGHLY recommend the SNES's Ninja Gaiden Trilogy if you haven't given them a go. Slightly easier in difficulty, but highly improved in music to get yer blood super pumped!
chuckobscure which part? The music or the difficulty?
how would you rank the ninja gaiden games in order of difficulty?
Mike i like watching you beat any game!! let alone Darkwing Duck!
you made me jump at 23:12
Well done!
Sweet :) nice job mike. i seen you beat ninja gaiden 1 & 3. Now i want to see ninja gaiden 2 :)
Good job. I cannot beat Clancy's first form. No matter how fast I move, I always get hit by the first and third lightening strikes he fires after you hit him.
It's actually really easy once you figure it out. Just stay on the bottom near the pillars like I did in the video. Basically just copy what I did here -Mike
that's usually what I do. I come on here and when i'm playing a game you streamed and having a hard time i see what you did and copy it or listen to what james says and do it.
you guys are madd helpful.
DAMN. That's really all I can say is... DAMN. You're a better man than I. I've never tried, But I don't think I would have the patience to sit down and beat this. Even if I had the patience, I don't know if I could beat it or not and I am pretty good at NES games, even when I was a kid growing up. I can beat Contra without dying almost every time, But this just looks ridiculous. Congratulations.
Does Mike play on a CRT or flat screen TV?
Nice playing =D
Hell yeah,definitely do darkwing duck.
When there's Trouble you call D W
that was well done. How many times have you played this game before you cold beat it?
Nice Play Mike!
You have skills dude
This looks really good for an NES game!
most the deaths were due to lack of using power ups.
instead of jumping into a enemy use the power up as you jump into the enemy. S/N lack of power up usage kinda irk'd me...
Which NES Ninja Gaiden is the hardest?
NG speedrunner here. I'd say 2 is the hardest, brutal enemy layouts, brutal environmental hazards, and your sword's hitbox is a lot weaker.
Hayao Thanks man
I think it's different for many people. I always found this one the easiest but mainly because my two best friends when I was a kid could beat 1 and 2 and I struggled with them. So I bought this one when they weren't as interested in the series anymore and I played this fucker over and over wanting to have one of the NG games that I was better at than them. Hey, we didn't have cell phones back then....
I always thought 3 was the hardest, only because of the limited continues. If I wasn't biased from playing through part 1 so damn many times, I would say that it's easily the most brutal and frustrating.
If they all had 6 limited continues I'd the second part. The three end bosses are harder and you don't get an energy refill between them as in the original.
As I watched this, I said to myself, "I wonder why the video is so long. He's progressing quickly.." Then the last level answered my question.
Ninja Gaiden... I haven't heard that name in ages.
