Chiropractic Adjustment for Lumbar Stiffness

A chiropractic adjustment for lumbar (lower back) stiffness can help provide relief for restricted and immobile joints of the lower back. The "crack" or "pop" sound you'll hear is called a joint cavitation, its simply a shift in the state of matter (fluid and gas) within a synovial joint. It's an extremely safe treatment, especially when compared to less conservative treatments. With quick search of the internet you'll see that there's a plethora of scientific papers which have supported it's effectiveness and cost-effectiveness as a treatment for low back pain.
With a quality exam, low back pain can be categorized into a few groups to help determine what type of treatment is best to relieve it. Chiropractic adjustments, or joint manipulation treatment, is especially helpful for pain originating from the facet joints of the lumbar spine, lumbosacral joint, and sacroiliac joints. I apply the treatment to the lumbosacral joint and sacroiliac joint in a patient with a previous lumbar discectomy in this video.
