I have been meaning to try Yaupon and got this video suggested to me! It is interesting though because you have a very thick midwestern and southwestern accent!

Thanks for your video. I pick yaupon and make my own tea. I also make a green version and a more roasted version. I like to blend them. Thanks for sharing about yaupon!

Great video! I've been an avid tea fan for a while, and got turned on to yaupon tea a few years ago. It is for sure my favorite tea (though it may be tied with earl grey).
couple of notes: while Yaupon Brothers is a super popular brand, for sure shop around and see what else is there! different brands will treat, roast and chop the leaves differently. I prefer a darker flavor, so my go-to teas are the medium and dark roasts from Catspring Yaupon.
also: consider trying loose leaf! you can usually get more tea for your money, on top of opening up different ways of brewing it. One popular way of preparing Yaupon is to brew it in a french press! my usual methods are to use a tea ball for something quick during work, brewing it loose and then straining it into my cup for social occasions, or I use a turkish teapot with dark roasted yaupon when I want something akin to coffee during work.

Honestly, this was the best 11 minutes of my day. Thank you for that. I’m excited to see your channel blow up because content like this is amazing. You clearly have great understanding of teas and have a fun but detailed review style. Can’t wait to watch the rest of your videos.

I once identified this plant in Oklahoma. I was aware of the historical significance and use of this plant. But i haven't tried it yey. Wasn't aware that it was available commercially today. Interesting. Thanks for the video.

Hi Jon, really appreciate your reviews, very thorough, keep it going please! I am huge mate aficionado living in Canada born Mexican. Sometimes I watch Argentinian mate reviews by Argentinians and the oddest thing is that they don''t review the caffeine content or the buzz on each particular hierba ( there are more focus on taste). It is really odd for me because here in North America or at least me, I drink it as coffee replacement and for the caffeine buzz . I actually enjoy watching your reviews more than people from those countries because you cover the buzz, which is for me one of the most important things. Keep the work going, really enjoy your very thorough reviews. Thanks!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Caffeine content has always been a priority for me. Glad I can put that information out there for those who need it.

I'm a recent coffee to mate convert who just stumbled onto your channel while looking for mate brand reviews. There are surprisingly few, so you have a real market to corner! I'm about to have some Yacuy chimarrão as I watch.
