Keep up the good work, I hope you're still playing! The biggest thing I noticed was the need to basically rebuild the FH from the ground up, but you've got the athleticism and skills to put it together!
Thanks for letting us look at your game. I probably play at the same level as you. Except I've given up on the flat serve and am doing only the top spin serve. To lower the probability of a fault.
Nice video, very honest appraisal of strengths and areas that need work. I would definitely say you’re on your way to 4.0! Think continental grip on your serves if not doing so already.
Hey Kristen, very cool to present your strokes here. I am a former junior ranked player in NorCal. I would say that your groundstrokes look pretty solid in terms of whole body flow from feet to follow through. In order to get more topspin and pop you need to look at a more relaxed wrist. In the rest of your strokes I see a common issue which is footwork. Your lower body is disconnected from your upper body. Tennis begins at the feet and moves upward through the legs, waist/hips, and into the shoulders and arms. Focus on your feet, legs and hips as they relate to initiating each stroke and you will see improvement. Good luck.
This was a fun video. IMHO, I would say that it is hard to say from watching a practice. A person playing a match vs practicing is quite different, no matter what level.
with an eastern grip (Connors, McEnroe), it's almost impossible to get heavy topspin on the forehand. the only way is to go to semi-western or western, but that makes it a completely different stroke, and would take a couple of years to get comfortable with it. anyway, very nice video, very nice lady.
That's the only comment I was going to say as well. You're alittle limited on top spin with that grip your using. And then switching to continental on volleys and serves. Other then that for 3.5...you have a nice solid game. Keep up the self improvement
Kristen keeps up the good work. I see a couple things which can improve your game. Your forehand needs to increase racket head speed because you are hitting a little bit behind the ball. One way to improve racket head speed is to cover a racket with a cover and swing for 40-50 times per day for 3-4 times per week. In two month you will see a different in racket head speed. Someone had mentioned that you are muscling the ball because your are hitting it late sometimes and you need to relax when making contact with the ball in order to have that windshield wiper. Also your forehand volley grip is not correct, it should be continental grip( aka shake hand grip). Gives it a try !
I think so. Her forehand only hits by arm. Her backhand is muscular shot, her shoulder is up very stiff swing. Good swing starts with lower body and very relaxed and loosen upper body so can use momentum. Tightness kills speed and whole body kinetic movement. I do not think she is technically a solid 3.5 and 3.00 top. Her volley is 2.5.
Good video. I enjoyed watching that. Respect to that lady for giving an insight into her tennis.
I loved playing here growing up. Brings back some memories.

Wow, Kristen. You are definitely a solid 3.5! Your strokes even look that of a 4.0 and sometimes even a 4.5 women's player. Keep up the good work!
accurate rating. Very good 3.5. Should be able to play 4.0 as well. For those who thinks she is a 3.0 please post your video and put down your rating.
If she’s a 3.0, I’m a 4.5
Get your feet to do the carioca steps and you'll be dancing like a ninja at the net! Nice hitting as a 3.5. Appeal up ;-)

Before this video I thought I am ntrp3. Now I think Im 4,5 😅
Pretty consistent for 3.5
using a lot of shoulder in the forehand, could be a bit more compact.
To me the weakest part of your game is your volley. It is more like at the 2.5 level.
after watching this I think I'm a 4.0 , if shes a sold 3.5
Tracy727 if you ever want to be evaluated and featured like Kristen let us know! Thanks for watching!
Sorry, no hard feelings. More like a weak 3.0 than a 3.5
You are muscling the ball wayyyyy too much. You need to go back to basics.
Back to the basics? LOL! She's NTRP 3.5! She hasn't mastered the basics yet... She's doing great.
Ugly strokes.
3.0 tops
