- How happy are GKS scholars when they actually come to Korea? We can't generalize everyone's experience, but I had the chance to chat with two GKS students about their studies/life as a GKS scholar, any regrets they may have had as well as advice for current and future GKS scholars. Just for fun, we also share some of our favorite eats (맛집s) around campus. Hope you enjoy!

I applied to Ewha last year through university track and a lil bit hesitant to apply to Ewha again (since I think there will be a bigger chance of me getting rejected again) but watching all of your videos make me realized that I think no matter how many times I got rejected, I will come back again for Ewha~

Thank you Professor! I really love Ewha and even was accepted to undergraduate degree in 2017, but because of financial problems I couldn't get it. Now I'm planning to apply to Gks via uni track and your videos are so inspiring! 교수님 I’ve been binge-watching your videos since yesterday and I’m really excited to apply next year! I think Ewha GSIS offers a really great curriculum (and I’m also lowkey obsessed with the dorms). I have a question, though: I’m interested in doing a non-thesis track for my studies bc there’s a lot of subjects that I really want to learn, do you think it would affect my chance of getting accepted?

Hello teacher! Thank you for the video, it was super encouraging. I'd like to ask you something since I'm planning on applying for the GKS next year. My dream is to study International Studies or Business at Ehwa. I feel a bit discouraged from selecting those programs since my previous studies (bachelor's and master's) are related to education. On the other hand, I can confidently say I got a good GPA and I've been working as a business analyst which has given me insight and experience in the areas I'm now interested in, but I fear I might be considered as a not suitable prospective scholar because of my background. That's why I wanted to ask if you have seen any GKS scholars been selected into a program that is not directly related to their previous degrees. Any word of advice is welcome. Many thanks!
Hi! Thanks so much for your message and your question. I have seen several students whose graduate school major is different from their undergrad major. As mentioned by Cindy, there’s always a way to tie in your previous experience to your future career trajectory. I would focus on your prior major not as a limitation, but in a more positive light. Please help me with this question. I found a list of Universities and their courses for graduate degree in the guide line. I'm just confused that does it mean it is only acceptable to apply to those universities as well as the courses for both uni track and embassy track? Thank you.
Hi! I'm not sure which list you're referring to. Is this a list provided by the GKS program? If so, you may want to check with the GKS office whether your interpretation is correct. As I understand, university track may be limited/unavailable in some countries, so you would want to reach out to GKS to make sure. I hope this helps!

First we must apply for gks scholarship or we must apply for university in their site and then apply for scholarship.
Which one should we apply first, scholarship or which university to study.
I might suggest that you try to find as much info from the GKS website first, as this is not my area of expertise. There are differences between embassy and university track, but that would probably all require you to apply for the GKS program first.
Well it's been so overwhelming that professor is so closed to her students your personality is so attractive I had a question about I am in last year of my bachelors degree is it okay if I apply for gks this year or should I wait for completion of my degree
🙈 For the application, I believe you are allowed to apply before your actual graduation date (so you are expected to graduate before you start the program), but I would double-check with the GKS office about this. Best wishes!

Can u please help me, if I get undergraduate scholarship and I want to do master's too so will I get the posco scholarship ?will it be enough to survive in Korea, cuz my parents won't give any money. Can u tell me please?
The POSCO fellowship is only available for the Master's/Ph.D. program. I encourage you to read their FAQ section again, but I believe you can apply as an undergraduate student if you will have graduated by the time you receive the fellowship. Whether you can live with just the money provided by the fellowship will depend on the individual (for example, there is a huge range in accommodation costs and even general living costs). That being said, I know of students who are able to live comfortably with the stipend -- so I will leave the calculations to you!

Hello! Can we still apply for KGSP to study Masters even with a GPA lower than 3.0 during undergraduate? Or is it an automatic rejection? I think I have the skills but I had bad grades during my undergraduate because of various reasons. Thanks in advance for answering!
Hello! I can’t speak for the GKS program or give an official university stance, but I think if you feel you have a lower GPA, you would want to build up other skills/expertise (perhaps additional certification?) to supplement your application. If you are interested in research, you may even think about working towards getting published in a peer-reviewed journal or presenting at an academic conference. If I were you, I would also make it clear what contributed to the lower marks and how this will not be an issue in graduate school. I hope this helps!

Hello Prof. Jun! I have a question regarding Ewha. Ewha is a christian university, right? Do they welcome muslim students as well? I mean do they provide a muslim-friendly environment too? I'm considering Ewha for my graduate study, but am still not so sure about the religion matters there. Looking forwad to hearing from you soon! Thank you in advance Prof!^^
Thank you so much for the question! Ewha's establishment has its roots in the Christian faith (from its founding by a Christian missionary) and those values are embedded in the university. At the same time, the university does not exclude students or faculty based on religion and we have students/faculty from different faiths at the university. I have several Muslim students myself and -- at least based on my understanding -- they seem quite happy with the environment at Ewha. I hope this helps! ^^
